The eu referendum was effectively an opinion poll because it has no legal standing, the poll was advisory and intended to inform parliament.
17,410,742 people voted to leave the eu ,this number represents 51.7% of those who voted,it also represents 37% of the electorate(ie those eligible to vote) and 27% of the population
This means 63% of the electorate and 73% of the population did not vote for brexit,
Every day in the uk media, someone states that brexit is the majority will of the British ppl .so my point is this should not go unchallenged as it was just an advisory poll |

Strictly speak the 2016 referendum was a type of referendum known as pre-legislative or consultative, which enables the electorate to voice an opinion which then influences the Government in its policy decisions.
Britons turned out in huge numbers to vote on their future in the European Union, with 72.2 per cent of registered voters casting their ballots in Thursday's referendum, the Electoral Commission said.
"Counting Officers have verified that a total of 33,568,184 ballot papers will be included in the count for the referendum. Based on a confirmed electorate of 46,500,001, turnout at the referendum was 72.2 percent," the watchdog said.
So I would question the statistics in the post. As James O’Brien said “Remember if you don’t vote you don’t really get to moan about whatever the results might be.”
The key word is Registered voter not Eligible voter. If you don’t register you can’t vote even if you are eligible.
In the 1975 referendum on British membership of the then European Economic Community, 25,903,194 people voted - 64.6 per cent of those eligible. |

Even fewer people voted to renain, and even more people did not vote to remain.
It is true that the referendum was advisory. It was Parliament that put Brexit into law. So if you want to apportion blame, then blame Parliament - not the leave campaign, nor the remain campaign, nor the government of the day.
Parliament voted to join the EEC by a majority of 112.
Parliament voted to leave the EU by a majority of 384 - with just 114 MPs voting against. |

You the original Mr Snowflake are the one dividing our great nation by your constant moaning . I’d go further and say you have divided it for a generation now as whatever happens no democratic vote will ever be respected again. |

That's funny, I'm sure we were told, once again, that "This is it! A one time for all time vote. In or out. We will implement what you decide!"
So I don't know where all that advisory stuff came from.
As we see, that would have only been the case for a remain result.
That was immediately followed on the leaflet by them telling us we should vote remain.
Isn't that bias? |

That's the problem with everything
Cameron said he would implement the referendum result.
Cameron only arranged an advisory referendum.
There's 2 types of referendum.
Advisory wwhich is an opinion poll that doesn't have to be acted upon.
Legally binding where I believe it gets passed into Law that the result HAS to be followed.
You don't listen because it's been explained over and over again.
So Cameron promised to act upon the result from a advisory referendum then jacked his job in basically the next day so legally nothing stands about the referendum.
Cameron's promises went with him.
Nobody after that or even before that has any legal obligation to carry out Brexit at all because it wasn't legally binding.
Now I'm not saying Brexit should be ignored and scrapped because it was only advisory, Brexit should be implemented on a moral ground but you have to understand the difference between advisory and legally binding because you keep forgetting or trying to make changes to history because you don't like what has already happened. |

Everything there rests with their own national governments and where a rerun was done was after changes to the treaties which were then accepted.

Labour has come full circle with their rhetoric and are now bleating that the latest deal proposed will wreck the economy, hoping that that particular bandwagon will gain traction.
How many times must these dimwits be told that the brexit vote was not about the economy. It beggars belief that that after 3 years that is the best they can come up with. We all knew Brexit would hurt the economy, it's why I voted to remain as I knew what would ensue was 2 years of painful agonising navel gazing which has now turned into 3 years of it.
FFS lets have a deal, any old deal will do and let's honour the result of the referendum and stop this incessant going round and round in circles. Arghhhhhhhhh. |

Its called attrition darling and its how shitty deals get through instead of accepting that any deal will be worse than what we have now and dont even get me started on no deal. Who stands to gain from all this? It isnt you or I, so dont capitulate because its a massive pain in the arse....see it through to the bitter end and know that you made the right choice and can be proud of standing up for truth and honesty |

Really? So you're only too happy the EU do this to nations and dismantle their democracy?
That's called dictatorship and is highly soviet-like, hence the EU really operate more like a USSR than an United States of Europe.
I would have thought that was a stark warning to get out of the EU, while we can.
I can't understand why some people almost worship the EU. Well actually I can; EU indoctrination being pushed onto kids at a young age like religious dogma by education systems largely funded by the EU (sometimes known as bribing), and the incessant shit we get fed through the liebox every day (but not me since I got rid of my TV years ago for cost reasons and now can never go back).
No wonder we end up with processed blockheads (that's what the EU think of people, not me) with babies shown as normal shape, as illustrated on more than one EU poster. |

In each and every case, national politicians of sovereign states acted in what they thought was in the best national interest of their country.
It's called political judgement.
Not that it fits with the conspiracy theory, but hey ho.

Power over a country's budget?
Those who understand how a single currency works do indeed wish that was the case.
Fiscal union as well as monetary union.
It's untrue, however - no country is ready to give up sovereignty.
The only "control" I am aware of stems from the Maastricht Treaty - that all member states must not exceed a deficit of 3% of GDP.
The UK included.
That said, several countries, Germany and France included, have exceeded this requirement at times, without any sanction or penalty.

" Well you have just answered your own question Germany and france. yes they inspect a countries draft budget and the country can ignore it but could face legal action so yes i would call that power over a countries budget. |

I wonder why leavers need to create a fictional set of circumstances that do us all wrong just so they can hate against something
So much bullshit has been posted on this forum for years now creating imaginary bogeymen doing things they don't even have the power to do just so it gives leavers a made up target to throw their hate at.

IRELAND 2008 - Lisbon Treaty - 53.1% against.

GREECE 2015 - Euro Bailout - 61.3% against.

That seems like a lot of evidence that it's ok to ignore the Brexit result. LOL
If these are all correct it also shows that the EU just does what it wants despite what the people want another reason for getting out.Now i understand why the remain mp,s seem to think that the electorate dont matter.
Oh c'mon your being just as deluded as the original poster mate.
I think you'd find the decisions have all been made by the National Government's and not the EU.
People like you make up power the EU just doesn't have to put them in a bad light.
By all means, dig up something true and post about it but it's so weak to take the decisions of National Government's and blame the EU for it.
Yes the national governments who are pandering to the Eu,s whims why else would they go against the wishes of their people? they use the carrot ans stick method to get what they want. The Eu even has the power over a countries budget.
So you admit the decisions have been made by the Sovereign States yet you still blame the EU
I wonder why leavers need to create a fictional set of circumstances that do us all wrong just so they can hate against something
So much bullshit has been posted on this forum for years now creating imaginary bogeymen doing things they don't even have the power to do just so it gives leavers a made up target to throw their hate at.
I really don't know if it's something to laugh about or dispare at " I dont hate the eu i just dont want to be part of it.There is enough behind the scenes deals being done by uk mp,s to get their own way and fuck what the people think without another load of freeloaders doing the same. |

No wonder we end up with processed blockheads (that's what the EU think of people, not me) with babies shown as normal shape, as illustrated on more than one EU poster."
I wonder if you have ever considered that you might be as much of a deluded person as you think remainers all are? The fact that you tell us you dont have a tv and then go on to say that we are all being indoctrinated by the BBC inder the auspices of europe is quite frankly odd. If you had a tv and bothered to watch question time or Peston you might just might have a valid point but at the moment your post sounds more like hyperbole than cogent thinking!
Past your bedtime methinks!

Well you have just answered your own question Germany and france. yes they inspect a countries draft budget and the country can ignore it but could face legal action so yes i would call that power over a countries budget."
You highlight a fundamental weakness of the single currency.
Monetary union without fiscal union.
Monetary policy is controlled from the centre but fiscal policy is not.
So you end up with heavily indebted states becoming a drag on the rest because they can set their own tax and spend levels.
That is because no states in the EU are willing to give fiscal control to a central body.
Contrast that with the UK.
We have had monetary union and fiscal union since 1707.
Both highly centralised - London determines monetary policy and fiscal policy, too.
No room there for any member state running up unaffordable debts.
The architects of the Eurozone would like the British model but it simply will never happen - sovereignty is too entrenched within the member states.
Here, sovereignty was wrested from the member states at the outset and never relinquished.
That is why I chuckle when people complain about the EU centralising powers - it's fundamental weakness is that, unlike the UK, it cannot.
