Shut down the Politics forum
Jump to: Newest in thread
This was probably the worst idea ever by Fab.
I mean, giving us daft nuggets the platform to sew division and hate?
Great idea. NOT!
My Dad always told me, with friends, there are 3 things you NEVER discuss.
Money.
Religion.
Politics.
So, my idea is this...ban them.
Just like certain other subjects are banned... junk the Politics forum and replace it....wiiiith, shit, I hadn't thought this far...erm, kittens...yes, kittens, lovely fluffy kittens.

As ive said before, the politics section is a great mirror of the national interest in politics. About 8 people care, but they're your kinda professional moaner, just a bit too lazy to go to whatever "anti" rally happens to be popular at the time. Most others are here to take the piss out of them... no one else gives a fuck. |

One of the main reasons why I stay on Fab is for this forum.
It is the only site I know where you can actually get a reasonable balance of both sides of the argument. Most other sites are normally totally dominated by either one side or the other.
In this regard I do actually miss some of the more ardent BREXITERS who either no longer post or have gone UNLOS. |

Im not surprised they don't post, being labelled a gammon, racist or plain thick isn't going to encourage anyone to hang around. |

It's fascinating to see how some people say they think and view the world. There are some great people here and, as politics has a massive influence on life, it would be a bit abstract and weird not to discuss such matters. I liked it when within the general lounge area, as more people contributed but better here than banning it.
It's got to be better than fuck, kiss, beer, pass. |

It's one of the best forums on Fab, definately has the catalytic content to wind most posters up with the fanatical flatulence that always hangs around politics!
I have lost count of the popcorn I have consumed following the shenanigans. |

Lots of things either never happen or haven't happened yet. Doesn't mean you can't prove they either would, could or will, nor that they are far more likely to happen than other possibilities.

OMG...
There’s is no such thing as 100% proof
Proof implies there is no margin for error.
Nobody can prove things will always fall.
We don’t have proof in the scientific community we have evidence.

A theory is only a theory if it can be backed up with effective evidence, that's called proving a theory. And just because it's a theory doesn't mean it's not a fact too. I give you gravity an an example. |

There's a very big difference between a scientific theory (such as the theory of relativity) and the way 'theory' is used in every day language. Suggest you go google it.

Proof isn't really relevant? Hmm maybe you don't understand how these things work, but the point we're discussing here is at the top of the quoted text.
I'll help you out, I'll paste it here, then you'll be up to speed.. ok?

The use of the word "proved" is the point of discussion. Also you should probably be aware that quotations or links from wikipedia hold literally no weight here.

I'd hazard a guess a few regular posters actually research before they post, hence why they are probably correct on every post regarding facts over opinions |

There are few countries with political structures more complicated than Belgium.
Belgium is a country few have heard of, even fewer have visited and even fewer have any regard for.
However, for those in the know, the finest steak and chips can be discussed over the finest lager and Jules Destrooper biscuits.
Eventually, I'll get to the point of this comment. When the terrorist who reigned over Paris went into hiding in Belgium, the Belgian government asked the Belgian people to be respectful of national security and of the work which the security forces were carrying out in order to track down the terrorist.
What did the good people of Belgium do whilst their country was in lockdown?
They took advice and posted cat pictures on faceache, twotter, instashag and everywhere else they could think of to post cat pictures.
OP, you've actually suggested a good idea! |

I wasn't referring to the text you quoted. I was merely trying to educate you on the difference between the word 'theory' colloquially and a scientific theory.
Do you want really want to double down and try and tell me there is no such difference?
If you don't like wikipedia, go put 'scientific theory definition' into google and read any of the many, many answers which explain the difference.
Relativity has been proven by time differentials on earth and satellites. "
See what I mean?
People just can't help but get into an argument in here, it's like they come to the Politics Forum primed and ready, you can almost hear the "walk on" music. |

"This was probably the worst idea ever by Fab.
Who's on board?
OP, you've actually suggested a good idea!"
How very dare...with...wait, did you say I had a good idea?
Holy cow...it's been 10 years, but I've finally cracked it! |
