Something I heard today which was quite interesting. Boris Johnson’s seat in Uxbridge has been flagged as “at risk” which means he could lose in an election. The PM has to be a member of Parliament and if he loses the seat in Uxbridge then he would not be PM. That’s why most PM’s are usually in a very safe seat  |

This illustrates precisely why we do not directly elect our Prime Minister.
If the leader of a party loses their seat (or fails to get elected - eg Nigel Farage to date) then he/she can not become Prime Minister and the party with the majority of MP's (or the most MP's in the case where no one party gets an overall majority) will have to elect a new leader.
Of course, this would bring up the argument again, by those who don't understand how our parliament works, about the PM being unelected |

Billshut? Irony? No way! It’s true! We need to forget the EU. Corbyn will forge wonderful trading relationships with Russia, China and North Korea. We won’t suffer polluted chicken for USA as we won’t trade with them, only with communist countries. Our trade with EU will die and we will become s glorious new socialist utopia. Momentum will fix it that Corbyn is made President for life, just like President Xi in China. A dawning of a great new age after a Labour landslide after this election! |
