"Looking like a customs border in Irish sea "
Which was the original backstop Mrs May and the EU agreed to.
Mrs Foster spat the dummy, so Mrs May hurriedly rewrote it so the customs union covered the whole UK, not just Non Iron.
Anyway, since the extremists in the Conservative Party have said they will veto ANY agreement with EU, what chance does this have of majority support in the UK Parliament? |

The odd are the dup will support it in some form or other ,
agreeing deal = northern Ireland remaining in united kingdom
Hard brexit with border checks on the island = united Ireland sooner rather than later .

There must be a lot of disappointed posters who fell for the labour line boris is "a liar, wants no deal, cant be trusted" today with both Leo Varadkar and Barnier wanting to intensify private negotiations and describing this mornings talks as constructive. |

Hardly.
At the start of the week, No 10 was dissing the EU and their supporters were hurling childish insults at Mrs Merkel.
By the end of the week, they've changed their tone.
Rhetoric, that's all it is.
The extremists in the Conservative Party have already declared they will vote down ANY agreement with the EU.
So there is an awful lot of posturing here, people positioning themselves to ensure someone else gets the blame.
Because one thing is certain - whatever the outcome, a lot of people will be very unhappy.
And the only certainty at the moment is we're heading straight into an election after Oct 31. |

Of course we are corbyn should have had the election when he had the chance if this does get over the line (which is still a long shot but looking more likely than yesterday)boris will mop up the brexit party voters and corbyn would have blown his chance to form a coalition as couldnt win outright anyway. |

"Corbyn's position is pretty clear to me.
He'll move a General Election just as soon as the risk of crashing out on Oct 31 has been eliminated.
" well lets hope so then once he is defeated we can have a more credible leader of the opposition. If the withdrawal agreement does go through on the 31st he is toast. |

I'm not so sure.
Labour wants a General Election fought on the traditional issues.
It does not want a GE fought on Brexit lines.
If the UK has left the EU on Oct 31, be it in an orderly or disorderly way, domestic issues are to the fore again.
If the UK has not left the EU on Oct 31, it's all about Brexit again. |

Boris lost no matter what happened. Leaving the Union without a deal will not take place. The EU agreement will be rejected by parliament. There will be an extension of brexit and there will be GE in which the conservatives will lose and the reason for the loss will be the lack of brexit. |

He may succeed but the parliament will reject it. Boris is on soft legs and that is why he gave another offer so he is not a liar now how do you feel after believing and repeating labours lies? a little foolish i would think.
He is a proven liar as everyone who keeps up with the philandering racist sex pest knows. Having faith and confidence in Boris’ brexit is rather like buying a winning lottery ticket - you know in your heart that its going to cost you many times more than you ever stand to win but the chance of the big prize makes you ignore the odds and carry on gambling - just remember the bank always wins! Been reading posts on here for weeks now "hes a liar doesn't want a deal" well he must be a good one because it seems he has fooled leo and barnier as they seem to think he does. But hey ho i guess you have met him more times than them so know him better.
The problem is that you can't see why he gave another offer and it is logical why he did it. As we can see not for everyone See now you are making yourself look silly again nobody knows what has been discussed as both sides are refusing to talk about it in public so you have no more of a clue than anyone else. What you want to believe and what is true are not the same thing.I would wait and see what kind of agreement is reached (or not) before commenting as it makes you look desperate."
The more I do not understand why you are commenting anything. Brexit is a huge mess and no one really knows what will happen. I am sure that brexiters are falling into despair but they can thank for it for themselves and their heroes. So far, brexiters write only stupid things and strange theses that have nothing to do with reality. |

The electorate of England will go the same way as the electorate of Northern Ireland and Scotland, and divide along nationalist and unionist lines.

In the Orwellian world of English nationalism, the lie becomes the truth, and those who call it out are denounced for a lack of patriotism.

I've got more than a clue about what the electorate will do and, for about 1/3 it's what you think, for about another 1/3 it's definitely not what you think. It's all going to down to the other 1/3 and how they judge Jonson's performance that will decide how this all ends. |

I don't think so. Labour stands no chance of getting a large BREXIT vote; regardless what its actual BREXIT policy is; it's only play is to go for the Remain vote and packing a bad deal, or even possibly any deal, won't help Labour get those votes.

Deary me. You need to look more closely into the data. Even in Labour seats that voted strongly Leave more Labour voters voted Remain than Leave. The only exception to this general rule is in a few seats in North East England. |

Personally, as I'm not a Labour supporter, I'm perfectly OK with them loosing 40 seats. The question in the next General Election is not, in my opinion, whether Labour looses seats or not but rather whether they'll loose more seats by either backing Remain, backing Leave or sitting on the fence. I think Labour will loose the most votes if it backs Leave, especially any Johnson Leave, a little less by sitting on the fence, and the least by backing Remain. Labour data analysts will have looked at exactly the same data as myself and will more than likely have come to a similar conclusion; hence the slow but steady move of Labour from reluctant Leave to reluctant Remain.

The “ordinary working bloke” is just as divided as they ever were and now wants it all to end because they know its a shit storm and they are fed up of it so they will cheerfully shoot themselves in the foot just to be able to get on with life.

"Said it before on here .......Boris Johnson is a lot more popular than people think !!!!....All these know it all MP s ...bbc bias ...know it all remainers ..only have themselves to blame for making Johnson even more popular.....I’m no fan of Johnson but all the negativity towards him has backfired...the ordinary working bloke/ woman just wants him to get on with it and get brexit done now
I'd tend to agree
The “ordinary working bloke” is just as divided as they ever were and now wants it all to end because they know its a shit storm and they are fed up of it so they will cheerfully shoot themselves in the foot just to be able to get on with life.
The people who said they were taking back power by leaving the EU are going to walk away from the problem and so choose to let the elite take control over their lives. Maybe democracy is dead? Democracy is dead if we do not leave the EU that is certain
Even if more people want to stay in the EU than leave it?
-Matt................Who says more people want to stay in ?????"
I'm not. We don't know. But pretty much every poll since seems to suggest that is the case.
My point was, would they still consider 'democracy dead' if there was a referendum and 'remain' won and Brexit was cancelled?

Mwaaahhh...
Stagecoach is a Scottish company.
Arriva is owned by DB which is a German company
An the recently bankrupt WrightBus are famous for building the Boris Buses which had dodgy batteries, so they went round London creating diesel pollution. |

Bojo has not won a vote yet....He has blustered and waited for the EU to cave in to his wit and charm. Well were still waiting and it seems he is now in a panic and will no doubt sell any and all to achieve his aim of leaving on the 31st.
Will he get the May plan with some bells and whistles on through parliament? Possibly not as he has rubbished 21 of his own side...Always a sign of a true leader that trait.
Oh and just to pop your Bojo balloon he has now apparently renaged on his promise to clear our troops of past "crimes" doing the work our Govt sent them out to do....So a glorious amoral arse of a man ...Your confidence in him is touchingly naive ..... |

True the world will not stop! We will wipe ourselves out way before then
But things will get a whole lot more complicated to do business with EU countries costing businesses more money which they will pass onto us |

You mean the great Boris...The man who said Brexit and negotiating trade deals was "easy"...Is fallible ? Divisive? dare i say more than a little incompetent ?.....Wow he needs an election but also knows that he is in a corner....He is in trouble and he is in a sweat....Maybe Gove was really the only Tory with the forensic attention to detail and intelligence to actually be capable of getting a "Good deal"...Boris will sell his soul and ours as well, to keep his goal of out by the 31st...No matter how many jobs and how much money it costs..His vanity must be satisfied at all costs |

The only one intended to win is Johnson. He wants to continue the PM job, so anyone else will be used for that end. He was threatened as being the shortest term PM, which isn't acceptable to his ego. He now needs to manipulate the extremists - DUP and ERG brexit extremists that May elevated,,whilst not making concessions.
As far his current lies- the Irish sea border, leaving NI to gain easier trade is probably the likely goal he has, but anything will be said and done to twist you to his continuation as PM. |

"what sort of shit is he filling the irish with making false promioses"
A no deal Brexit is a disaster for everyone concerned.
Bodger did not give any impression of wanting a deal. He wanted to force a general election to kill the Brexit Party with ultra tough anti-EU rhetoric.
The "no deal" threat was killed by Parliament, yet here we are discussing a potential deal.
Essentially he has thrown the DUP under the bus and given Northern Ireland away.
Abject surrender. Claiming to be defending the UK but literally giving a part of our country away.
Regardless there are a myriad of other matters to negotiate on and this is still only a transition agreement.
There will be an extension and probably a second referendum to get it through Parliament. |

So, am I the only one who thinks that all this yummy positive stuff in the queens speech is Boris’s desperate attempt to curry favour with the floating Brexit voters in order to bring them back to the Tory party before the next GE? |

TBH you have a point. We can only possibly do better than I fear with Johnson at the helm but that's not really much of a recommendation.
