Shortly before the first coronavirus death in the US was confirmed, Joe Biden condemned Donald Trump’s claim that the outbreak is a “new hoax” orchestrated by Democrats in order to beat him at the polls in November.
“For him to … start talking about being a hoax is absolutely dangerous,” Biden said in Greenville, South Carolina, on Saturday. “It’s just not a decent way to act.”

Bigger issue is he put Pence in charge of the whole thing. Pence doesnt believe in science. He said smoking doesnt cause cancer and thought he could pray to make the HIV issues in Indiana go away.

The Republicans have set a dangerous precedent by putting their party before the country. Now Democrats will criticise everything Trump does. The problem now is that things which would have been taken seriously are now put down to politics.

Trump has taken several other steps, all of them backward. He has eliminated a National Security Council position that coordinates responses to pandemics. He has ignored an expert panel’s warning that the US is badly unprepared for global health threats and needs to restore funding to address them, and is requesting that the CDC budget be cut by almost 16%, starting in October, and the Department of Health and Human Services budget by almost 10%.
Trump is also proposing a $3bn cut to global health programs, including a 53% cut to the World Health Organization and a 75% cut to the Pan American Health Organization.

No one saw saw it coming? Really. This TDS fuckwit posted the first coronavirus on fab in late January. The only thread on it was a year old and was the inmutated version. How is it that someone as stupid and ignorant as me say that 'the world is standing on a precipice' days before the first person had even died?
Lots of people saw it coming people warned him. The problem was that his loyalty is to Big Money not the citizens whom he supposedly serves.
The same can be said of Boris and Wormtongue (aka Cummings). They only changed tack after the markets crashed. It seems it is OK for Boris Corbynism without bankrupting us. No one is asking where all this money comes from. |

It might be fair to call the criticism of Trump's handling of the virus politicising. But you can't call politicising a hoax. Where have they sought to deceive anyone?
There is no way that saying politicising something is a hoax makes sense.

He sees if as a war and may consider deaths collateral damage if it pays off.
Personally, I see the economic and social effects as being a delicate balancing act. One which he would be getting badly wrong, but I'm not American so don't really care too much. |

I think it would work if this virus was in fact "just a sniffle" but by all accounts it lays a lot of people low for some time. So even if they did go back to work, one may find the virus causing as much collective absenteeism than a lockdown.
If there are no quarantine measures in force by Easter, the estimates show that may mean millions of deaths. That mught not be very good for his re-election campaign. |

Trump admitted that he lied to Americans about the seriousness of COVID-19 because he says he didn't want to cause panic.

Dummy Donny had plenty of warning that the pandemic was going to come to the US by people that knew. They were trying to get him to close the borders to in coming flights more than a month before Dummy Donny even started to limit flights from China, and he still let more than 40,000 people in from China. He kept playing it down and stalling because he didn't want to disrupt the New York Stock Exchange and hurt his image. Now, because of his serious lack of sense, judgement, and response, which was most definitely on purpose, at least tens of thousands of US citizens are going to die, if not

So is Egypt and Kenya, or Italy, Austria and Switzerland for that matter. The director general of the WHO is there to represent the organisation as a whole and not just their home nation, as I'm sure you're aware.
WHO have been slow to react and they should have called covid 19 a pandemic before they did, but no doubt political pressure was applied in order to protect 'the markets'. Fat lot of use that was.
Trump is looking for a scapegoat, pure and simple, because the realisation has hit home that sooner or later he's going to be held accountable for his near criminal behaviour in downplaying this crisis and potentially causing 10s of 1000s of additional deaths. There is no way back for him though, because every stupid utterance he's made is preserved on video and audio. Eventually he's going to jail.
The reason that WHO are reticent to criticise China is simple, they need their cooperation in trying to establish where and how this virus started, in order to fight it and try to prevent a similar situation occurring again. China is not a democracy, and the world relies upon it's good will for information, so a certain amount of tiptoeing is unfortunately essential. It's not ideal, but that's how it is.
Conspiracies are so much more intriguing than the mundane truth though.
