Quick, let's go after all the pensioners as well that may have used the term gay in their childhood to mean happy, but not the meaning has changed they must all be homophobes. So any bad things Johnson said are forgivable as they were before such terms were offensive? He referred to tank-topped bum boys in 1998. But I'm sure that was just the usual term for gay men back then. ![]() I just asked a simple question. Do you believe "tank-topped bum boys" was an acceptable thing to call gay men in 1998? I was alive back then. I don't remember people happily calling gay men that.

"You "assume" again. Thus proving nothing Ok I’ll ask you directly do you think comparing Muslim women to letterboxes is acceptable? Do you think talking about black peoples watermelon smiles is acceptable? Why would pensioners be thought of as homophobes for using the word gay to mean happy? Then I will answer directly Yes if they are painted red, standing dead still and having post put in their mouths, it has nothing to do with their religion then. No black peoples watermelon smiles is not acceptable if you use it as a racial insult Old people have been called homophobes for pointing out someone looked gay, they meant happy, someone else took it as them being insulting. Again, all about context. When you are in a hole stop digging ![]() Sure, I am a fair-minded person, I will help you out if you like ![]()

Sometimes I wonder how you can say that with a straight face.... I will just say this and move on, those who don't acknowledge history are doomed to repeat it..... anyway dave made exactly the same point that stormzy did, which is that whilst the UK may not be as racist as other countries.. "least racist" doesn't mean that "racism" does not exist!... it also doesn't mean "racism" is being pointed at everyone!!! some are so blinkered they will never see it..... some will that umbridge that its being mentioned!" ![]()

"What does everyone think? Dave took aim at Boris Johnson, the British media’s treatment of Meghan Markle and racism within British culture during his powerful performance at this year’s Brit Awards. The rapper began his performance with a rendition of his song Black, an exploration of Black history and social injustice, while seated at a piano. He followed this with a brand new verse, in which he branded the prime minister a “real racist”. “It is racist, whether or not it feels racist,” he began. “The truth is our prime minister’s a real racist. They say you should be grateful we’re the least racist, I say the least racist is still racist.” He rapped: "And if somebody hasn't said it / Equality is a right, it doesn't deserve credit / If you don't wanna get it, then you're never gonna get it / How the news treats Kate versus how they're treating Megan." Referring to the victim of last year’s London Bridge terror attack, Jack Merritt, Dave was heard rapping: “Rest in peace Jack Merritt, you’re my brother in arms, there’s tears in our eyes and love in our hearts. “We never had the same background, culture or background, you devoted your life to giving others a chance. And for that, I’m so taken aback, because it gave us all a voice, I have to say it for Jack.” As he reached the climax of his rap, Dave concluded: “We want rehabilitation, that would be amazing, our Grenfell victims still need accommodation. And we still need support for the Windrush generation, reparations for the time our people spent on plantations.”" Can someone express their opinion on a politician? Yes. Can they choose to do it publicly on a large platform to amplify their view? Yes. Is Boris Johnson racist? Probably not, but he uses racist and homophobic rhetoric for political and publicity reasons. He is on the record for having done so and he has never acknowledged that any of his comments were in any way reprehensible or let alone apologised for them. Is Megan treated significantly more harshly by the press than Kate? Yes. Is it because she is coloured or foreign or already a celebrity or that there is opportunity? Probably all of these things. Is it laudable that he is mourning for a victim of a terrorist attack who he knew personally? Yes. Would the country be better off if criminals were rehabilitated rather than just released to commit more crime? Yes. Should Grenfell victims be rehoused by now? Yes. What does anyone think is wrong about any of that?

Last night the mother Naina Ghailan said it was ‘disgusting’ that Dave received an award for an album featuring her son’s killer." " Is he allowed to dedicate his album to his criminal brother? Yes. Does that seem appropriate? No. Does it make any difference to the quality of his music? No. Does it make any difference to any of the other points that he made? No. Do you disagree with any of this?

If BJ or Corbyn had made such a statement about a brother of theirs and glorified it by including it in any of their work to a killer they would be hounded out of office Sometimes you need to open your eyes and see what decent folk will take from this Also perhaps if he is so concerned about homeless people he could help them himself

Regardless he should accept the criticism that his position warrants. What do you think this phrase meant when I wrote it? "Is he allowed to dedicate his album to his criminal brother? Yes. Does that seem appropriate? No." Neither you nor I know what he does or does not so for homeless people. You do not, actually, seem to disagree with anything that I wrote, but you are disagreeing anyway ![]()

"Constantly"? By whom? The Daily Mail? The Telegraph? People in the street? What "black only" jobs are there advertised? You are quite the victim it seems. Poor you. Again, how about actually saying if you believe that any of the Prime Minister's published opinions have racist connotations? Has he acknowledged that they might be in any way? If your opinion is yes, then what's to complain about? If your opinion is no then perhaps you actually are a little racist? It's allowed. It's a natural instinct. You just have to decide if you are alright with that or not.

"Stormzy offering Cambridge scholarships to poor black boys is OK. Sir Bryan Thwaites offering private school bursaries to poor white boys is racist. Mixed up attitudes give out mixed signals. " Sir Bryan Thwaite's offer was turned down based on Winchester and Dulwich not wishing to make any distinction to awards based purely on ethnic minority. That was their choice. I have no issue with that. Do you? That leaves Cambridge deciding that they would discriminate based on ethnic background. I don't, personally like the idea, but they seem to feel that the publicity alone probably encourages more applicants from a severely underrepresented group. Again, their choice. To the best of my knowledge, the alternative option was not offered to either. If it was and it was turned down then there would be a double standard at work, but we cannot assess that.

What's the context? I try not to be but I can definitely say that my initial reaction to seeing a young black guy dressed in a certain way is to be more on edge. I am aware of this though and then try not to be such a fool. Am I racist towards other ethnic groups? Not that I am aware of although This may have a similar reaction to a white man whom I may percieve may have a racial prejudice towards me, but this is not instinctive. It is a far more sober assessment of the individual. As I said, the science indicates that we have prejudices. They were useful for survival. Not necessarily so much racist but treating "us" and "them" differently. How we choose to react to this is down to us. This can be made easier or more difficult depending on our upbringing and social group.

"Yes he is, he is a little englander." Boris is many things and at the same time nothing. It may on occasion suit him to wear the clothes of a Little Englander (a pejorative term which doesn’t fit anyone I have ever met) but I doubt he fits the bill. He is a rich and well traveled global citizen who mixes with similar people. The only thing we can be sure of is his love of Boris and lust for sex and power. He has said things that could easily be construed as racist but I doubt he is. He has long argued for an amnesty for illegal immigrants. He has celebrated his Turkish ancestors. His views are not deeply held convictions. He has argued strongly for both sides of the Brexit debate. Boris says and does things to further his career and keep him in the public eye.
