Jump to: Newest in thread
"For years I hear MPs from different parties all disagreeing with each other because they belong to different political parties. No Conservative MP will say Labour have a good policy on something and visa-versa because they are in opposing parties. MPs belonging to a Party are often on a 3 line whip and have to vote the way their party directs them - which may be totally against their own and their constituents desires. But what if all Partys were dissolved and every member of Parliament was an independent and got elected on their beliefs and votes how they feels about each issue with consideration to their constituents input. Just wanted to put this concept out there because I am so sick of all the political parties at the moment who fail to deliver anything other than noise and arguements against everything suggested by anyone other than themselves. " It is good that policies do work for both sides, and yes concencus is good in that way but we all have slightly different ideas so we have to unite under a party,if we do not the chaos would be worse than it is now. The big problem is modern polititions are selfish and do not believe in compromise.Without compromise you have chaos, but internet man does not seem to see this.

" How would each potential mp put forward their beliefs on every subject to their constituency it would be a minefield and nobody would ever get voted in.Sorry mate just wont work in my eyes.

" A higher proportion of independent MPs might be good. The whip seems to become stronger and governments don't bother to try to persuade with logic as much as bully and bribe.
