Yeah, he will get in again. It isn’t good news for the UK and any future trade negotiations though

As people say on the continent 'when the US president farts, it smells in the UK'. It is just incredible the news coverage the US get in the British media. A snowstorm in the US makes the news. Any loony shooting three people over there and it makes the headlines too. I know they speak the same language as us and there is a historic bond, but seriously, can't the media give us a break with this country. If the EU, its institutions and the European countries had received a quarter of the coverage the US enjoy on the BBC, our newspapers and rags, maybe people would be a bit less misinformed about the EU and our neighbours. I am personally sick of the US and of the idiots they keep electing as presidents. Bush, Trump etc...

I doubt it. He's wanted it so badly, I can't see him letting go. Plus he's massively, massively popular. That will encourage him.

As for the US, the Republican party is at it's most popular now since 2005. This is fantastic for the right

It doesn't have to be that complex.

Maybe just the majority of people are sick of left-wing hate? That's certainly the case here.

You only have to look at the quality(sic) of their elected leadership, Corbin, Abbott, Thornberry, et al, to realise the inevitable conclusion of these people...!

They laughed when he decided to run, I mean they proper laughed, I remember one talk show host offering him 10,000 dollars of his own money for the laugh.

As farage would say, they ain't laughing now.

Pompous middle class centrists just don't get the real world and the left has taken the shuttle to Venus with intersectionality nonsense.

The average person has been disillusioned for decades, pointless foreign wars, trade deals that favour competitors, paying to defend Europe via NATO, unsecure borders, mass illegal immigration and nobody even talks about it let alone wants to stop it, then along along comes a man who says not only am I going to talk about it but I'm going to stop it, I am your voice in Washington.

He's a phenomenally clever guy for having his finger on the pulse and despite having everybody in the media and celeb world against him he'll win a second term by an even bigger vote unless the Dems elect Sanders, then I think it will be closer.

"Trump "not guilty" (as we all knew Republicans would back him.....good on Mick Romney tho).

Second term looks likely.

The Democrats are only barely left leaning, but the Republican shift to the right has been significant. That's a global phenomenon. When life gets difficult you trust in God and find someone else to blame.

The right has a simple message and offers "easy" solutions. This is considerd "strong". Pretending government is not complex is dishonest at its very core. It has infantalised thought.

Liberal thinking and an actual embrace of democracy requires compromise and complexity. That's what adults do. However, as that is characterised as "weak" the choice for some people appears simple.

Go for the "strong" leader. A bully. This attracts the weak and the like-minded.

Please do not pretend that Trump gets his was by reasoned argument and persuasion. He has a talent for getting people angry and keeping them that way. He also has a talent for name calling and picking on people as groups and individuals. He has a talent for easy to repeat soundbites and publicity.

The only genuine achievement that I will credit him with is getting other NATO members to cough up more cash. However, he wanted them to spend it on US weapons which they have declined to do. He has also handled his relationship with them in such a graceless way that the US is now considered to be an untrustworthy ally.

Trump's basic understanding of debt and borrowing is that when you go bankrupt, there are no consequences.

That does not happen on a national scale.

The US economy is in its biggest ever deficit during an artificially pumped economic boom. However, the huge tax cuts that drove this debt spike caused only a blip in GDP growth and employment levels which have all been on a steady upward trajectory since we'll before his inauguration, just with a wider wealth gap.

The only upside of a second term for Trump is that he will own the recession, just as the Tories will own Brexit. The other option is a temporary distraction with some wars or at least posturing against China as the next great enemy. That is already being set up.

Sadly there is no money to deal with another crash nor the goodwill that existed for a globally coordinated solution as in 2008/9 so the consequences could well be more severe.

If the outcome of that is a tack back to the more boring, rules based, cooperative system of before or another extreme is difficult to forsee.

If we tack back there will need to be an acknowledgement that the stability of the previous half century led to a laziness in not distributing the wealth generated from the open, globalised system that was created.

The other option will be unpleasant.

He's massively, massively popular because he and his Ministers won't go out and answer any difficult questions

It's certainly politically clever, but it's pretty disastrous for holding him to account, especially with such a large majority. I means that legislation can be introduced without debate and the consequences only contemplated as they effect people and businesses and society.

I don't foresee a recession in the USA, it's vibrant in all areas, business is moving back, industry is moving back.

The so called disaster with China tariffs is in fact turning into the opposite, China is being hurt and the USA isn't.

When somebody says "a blip in GDP growth" what they actually mean is GDP growth of 2.2, 2.5 and 3.1 which is phenomenal on an economy that size.

So the economy will continue to grow without end?

Sent never needs to be repaid?

No money has been spent in subsidising US companies over the period of the trade war? Everybody loses. That's obvious to a fool.

You know that China's agreement to "buy" more US goods is based on if their population actually wants or need them. The Chinese state is not buying anything. The tariffs go back to what they were in some areas, so where's the win?

Business is not "moving back" to the US. They have just moved out of China into neighboring countries like Vietnam.

You really don't know this?

Economic growth under Trump’s first 3 years has been slower than economic growth under Obama’s last 3 years.

Trump has created fewer jobs. He’s overseen slower wage increases.

He has massively increased the number of folks without health insurance though.

It was 2.1,2.7 and 2.9, which is actually slightly smaller but the tricky bit with GDP growth is getting it to keep growing, the first three years are much easier than the next three which were under trump.

That's first year economics!.

The average GDP growth rate from 2010-2016 was 2.2% following a global financial collapse. The highest growth in that period was 2.9%. Over that time the budget deficit fell in absolute terms and relative to GDP which indicates a ability to pay it back.

Well done writing some numbers down out of context though.

Always going for the micro-victory

It only slowed to just 2.3% last year.

So that's four years of large growth on an already growing economy under Obama.

That's unprecedented and hardly to be described as a "blip" unless your completely blinded by bias.

"When somebody says "a blip in GDP growth" what they actually mean is GDP growth of 2.2, 2.5 and 3.1 which is phenomenal on an economy that size.

Economic growth under Trump’s first 3 years has been slower than economic growth under Obama’s last 3 years.

Trump has created fewer jobs. He’s overseen slower wage increases.

He has massively increased the number of folks without health insurance though..

It was 2.1,2.7 and 2.9, which is actually slightly smaller but the tricky bit with GDP growth is getting it to keep growing, the first three years are much easier than the next three which were under trump.

That's first year economics!.

Do you have a degree in economics? Or any type of qualifications on the subject ? Or have you been using google and Wikipedia again .

Neither.

No PHD in economics? But you are so knowledgeable? I think you’re wasted on a sex site forum .

What I wrote is true, that's all that matters really.

you appear to have a PhD in strawmaning

You should be a professor , I don’t understand why you are on here all the time when you could be writing books or touring the country doing seminars on the subject .

No reason in particular just something I like doing in my spare time.

You obviously have an awful lot of ‘spare time’ I just think your obvious talents are wasted on here "

"Aw I think he as a huge interest in you sexually he’s smitten bless him lol.

I must admit he's a bit of a stalker weirdo which is why I don't publish my veris on here

You do realise that we can see on your profile that you only have 1 cam verification. .

You do realise I can stop my meets from verifying me even if they did after I've told them not to?.

Like I said there's all sorts of strange folks taking unhealthy obsessions in otherd these days.

Hahaha, good one , I don’t want to embarrass you any further so can we get back to talking about POTUS? Do you think Trump is an amazing business man ? .

Don't worry you haven't embarrassed me at all.

Just made yourself look a bit creepy

Haha, I can live with that , it certainly won’t hinder my chances of meeting people on here .So, POTUS, an amazing business man ? .

No no let's get back to you stalking me every day despite having no sexual interest in me!.

So why the obsession, why is who I meet an interest of yours?.

Are you going to stalk them as well?.

I have made my point, you said it was ok to talk about your profile? If I have upset or embarrassed you then I apologies, let’s get back on topic . POTUS .

What point?.

How was it relevant?.

I am slightly perturbed by your behaviour but not embarrassed, what have I got to be embarrassed about, I'm not the one stalking strangers on the internet "

This point. You said you were hiding your verifications, I pointed out that you had no verifications to hide because we can all see you summary on your profile . This has obviously caused you either embarrassment or confusion ? Can we move on now and discuss POTUS

Hiding, oh yes I reject them when left for me, but why is it of interest to you?. Why would it cause me embarrassment? Again is it not your behaviour which is embarrassing, or do you think obsessive unwanted attention by strangers is ok?.

Exactly, and the bigger and richer countries always get the best deals , that is how it works . Why do you think Trump was so keen for us to leave the EU, it weakens the UK and the EU and makes the USA stronger in trade negotiations

Roosevelt fd

Woodrow Wilson

Ronald Reagan

Gorge bush

Barack Obama.

Trump doesn't make the top ten in percentage terms (well not yet anyway).

Three of the above are Dems two republicans.

By getting a deal that suits them ? They don’t care about the UK why would they, without the NHS on the table Boris has nothing to offer and the US know this . .

We don't need a trade deal, were in surplus under WTO terms.

Any deal that makes that worse we can walk away from.

Haha, you know nothing . Trump is about to play his Trump card, watch Boris crumble .

I'm just stating facts.

You seem to know things nobody knows including Boris and trump.

But trump is a brilliant business man? One of America’s best ever presidents? has seen ‘phenomenal’ economic growth? Would it be fair to say when it comes to trade deals he is way better than Boris ?? .

The UK's way down on his list of who to sort out.

His priorities are China, Mexico and the EU.

We've yet to see Europe pay for it's own defence.

Big changes coming there.

Exactly, we are minor players in the USA eyes we are insignificant, Trump has Boris exactly where he wants him, ripe for picking .

No were in SURPLUS Under WTO we DON'T need a trade deal unless it favours the UK.

Hahaha, you haven’t got a clue what you are talking about .

Were in trade surplus to the USA under WTO terms.

I'm beginning to think your not quite getting that point.

WE DON'T NEED A TRADE DEAL "

Clueless, did you know that Trump engineered the shut down of the WTOs top court, which means it ‘ will no longer adjudicate on trade disputes, putting the world at risk of a free trade free-for-all in which the largest blocs have greater freedom to use their economic weight to do as they wish’ . I wonder why he did that

Left wing hate mobs?

Who was the one who mocked a disabled reporter from a rostrum? Which was the one who boasted that he could shoot someone in the middle of 5th ave. and still people would support him?

I am a little more upset about denocrats aborting full term babies then some face that trump pulls to literally everyone! but I guess me and you are in totally different places. Take care. Be nice x

Are you in favour of the republicans stance on firearms ??.

The Swiss have the exact same stance why don't you ever mention the Swiss and there determination to own firearms under constitutional law?.

Irrelevant, we are taking about the USA, how many mass shootings do they have in Switzerland? Go and check Wikipedia for me .

Most aren't killed by mass shootings but by individuals (Switzerland does have mass shootings) it's

Interesting, what's the USA got that Switzerland doesn't?.

Go on, tell me what the USA have ? I dare you .

I don't know the answer hence the use of a question mark.

Maybe you know?"

I have no idea, please tell me,

.

If you actually examine the figures there's roughly 35,000 gun deaths a year in the USA, half of those are suicide and 37% are murderers.

Mass shootings depending on how you define them are between 85 and 400(2018).

So about 14,000 gun murderers that's what the Swiss don't have is the answer.

As for mass shootings, you've got more chance being struck by lightning.

We can get trade deals where it suits us that we couldn't under EU rules.

That doesn't mean we have to get one with the USA where it doesn't suit us.

The WTO is not on the brink of collapse and even if it is, tarrifs have shown that we'll better off in most deals.

The UK's biggest market is the UK market.

Let's try not to sell that market off first and foremost.

That's unprecedented and hardly to be described as a "blip" unless your completely blinded by bias.

Did you not understand the part about budget deficit increase?

Go away and look at GDP, Budget deficit and the ratio between them.

Then come back and talk about bias .

Ok I did that.

The five worst presidents in history are as follows

Roosevelt fd

Woodrow Wilson

Ronald Reagan

Gorge bush

Barack Obama.

Trump doesn't make the top ten in percentage terms (well not yet anyway).

Three of the above are Dems two republicans."

You just wrote a list and made a statement.

Are you claiming that writing your opinion is meanignful?

That is really a spectacular level of self-regard

"Trump "not guilty" (as we all knew Republicans would back him.....good on Mick Romney tho).

Iowa debacle for Democrats.

Trump won't win 4 more years....the Democrats have already lost their chance...

What do others think?"

Bloomberg could be an interesting wild card though.

He's an actual billionaire who pays some of his taxes and owns a company that pays people things like salaries and does something.

He is far less establishment than Trump now too.

New call centers are opening in Africa. It is simply amazing. Farms created there must first feed starving people over there and then think about trade with other countries.

Why? Because I don’t think there are people who didn’t vote for trump last time that would this time round....

Which means he is defending in wafer thin places like Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania

Trump was helped last time by the democratic choice of candidate...

There are candidates in this field that worry me against trump... I get my chance to vote in the primary in a few weeks time, I have not made my mind up yet!

A trade deal should take a long time. Quick deals are generic deals. And a generic deal will always suit the more powerful partner.

"I'm so sick of left wing hate mobs. I want to see them totally demoralised.

Maybe you know?

I have no idea, please tell me, .

Tell you what?.

Ah, I will answer it for you , the USA has nothing that Switzerland doesn’t? Nothing at all .

Just to clarify, discounting suicides are you more likely to be killed with a gun in the USA or Switzerland ? .

The USA which is why most Americans want to keep there guns under constitutional law (self defence).

Haha, using guns for self defence against people with guns, it’s working well .

In London they use knives for self defence against knife crime."

Washington has a higher rate of knife crime than London.

To be objective, the popular vote did not elect Trump last time. More people voted against him than for him. So, as a measure of sentiment the expectation that Trump would lose is correct.

However, the electoral system functions differently. It's electoral college votes that matter.

Trump was still elected completely legitimately. Is am not questioning that, so let's not pretend that I am.

Crikey I see the old crystal balls are working over time on here.

Just looking back over the last week, I would hazard a guess that the Democratic party hasn't really done themselves many favours lately.

President Trump didn't get impeached, the Iowa fiasco and Pelosi attempting origami at the SOTU, will stick in a lot of the American publics minds, especially swing voters, independents and previous democrats who are fed up with their parties antics.

I think a lot of Democrats would like to see their party doing some useful work instead of fannying around trying to concoct the next wave of accusations. It's boring now, challenge Trump with solid political ideas instead of playground back stabbing games. It's wore a bit thin and a lot of us looking on are laughing, especially at the wannabee teenage high school diva, 80 year old Pelosi!

The one group that can bring trump down is the youth vote. In 2016, the youth vote comprised 20 % of votes cast and about two thirds of them rejected Trump. Since 2016, 7 million people of colour have turned 18 in the US, Not sure of other ethnicities but the figures are significant. Republicans need to do something to grab this significant chunk of new voters . Something to watch out for in the months ahead.

Trump has significantly turned down his overtly racist commentary recently.

The reality is that Republican states have been busy introducing voter suppression laws that will reduce poor and ethnic minority votes.

That's the strategy. Don't mention race for a while and make it as hard as possible for them to vote anyway.

Personally, rather than seeing trump "re-elected" as a generic so called president, once again ! I would far rather see he was "re-cycled" instead ! Preferably, into some cheap brand of pig food, because they will eat anything, even if it is totally disgusting and rotten ! At least that way he really would be contributing in some small way to nature, for the very first time !

He's always been a dirty pig of a man all his life, what better fitting end to a worthless swine of a human being !

There’s only one way to stop Trump retaining the Presidency.

Is it;

1. Ask him nicely to stand down.

2. Hope his ticker gives out during extra marital excursions

3. Hope Scarlett Johansonn is the democratic nominee

4. A grassy knoll makes a comeback

These are the options . Please post your response. These are the only options .

Best way to stop trump is the U.S public to stop and think - what he stands for. Who's interests does he fully back.

Simple answer is he only cares about money $ his personal ego above all else - this is psychological condition, he does not care about the U.S public.

It's actually the opposite, he's trying to attract minority votes and he's doing it by all the poll numbers!.

If he gets 15-20% of the black and Hispanic votes, he'll walk in with a higher voter share than before.

The democrats are desperate for this not to happen which is why they racialise everything he does. Prison reform for non violent offenders, lowest black unemployment in history, the real story is he's doing far more for them than the democrats did.

Trump is corrupt and a 500 billion dollar bankrupt, conman, he does not pay taxes becuase he is a bankrupt, he runs his businesses on multi billion dollar loans - other peoples money - if the banks called them in he would be fucked.
