The last Patel thread got closed for growing too big.
Where do things stand now? She's been accused of bullying staff in a 3rd government department.
Discuss. Or rant. Take your pick. |

"Maybe some of the civil servants got too big for there boots and need taking down...and so now trying to bring her down"
Is that why staff in 3 separate departments accused her of bullying?
One accuser went so far as to take an overdose following an incident with Patel. That's some serious commitment to bringing Patel down. |

"Don't care tbh, just book marking.
Yet here you are, commenting on a thread you don’t care about "
You do know what book marking is don't you? I don't care, I want to entertain myself reading the ridiculously prejudiced comments by some of the people who do |

I do wonder why Patel is still there. She has no qualities to speak of. And enough has already come out to sink her.
All I can think is that Johnson doesn't want to lose another prominent figure so soon after Javid's resignation. |

Her lack of quality is her best quality, from Johnson and Cummings' perspective. It's much easier to stay on top of the heap when the heap is made up mediocrities. |

to call her mediocre is to give her more credibility than she deserves - she is a small-minded, bigoted, dangerous right-wing ideologue - that she now has power over the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in society is shocking - how can someone of such limited ability be promoted to such an important office ? because we have equally appalling people in the cabinet and a complete and utter fraud posing as Prime Minister |

Perhaps some of these people saying how bad she and the government is should get off all your asses and get elected and show us how much better you are. |

"Her dad stood as a ukip candidate - what a family!
My dad's voted for a Communist party in the past but that doesn’t make me one "
My granny was an avid reader of the morning star and went on lots of trips to communist countries - I always wondered if she was a spy - not sure who she would have been working for though? |

Maybe your granny is mentioned in the Russaia report!
Oh yeah ... the Russia report. Anybody remember that thing that should have been released ages ago? The thing that may contain vital information. But apparently this information is so unimportant that none of us need to know it. |

"What happened to innocent until proven guilty? Layla moran seem to have her convicted already on question time last night. "
The government will find her "innocent". They're doing a Cabinet Office inquiry. That's like invesitaging yourself and then giving yourself the all clear.
When it comes to the legal action that's being taken, it seems likely she'll be found guilty. It's incredibly unlikely Rutnam would have taken legal action without strong evidence. And there have been multiple reports of Patel's bullying.
What will the fallout be? I reckon the government will point to their own whitewash and say that proves it's not a clear cut case. And they'll use that to put the boot in against the legal system.
This government doesn't seem a fan of pesky things like the law telling them to ... oh for example not prorogue parliament in an unlawful way. |

I didn't say she was guilty. Just said this is how things will likely play out. We will all see. Hopefully. Unless the whole story gets buried somehow. |

Rutnam will have ample evidence, though. Senior civil servants don't step down and make so much noise ... ever actually. I can't think of another example like this. He wouldn't have done all this unless he was pretty damn sure of his case. |

Actually, there's an ironic parallel to another event. A few months ago, a senior UK diplomat to Washington DC quit and stated she could no longer “peddle half-truths on behalf of a government I do not trust”. Senior diplomats don't take such actions or say such things either.

If there's important information in the report, it should come out. It's as simple as that.
But this government clearly wants to bury the report for all time. |

There were several allegations about her bullying.
I doubt any of this will dominate headlines anytime soon, though. It's all gonna be Corona for weeks or months at this rate. |

"What exactly is she bullying about? If it is about releasing the report on grooming gangs, I very much stand with her. If not, I don't know."
There is a pattern of bullying behaviour stretching back through a number of ministerial roles. |
