I'm not on the edge of my seat or excited.
It will be a miserable exposure of our lack of diplomatic and negotiating skill.
Our international reputation has already been shot to pieces over the last few years.
No deal with exceptions for Automotive and Aerospace. Possibly pharmaceuticals.
However we will follow EU regulations on all of them.
Limited financial services access with equivalency to EU regulations granted on a whim which will lead to European investment management moving to the EU over time.
Fishing in more or less the same place, bit some headline smoke and mirrors.
No I e will notice as we will be heading into a global recession with the Corona virus tail hitting us too. |

If China slows then it all goes wrong.
Hoping for the EU to suffer more than us isn't going to work out.
That is what you are basing this strategy on.
The EU countries do all have their own agendas but negotiate as a block with an agreed position. That's what collective bargaining is.
This is the contradiction at the heart of the Brexit argument. No countries have sovereignty and "the EU" imposes its will biut they are all divided with their own agendas and cannot make a decision. |

Your negotiating hopes are pinned on the EU being more badly hit economically than we are. However, they have tens of trade agreements in place and can trade with each other.
We will be alone when the shutters go up.
The EU budget discussions are not collective bargaining are they? Completely the opposite.
That is utterly missing the point. |

Lone wolf?
Just alone.
If you see no economic problems coming out of ten years of debt fueled growth and a global health emergency with disruption to travel and the global supply chain then you are exactly the person you portray yourself to be in your posts |

Yeah, it's only reckoned to be about 10 times more lethal than the flu. So it's only likely to cause a few million deaths. Why worry about that? |

"Oh sorry ...Few million deaths ...want to bet it's not 3 million nothing like a bit of exaggeration there then.. "
That's almost a sentence. It's still garbled, though.
Are you saying there will likely be a few million deaths? Or are you saying a few million deaths would be an exaggeration? Are you saying I'm exaggerating? Or the news is?
When you write so incoherently, I'm afraid it's hard to know what you mean. |

They may negotiate en bloc but every country and even parts of those countries have to sign off on it, remember that tiny part of Belgium that stopped the deal a while ago, France has already said that if fishing isnt included they will veto |

Wow
When discussing the internal budget they are negotiating with each other. No collective bargaining.
When they decide on an external negotiating position they discuss amongst themselves then instruct the trade negotiator. They all act together. That is collective bargaining.
You and half the country seem to fundamentally misunderstand this. |

2% of 7.7bn is 154 million
Hopefully, hopefully it will be nothing like as bad as this, but it's possible based on current figures. Global transport is much faster and the virus could become more deadly.
Panic won't help, but neither will pretending nothing is wrong. |

This is genuinely the most frustrating aspect of all of this.
The trundling out of empty, meaningless phrases to try and dismiss anything that questions their position.
Doom mongers
Also a method to actually sidestep the point made. The UK is not going to sacrifice the financial sector for fishing. That would be absolutely nuts. |

They won't be. The financial cost of leaving the European Union has already exceeded what our membership cost. And since a lot of people seem convinced they voted for 'short-term economic harm' I can imagine this will continue into the future. In addition to this, the largest French exports to ourselves would be secured under a "Canada-style" trade arrangement. One of our largest exports to the EU, being financial services, would not be. It's unclear to what extent this will harm the ability to trade with France in particular but it will be considerably harder. That is of course unless the government somehow manage to secure such protections. But considering we have a foreign secretary that until 2018 did not understand how important the Dover-Calais crossing was to our economy, this is despite it being the shortest route to continental Europe from England, I don't really have much faith. |
