Anyone into opera or want to chat about opera singers, or anything associated with opera or classical vocal music?
To kick it off, how about the following:
favourite operas?
favourite singers?
The best opera to see or take someone to who has never been to an opera? |

Best opera to take someone to I think is Madam Butterfly.I worked for an opera company many years ago.......The City of Birmingham touring Opera...not as a singer!!!!!!Was on the technical side. But it`s such a spectacular experience.....both visually and audably.....not sure that`s a word but I`m sure you know what I mean. But my favourite opera is Carmen......exciting,passionate,sexy,funny.....what more can you get from a theatrical experience???? |

Puccini was a master of melodies. Madame Butterfly, Cio-Cio San, is probably his only character that has any psychological depth or layers.
Maria Callas was probably the best Carmen, for the way she was able to sing in character, create her own interpretation and her acting ability. Although she never did sing the full opera on stage. |
