Interesting insight from a non Conservative Central HQ fact checking organisation:

“Nearly 90% of Facebook ads paid for by the Conservative Party in the first few days of December contained misleading claims, an investigation has found.

First Draft – a non-profit organisation which works on debunking fake news – analysed every ad promoted by the UK’s three main political parties on the social media giant in the first four days of December.

It found 88% of the Conservative’s Facebook campaigning pushed figures challenged by Full Fact, the UK’s leading fact-checking organisation.

By comparison, First Draft said that it could not find any misleading claims in ads run by Labour on Facebook over the same period.”

88% of their ads have lies in them - how can anyone vote for them? What happened to integrity, at the very least do not vote for these charlatans. You have no idea what they will actually do if they get in. Choose any other party (other than UKIP obvs) and lets try to get back to a bit of honesty.

Some may call us niaive in asking for this, but it is up to us as the electorate to do something about it

Bristol East

I went into Facebook this morning and quickly left.

It was overflowing with "paid for" messages from the alt-right.

No Thanks.

If you've not seen it I'd recommend The Great Hack on Netflix, about Cambridge Analytica and their manipulation of the electorate in various different countries.

The nefarious methods which are now being employed to influence the public make the New Labour spin doctors of the nineties and nighties seem like rank amateurs. Misinformation and targeted fear mongering are getting ever more sophisticated and the big tech companies are complicit.

Funnily enough, when it comes to digital rights the EU offer a lot more protection than other political organisations. Another reason why Brexit would suit an authoritarian regime.

A dystopian future beckons us unless we put a stop to this. Please vote against the Tory’s. They do not care about ordinary people. If you don’t know what ordinary people look like, look in a mirror!

I saw this story today. It will make no difference. Loads of people don't seem to care the Tories keep lying through their teeth about every damn thing. I'm sure somebody will pop up sooner or later on this thread to argue with the facts or dodge the issue entirely.

You did dodge the issue... you tried to move from an objective matter - the proven lies of the Tories - to a subjective one - your belief that Corbyn's policies will damage the country. That's super dodgy.

I'm not sure who you're talking to now. I'll answer, though.

You didn't even mention Tory lies-the topic of this thread- until now. So you did dodge the issue. 100%.

The tactic you used is one I keep seeing from Tory defenders on here. Whataboutism. The tried and tested method used most prominently by the Russians and the USSR to pivot conversations away from their own issues. So instead of addressing the thread topic, you said "what about the other side!".

If you agree that the Tories are liars then that's just fine. The rest of your post is unnecessary, subjective deflection. Dodging.

Not just about Brexit. Time for changes. The Tories had their time and could not make good use of it this time. All they did was make a mess and divide society and spread hatred among the people. They haven't done anything good in the country for over 9 years.

However the title of your post is highly misleading. A misleading claim is not a lie. Different people or organisations will interpret facts in different ways. I am sure that most members of the public have sufficient common sense to make a judgement call on how politicians interpret data.

Judgement day will be Friday morning. The only result that counts is the one returned at the ballot box.

If one party get elected we will have two leaders who support terrorism and policies designed to wreck the economy .

Elect the other party and the will of the people will be respected. Their policies will ensure a prosperous future for everyone in the UK .

The good times are about to begin. We will receive confirmation on Friday morning.

Some may call us niaive in asking for this, but it is up to us as the electorate to do something about it However the title of your post is highly misleading.

How's the weather in Siberia this time of year?"

"I saw this story today. It will make no difference. Loads of people don't seem to care the Tories keep lying through their teeth about every damn thing. I'm sure somebody will pop up sooner or later on this thread to argue with the facts or dodge the issue entirely. You dont need to dodge the question just look at the alternative, there is non corbyn will fuck this country for decades with his policies.

Thank you for proving my point by trying to dodge the thread's issue entirely.I didnt dodge your question i answered it by saying there is no alternative unless you want to fuck the country."

Why?

Most of his policies are incredibly successful in other countries, many of which have a higher quality of life than we do.

I'm not expecting a sane answer to this, by the way- there have several leading economists endorsing Corbyn's policies but apparently "bloke down the pub" knows better.

Most of Scandinavia for a start, and yes, they have higher rates of income tax.

No, they have higher rates of income tax for higher earners than we do. Income tax rates for higher earners here are at the lowest rate they have been since world war 2. They also don't have one of the lowest rates of corporation tax on the planet, unlike us.

"Labour would have took us back to the 70s "

You remember the 70's then???

Don't believe the shit you read in the newspapers (and if you read the shit online then it's even less truthful), there was a power struggle between the workers and the management (ie. The rich and the poor) that was only ended when thatcher turned up and sold the country and destroyed the unions.

The rights of workers have been eroded ever since although they have been kept reasonably sane by our membership of the EU.

Whoops, we just spaffed that one up the wall....
