Normal doesn't exist. It's nothing more than a setting on the washing machine.

If the world and his wife stopped trying to create the perception of 'normal' that some people just can't, (and shouldn't ever try to be) then maybe so many people wouldn't be quite so fucked up.

People should instead be authentic and feel able to be themselves.

It's a bit like the "professional couple" statement....Most things on here are open to interpretation. For some, "normal" could mean lights out, missionary sex once a fortnight. For others it could be 3somes every weekend.

It's a completely subjective term. You could seem entirely "normal" to the folk you encounter in your daily life. But they'd raise more than an eyebrow if they knew you were on here.

Maybe it's because everyones definition of what 'normal' should be is different for everyone. The very fact there are protests and riots happening yet again over racial inequality just confirms that.

People work in the exact same analogy.

For example I have adhd so your "normal" is a fucking horrific nightmare for me so it gets called a disability in today's world & you get bullied for it, even as an adult.

No, I just don't see the world like you & don't expect me to conform to you because of it.

It still frustrates me that society still doesn't see the damage this expectation of conformity does. Somehow people are expected to change to fit their environment. However if you had a plant that wasn't growing in the shade, you'd move it to the sun.

People are no diffrent.

Sadly though so many are lacking in any ability to see past their own bubble. Or they don't appreciate the beauty of difference.

The idea of contentment is lovely but that doesn't mean people should stop growing or aspiring for more.

Why be normal when you can be unique

In society normal is just another word for repression

There would be no ambition, art wouldn’t exist, music wouldn’t exist, technology wouldn’t exist

It’s the free thinkers, dreamers and creative people who fall out of the ‘normal’ spectrum that are innovators and bring about change in the world.

Happy to be completely abnormal and not stuck in a restrictive societal box

Once upon a time I was borderline ‘normal’ as society would have it. I became miserable and in danger of boring myself.

This is exactly the issue! it's why so many people with disabilities struggle to find & keep work and why so many black people are currently protesting against "normal" treatments.

Folk are sick fed up of being hemmed into a one size fits all box, it just doesn't work.
