I guess the conservatives will rail road through for the next 5 years anything they want. Including changing the electoral boundaries to benefit themselves. I might move to the house in France after all.

It's a rubbish outcome based on the exit poll, in 2017 it wasn't exactly accurate but it has to be very wrong to avoid a majority for the Conservatives. Sad days.

See its views like this and people voting for torie for the get brexit done slogan.

Brexit wont be anywhere near getting done for years upon years.

If you truly wanted brexit to go away and be done with you needed to vote lib dem or labour and vote remain.

If you think january 31st means brexit is done im sorry but you are very mistaken.

Thats just the withdrawal agreement, you will have years of more brexit.

Well done give yourself a pat on the back.

All done within 100 days as promised? Nobody in his way now, nobody else to blame , the man who couldn’t decide wether he was leave or remain now has to make the final decision . No excuses

There's no decision to make, he just brings the legislation back to parliament, big majority passes it, we leave on Jan 31.

No. Jan 31 2021 is the start date of the trade agreement negotiations. A transition period will start.

We leave Europe on Jan 31st in that we are not part of the EU, our MEPs are no longer MEPs etc. The transition period applies to trade and free movement.

Everything will be the same, but County will not be able to vote in the European Parliament. This is not Brexit.

Everything won't be the same, because finally the country can move on and get on with other things.

What other things do you think the Tories will be getting on with?

Brexit will take years and years to sort out.

Selling the NHS"

That will take them ages too break it up and sell off.

Brexit will take years to sort out and then try to scramble to get some shitty trade deals.

I suppose they can start removing environmental protection and workers rights pretty quickly.

You're not the first person, and probably won't be the last person to deny the meaningful existence of Jews. If you do have Jewish family and "friend", which I very much doubt, they would be ashamed at your attitude. Boris Johnson is by no doubt, a liar, a cheat, a racist and a thoroughly unpleasant person. But he's still more popular than Corbyn. I'm not pro any party and, if I voted in the UK, would probably vote for Labour it rids itself of Corbyn and all the anti-Jewish members. As for the predicted results, what do they tell you? Never piss off a Jew.

"We can start the finger pointing in the morning!"

I'm happy to point the finger right now.

What has happened to Labour tonight is akin to what happened to them in Scotland, years ago.

They've taken their voters for granted; never considering for a moment that they wouldn't see straight through them.

When Blair stole Thatcher's clothes and created 'Tory-lite', England loved it and Scotland was just happy to be rid of Tory government.

After three terms, up here, we could see New Labour for what it was; we wanted more social conscience and less cosying up to the City. We had an alternative, the SNP, and we voted for them.

Now, Labour have tried to fuck over all the people in the North of England and the Midlands who voted to leave the EU - and it's bitten them in the arse.

The Tories are, as far as I'm concerned, the greater of two evils. That said, they were offering the majority of English voters what they wanted - no matter how dismal that is. They were listening.

That's more than Labour have done for decades. To repeat myself, they took Scotland and England, beyond Watford, for granted.

If they had given a shit when Blair was in power, we wouldn't be where we are now.

Obviously, the result of today's election doesn't suit me - but it's democracy; as was the Brexit result and the 2014 IndyRef result.

Boris now has five years to prove he really is a "one nation" Conservative - and that nation isn't just England.

What's democratic about about misleading voters with false news?

I think with the SNP looking like they are on for a virtual wipeout in Scotland, and this brexit deal in Northern Ireland, I think the Union as such is all but dead!

the one saving grace I am holding on to is that we haven't seen what has happened in conservative marginals yet with tactical voting.....

"With a majority as high as that we will finally have a government that can get things done. Brexit first on the list.

Brexit will continue to be the main topic throughout the negotiation period. I suggest you stop dreaming about normality.

Do you know what the worst is? Going overseas and having people laugh at you because they assume you voted leave. Now they will assume we voted Tory too.

I want to have a T-Shirt that says Yes I'm English. No I didn't vote leave. No I didn't vote Tory.

Can you get me one. We are the laughing stock of Europe , it is so embarrassing when people find out I am a British citizen

Seriously. I was talking to a couple in PDI. He was Dutch and she was German and they were talking to each other in Dutch which I understand. They were joking about Brexit in front of us. Got very embarrassed when I stressed we were not leavers. Very eye opening conversation followed...

I have a number of Spanish friends who are bemused by it all. I just shrug my shoulders and try and change the subject

You gotta feel for me here. I was born in Zimbabwe but the country got messed up by brainwashed idiot voters who voted for Mugabe. I then moved to South Africa where the country was destroyed by brainwashed idiot voters. So I came here.

I feel like Jonah. It's like the kiss of death

Haha, so it’s all your fault "

Want to know what's good for a laugh. I lost friends to the communists in Zimbabwe, fought them in South Africa and get called a Marxist over here

So it turns out voting fraud is in full swing again as people turning up at the polling stations are finding someone has already voted in their name.

Then you get postal voters trying their luck in person on the day too. Thankfully many of them have been turned away.

Yes, people used to be decent, but it's about getting your own way now, with cheating being the order of the day.

Corbyn is finished labour isn’t , let’s face facts, Boris has won this election because JC is such a decisive figure. The large majority defeat will change the Labour Party’s entire leadership and direction.

Interim tory leader in Scotland, former used car salesman Jackson Carlaw, has admitted to voting twice - at the polling Station and by postal vote. Caught by his own social media posts

I believe that this is a criminal offence, so it will be interesting to see what transpires.

Imo, Labour lost the north because their policies are seen as too left here in the uk but probably more because of their unsure brexit stance. These losses will help them align more centre left though and its gonna be interesting to see after "brexit" is over how areas react in 5 years.... cant believe the north voted tory

"What's democratic about about misleading voters with false news?"

Nothing. However, propaganda and lies are nothing new in electioneering. They have far wider reach and more rapid effects now than they have ever had - but they've always been part of the process.

If voters are too entrenched in their views, or not well enough informed, that's down to them.

For me, it's a shit result; but it IS a democratic one. Even with all the flaws inherent in the system that allow for it.

Brexit will still be going on in five years time.

I'm guessing it will take labour more than five years to recover from this.

If the UK is set to remain governed by a 'Brexit-lite', right-wing government such as this one, for more than one term, I'd agree.

I think independence for Scotland will come. I just doubt if I'll live long enough to see it.

As for an independent, united Ireland; I'm not sure. They might beat us to freedom; they might not.

But apparently it goes against the grain to ask people to show any form of identity when they go to vote to prove they are who they say they are.

Who'd have thunk thst a piece of card with a name on it wasn't enough?
