Continue here, here I will do the countdown just like the other one I did in october last year, so what do you think will happen with only a week left? My prediction is that they wont leave, but here is the twist, they will leave on the day but still remain in the eu but lose some of their say and some privileges. I will have the haribos ready

You are probably correct, we will be ‘leaving ‘ but not ‘leaving’ . Boris will spin it as the most amazing deal ever, Farages response will be a good indication on the extent in which we leave

Stockport

We need the eu, they need us.

We are tied together, not just in trade, but in security, health, travel etc

However, I think lots is going on behind closed doors to try to find a solution, and that may take decade or two.

No-one can predict what will happen, after all they said the £ would collapse, job loss never seen before etc etc

But look now, more employed, pound growing stronger.

Will it get better? Who knows. Will it get worse. Who knows.

Just make the most of it, and react to that.

We (the people) have very little say in things till elections happen, and just have to look at that to work out what people want.

As Rees-Mogg termed it: BRINO (Brexit In Name Only).

What you DO have to admire Boris and his spin-doctors for though, is the way that they were able to demonise Theresa May’s one-off payment to clear our legal obligations as a “Divorce Bill” that cost her the Premiership; he’s paying it off monthly throughout a “transition period” and is hailed as the new Churchill.

There is a 12 month cooling off period anyway. At the end of next year we will really know what it means. For all those red voters that went blue, 2020/21 is going to be a bit of a shock.

This forum is terrible - closing (other) threads because they get too long? Ridiculous.

I was asked elsewhere for proof that the right to live and work in the EU will end post-Brexit. That proof is provided by none other than the prime minister who has reiterated his stance that free movement will end with the end of the transition period.

Yes people may still move abroad, and some will work - but the right for us all to do so will end. That’s not scaremongering.

I know, the cognitive dissonance is insane with some people. Freedom of movement is literally the thing that so many leavers want to end and hence why they voted to leave the EU. So for leave voters to turn around and claim that that right is not going to end shows yet again they didn’t know what they were voting for.

. Coupled with the claim that they want to control our border with the EU ( that is of course apart from where the UK has a land border with the EU )

Speculation based upon existing evidence.

We know what the EU’s 3rd country status looks like. We know the 4 pillars that we’ll be walking away from. We know what trade we currently do now and we know roughly how long a proper trade deal takes to thrash out (hint: longer than 11 months).

The new (European) Blue passports with (European) gold lettering on them will not be issued until the current stock of (British) burgundy coloured passports have been used up.

I have to say it seems a strange way to show are new separation from the EU by choosing new passport colours that are almost an exact match with the EU's flag's colours but that's BREXIT for you.

"

Speculation based upon existing evidence.

We know what the EU’s 3rd country status looks like. We know the 4 pillars that we’ll be walking away from. We know what trade we currently do now and we know roughly how long a proper trade deal takes to thrash out (hint: longer than 11 months).

As you say, speculation.. A couple of things we no longer need to speculate about ,we are getting a new 50p coin and our passports will now be blue

I received a brand new 10 year passport 5 days ago and it is red.......

We haven’t left yet ,

Correct, and for the next 10 years I and countless millions of others will own a red passport."

Just stick a blue cover on it. Or any colour you care to choose.

Amazing. The colour of the passports had nothing to do with the EU. The UK chose the colour.

It's just more meaningless shite that brexiteers bought into.

It is an appropriate symbol of the absolute bullshit of brexit.

65% of Spaniards polled supported a referendum. Sweden and the Dutch are pretty unhappy. The rise of the right across Europe is growing and unhappiness with the EU is becoming commonplace.

Do you ever actually read anything fully?

It's a Pew Research poll. American, not Spanish. Their methodology is usually pretty good and their analysis pretty thorough.

You missed this bit:

"However, this Spanish enthusiasm to vote does not seem to be spurred on by a desire to follow in Britain's footsteps; when asked if they think their country should leave the EU only 13 per cent of Spaniards answered yes (the average across all counties was 18 per cent). And this figure is much lower than the two countries with the highest percentages of prospective leave voters; Greece and Italy, both polled 35 per cent of respondents expressing a wish to part ways with the EU."

Once again, you're welcome

My prediction is that they wont leave, but here is the twist, they will leave on the day but still remain in the eu but lose some of their say and some privileges. I will have the haribos ready "

We will leave.

We will end up with a hard Brexit on services and the customs border between Northern Ireland and the mainland.

We will do some side deals on the car industry and aerospace.

We will take EU rules on everything regardless of any other negotiations.

We will drop tariffs on imports from the rest of the world (government policy) but they won't bother reciprocating as they don't need to.

We will drop corporate tax rates and borrow massively to subsidise foreign investment to retain UK manufacturing and pay for all of the election promises in the teeth of a global recession which this time may not have a coordinated global response.

Interesting times.

So the richer get richer and everybody will "know their place". How are the richer going to get richer exactly? i would like to know as can always do with more money.

You've been in a coma these last four years?

The single purpose of brexit is for the rich to get richer. At the expense of ordinary people.I would like you to explain to someone who has been in a coma the last four years how this exactly is going to happen.

Why? Just read about what's going on in the world around you.

No one is suggesting Brexit is to benefit anyone other than the ultra rich. "

So you have no actual information on how the rich are going to get richer? i thought not just another remain soundbit.

Yawn.

Look. I'm not demanding information from you about why the sun rises in the east and sets in the west.

If you were genuinely interested in who is set to benefit from brexit. You read up on it.

But I'll give you two isolated examples.

1. Investment firms owned by Boris's friends and family, or owned by JRM. Making millions and millions on currency trading by destabilising the pound

2. Corporate America. Those who Farage works for. Who are set to make a killing from picking off a weak UK in trade negotiations.

All this information is freely available. Widely reported upon. You're free to learn about these and the other ways the rich will get richer. At your leisure.

Trading in currency is a risk. Since the initial Brexit vote and the predictable dip, the pound has held up pretty well against the euro and the dollar. The predicted collapse never happened

There is no trade deal yet between the UK and US. More fake news. More doom and gloom. More remoaning. More negativity. What a negative existence

If you believe what you are writing i cant argue with that but dont expect me to believe it.Destabilizing the exchange rate do you know that in 2008 it was one for one for a while? There are many factors to effect an exchange rate and you choose to believe the country is being taken out of the eu so a few can make some more money on an exchange rate.

The Cabinet is, however, staffed by those who have proven to be both dishonest, incompetent and untrustworthy.

Your comment also fails to address the logic laid out in my post for a country on its own in a world of superpowers.

It's interesting how many people on this swinger's site read my profile and think that this is relevant to discussions on economics, government, climate change or racism

"Continue here, here I will do the countdown just like the other one I did in october last year, so what do you think will happen with only a week left? My prediction is that they wont leave, but here is the twist, they will leave on the day but still remain in the eu but lose some of their say and some privileges. I will have the haribos ready

You have so little faith in your country and government.

I shouldn't need faith in government. It should be trustworthy in word and deed.

The Cabinet is, however, staffed by those who have proven to be both dishonest, incompetent and untrustworthy.

The government is not the country so do not try to tie them together to imply that I am unpatriotic.

Your comment also fails to address the logic laid out in my post for a country on its own in a world of superpowers. The people of the country voted for the government so if you are saying you have no faith in the government you are saying you have no faith in the people who voted for it (the counrty is the people)."

What a foolish argument.

It just so happens that this time around the majority of the population did not, in fact, vote for the government even though it has a majority in Parliament. 44% vs 56%

By definition, anyone who voted for anther party does not have faith in the government

Under certain circumstances you may still believe that a government that you did not vote for is competent enough not to be concerned that it will have a significantly detrimental effect on the country. However, that is not my opinion if this government.

Again trying to imply that not thinking that this government is competent is somehow unpatriotic.

How utterly foolish.

They have left the eu but as I have said leave does not mean leave as they will still have alignment with them as they are looking for a deal but it wont be a good one as it is about not to get the worst deal and if nothing happens after 10 month there will be a cliff edge brexit.

You are probably correct, we will be ‘leaving ‘ but not ‘leaving’ . Boris will spin it as the most amazing deal ever, Farages response will be a good indication on the extent in which we leave shag is famous in this forum for never being right. not just him tho was a few others on here who’s predictions have been a bit of a joke funny you don’t see much of them on here now tho lol

What do you predict will happen in the next 12 months? I stay away from predictions I can’t see into the future I do know the more you try predict the future the more stupid you can look this forum as made fools of many that’s why you don’t here much from them I’m sure you will have a go tho fire away lol

I voted to remain I presume you voted leave? are you telling me you don’t know what you voted for??I think that record has been worn out by now "you dont know what you voted for"

Tell me then? Go on, you know you can do it?? You can start with blue passports your turning into the Manc shag lol

Come on, you know the answer? What will happen on the 1st Feb? "

It's now 1st Feb. I'm in Germany and it's pissing down.

Yes and workers rights and as well it seems there will be a hard border in northern ireland in 10 months time which is not good for the peace process there.

Listening to a podcast yesterday where Farage admitted that a second referendum was almost certain to happen until Corbyn and Swinson gave Johnson his election. Interesting to hear that from Farage himself.
