It's topsy turvy upside down land.
The DUP is furious the Union is enforcing a law on them, and the Nationalists are happy.
The laws defaulted through from Great Britain after they could not bring their political parties together to discuss the issues.

Their stance on these issues and some others defies anything even approaching logic.
Its bizarre and fascinating to watch though, I never thought Id see such a situation in my life anyway lol |

About time the laws got synced up on these matters. As for the Irish parties complaining, they have been told for years, form your own government or Westminster will act to put laws through as the situation cannot go on forever where there is no government. They can hardly say they didn't know it was coming! |

Closer to three. January 2017 was the collapse. Some of the obstacles have now been removed though so it may get slightly easier. The rhi report is imminent as well and that may be another obstacle removed. |

Was it something to do with the DUP refusing to allow the Irish language to be used in state schools and government in the partitioned part of Ireland?
Anyone for banning Welsh in Wales or Gaelic in Scotland because Wales and Scotland are part of the UK? Just asking because for a party that demands that NI be treated exactly the same way as the rest of the UK there seem to be a lot of issues where they also demand the opposite.
Could it be that the DUP are slope headed, knuckle dragging bigots that have long outlived their day and really need to be consigned to the pages of history? |

The ‘Irish’ parliament has been functioning for years now (we think).
The ‘Northern’ Irish parliament, on the other hand, hasn’t.
There is a whole several million people (and a country) of a difference. |

It’s closed because of a scandal involving payouts to various politicians involving a so called ‘environmentally friendly’ scheme. ‘Cash for Ash’. |

Walt - do you actually know anything about anything? There has been no functioning assembly/ executive in Northern Ireland for approx 1000 days because Martin mcguiness resigned, resulting in Sinn Fein walking out of stormont. As for the Irish language, it is taught openly and with state backing/ funding in schools across Northern Ireland. Everyone is free to speak Irish if they wish. |
