Which f'ing idiot thought December was a good time for a GE
Jump to: Newest in thread
I'm out canvasing and doing "reminder to vote" up here North of Liverpool and I'm soaking wet from freezing rain and my canvas cards are turning to mush. I've bumped into a Tory and Labour guy doing the same thing and they looked just a wet and miserable too. Maybe we should just all go to the pub together instead, the Labour woman is a bit of a hottie.

"Well if we had left the EU when we were supposed to have left we would not be having an election today.
You can thank all those MP's (from all parties) who have stopped us leaving so far."
Well said. It was raining in March. |

Johnson didn't vote Tory? That's the first good decision he's made. |

& he cares so much about his constituency that he couldn’t even be bothered to go there and vote! Hopefully the Uxbridge electorate kick him out |

"Corbyn turning up to be greeted by someone dressed as Elmo? I can’t see the correlation!!!
I’m hoping Dianne Abbott wearing odd shoes is fake news. "
Nope, there is at least one picture on line of her with odd shoes on.
God help us all is this person becomes our Home Secretary. ! |

"The really worrying thing is is that, if we get a majority government then, with the fixed-term Parliament, we'll be having General Elections in December once every 5 years from now. "
That doesn't seem to be working though. This is the 3rd election in 4 years.
I would love elections every 5 years. |

To my knowledge the EU does not specify when a member state must have an election |

"Nobody but we had to have one would have been soon but for Corbyn refusing to allow one so Corbyn's fault 100%"
Sorry, the facts are alluding you again. BJ called an election when he didn’t need to. The past3 1/2 years are an entirely Tory fuck up. They had a working majority and threw it away, they could have held back on Article 50 until they had worked out how to negotiate (even buying ‘negotiating for Dummies’ would have helped).
Only the Tory’s are responsible for this monumental cock up, so yay, lets give them another go at making an even bigger cod’s of it! |

555 MP's agreed to honour the result of the EU referendum regardless of the result.
Well it turns out a lot of them decided to screw over the voting public and not honour the result.
That's the problem nothing else. |

The Brexit shitstorm is all the fault of the Tories. Cameron called the referendum to deal with rebels in his own party. He then ran a shitty campaign, lost and ran away to hide in a corner. Arrogant as he was, he'd made no plans whatsoever for what would happen if leave won. That's what's caused this whole problem. There was no planning for leave. The past 3+ years has been a mess as parliament has been trying to figure out a way to do Brexit without fucking up the whole country. As of yet, they haven't figured out a way to do it. |

THIS IS RUMOUR CONTROL. TGESE ARE THE FACTS....
...”After becoming Prime Minister in the summer, Boris Johnson made three attempts at a vote for an early general election under the terms of the FTPA, but each failed to achieve the required two-thirds supermajority.[26][27][28][29] The eventually successful bill, which required only a simple majority to pass (though it could be amended during its passage through Parliament), was proposed by the Liberal Democrat and Scottish National parties on 28 October and adopted by the government the following day (albeit with a Thursday 12 December date rather than Monday 9 December proposed by the opposition parties). An amendment changing the date to 9 December failed by 315 votes to 295.[21] The final Commons vote on the bill passed by 438 votes to 20.....”
So, as Wiki has kindly informed us, the opposition (Mr Corbyn et al) actually voted for 9th not 12th December. |
