Poor Mrs Leadsom.
12 hours after insisting it wasn't in the public's interest to see the scenario planning . . . the government decides it is in the public interest and makes her look a fool.
Another Noddy whose ambition way exceeds her ability.

We don't have any post Brexit facts. But we do know the Brexit process has reduced the value of the UK currency by a quarter, cost billions which is spent and no longer available for our countries needs. Destroyed our political system.
We will see what delights it brings us once it is done. |

I don't think that was a "nasty" comment. Certainly not up to the standard you have set.
Would you now like to refute this government of leavers analysis of just how damaging a no deal Brexit would be? |

This is a leave backing government document on likely outcomes of leaving with no deal. I personally don’t want the country to go to hell in a handcart to show I was right. If we leave with no deal I hope my fears are wrong. But it isn’t scaremongering or nasty to point out that there is a high chance of it all turning to shit and that is also the government assessment of the situation. |

Having worked with civil servants they are generally restrained in their comments. Until we get to a no deal exit it is all hypothetical, but I think it is likely at least some of these things will come true. I hope not, but hope is a poor substitute for detailed analysis. |

Well yes, they've changed the title of the document to "Operation Yellowhammer: HMG Reasonable Worst Case Planning Assumptions" but it's still the same document that was originally called "HMG Planning Assumptions; Base Scenario".
So is it really a "Reasonable Worst Case" or a "Base Scenario".
And isn't "Reasonable Worst Case" an oxymoron? I mean it's either a "Reasonable Case" or a "Worst Case". By definition it can't actually be both.

No this is a mitigation document of likely outcomes varying from small to severe produced so you can mitigate against some of the problems.

Isn't it funny how remain voting people who have been saying Brexit is a bad idea because of x y and z are now branded as nasty by leavers because we've been right about x y and z for over 3 years

"So, when will the documents that lists all the benefits of Brexit and the mitigation for celebrating crowds and joy to all get released "
All the benefits of BREXIT were apparently collated and placed in a document for circulation but unfortunately someone spilt a drop of coffee on the document before it got copied completely obliterated the content. Regrettably one can now remember what they were.

No, the document is not worst case.
This is "reasonable worst case", which probably means a 50% confidence estimate.
The worst case is the most extreme combination of circumstances - the most improbable but not impossible. I doubt any of us want to read that.
This is within the probable bounds of normality. Something that is reasonably foreseeable.

It may work to the Government's advantage.
A classic Government technique when preparing the public for bad news is to float how really bad things could be.
Then, when things turn out to be bad, but not as bad as people were prepared for, people think it is quite good, they breathe a sigh of relief and congratulate the Government.

Rees Mogg won't have to pay his tax.
Rees Mogg and Johnson will make shit load of money currency trading.
Aaron Banks and Tim Martin will be able to treat their workers much worse after workers rights are erroded.
The US sponsors of the Brexit campaign will make shit loads of money with an extremely one sided trade deal where they can sell us hormone pumped meat and dairy and other sub par products at over extortionate prices.
The Russian funders of the brexit campaign can indirectly benefit form a weak UK and a slightly weakened EU.
There's a couple of advantages.
If you were asking for the UK as a whole or for the people. There are no benefits for us on a no deal brexit or even under a less damaging, but still shit, deal. |

Nope, what has kept wages low is the government being unwilling to set a realistic minimum wage, and legislation eroding the power of unions. |

Oh come on....its been an ill considered shit show from word go and if the opposition had not been so focused on getting their house in order there might have been some genuine thought put into the referendum campaigning. The only people who stand to benefit from this are the very wealthy. Farage, Dyson, Banks all have bad faith with the EU and have vengeance on their minds, and JRM, Branson, and the like are running away from the potential unraveling of their sources of wealth. |

May/Hammond said they were preparing for a No deal scenario - it’s clear now - they were not . Preparations and plans for a possible no deal scenario were behind . That has now changed and more preparations are being made. More than a month has passed since yellowhammer was first published
All Companies and organisations involved with brexit preparations were previously required to sign NDAs - to avoid any information (or lack of information!) being leaked . I understand now that such companies and organisations are no longer required to sign NDAs (except in the most sensitive areas - national security etc)
Gov.uk has regular updates now on brexit and possible no-deal exit plans.
You want a basic example of getting ready - electronic display signs above motorways informing freight carriers - after October Eu cargo may require new paperwork - make sure you have checked you have the required documents
Another example - bulletin from gov.uk regarding product standards markings . After October product will still need to confirm to same standards but for the uk market a different logo is required to be on the product . Good solid information on what you need to do and the timescales and grace periods allowed ...
Planning and preparation Is going on ... we just don’t necessarily see it on the front of the tabloids or news bulletins - ranting and raving politicians seems to be more entertaining!

It would be irresponsible to not make projections for an absolute worst case scenario and not plan and make arrangements for it .
Hence yellowhammer and the quickening of planning and making arrangements .
The stuff on the periphery- of no consequence to what is actually required to plan for and make arrangements to leave - with or without a deal. |

It’s interesting reading this compared to threads with the phrase ‘Brexit’ in the title. Reading this thread it appears public support for Brexit is now very low. If you read any with Brexit in the title opinion is far more divided. I assume that many of those advocating for Brexit at any cost will be not wanting to engage with this difficult document. |

Yellow hammer looks at the shock to the system in the first days and weeks, whereas I suspect the real pain will be months and years hence.
Economic contraction, recession, inflation, £ depreciation, industrial action in sectors facing collapse.
The usual tool for controlling inflation is interest rates. But given that household indebtedness is now back at 2007 levels, that would be disastrous for many.
The only remedy I can see is a massive spending programme by Government.
Brexit will expose the brutal truth about Britain's productivity gap - a shocking lack of investment in skills, training and infrastructure.
We've been insulated from its effects while in the single market. In a state of economic isolation, the UK's fundamental weaknesses will become apparent quite quickly.

"Yellowhammer anagram - Orwell mayhem
"
Nice!
Though I see the popular media are still doing many people's thinking for them? They really do need to be disbanded immediately, especially the BBC with Channel 4 shortly behind.
So a picture of disaster is being painted but the real disaster would be what would have happened if we had stayed in the EU and the erosion of nation states' democracy and powers had continued.
2022 is the year set out for the effective melting down of all nations in the EU into little more than parishes, existing pretty much in name only for the official revealing of the EU federal superstate.
You probably won't hear this on the BBC though. I like someone's comment that regarding Jimmy Saville putting a stain on the BBC, "how is it possible to put a stain on an open sewer?"
Happily, the plans cooked up in the EU's tower of babel knockoff may now be delayed thanks to the UKs vote for democracy, commonly called 'Brexit'. There's surely no way the EU can go ahead until the vote has finally been overturned via holding another referendum, as happened in Ireland and other nations. This referendum will be held probably in 2021 when enough EU nationals have been bussed in and given voting rights (and guess how they'll vote!) to help tip the vote.
Meanwhile homeless people are rejected for perfectly good housing which is being given to the people being flooded into the UK, without much mention from said channels.
If Remain did then win by 50.1%, whether at the second, third or tenth time of asking, that would be it. That would be it.
After this it will be a US/EU union. Already we have in the news the Transatlantic Economic Community either being mooted or already here in early stages. This is exactly how the EU started of course when we were led into it under false pretences - "it will never become anything more than a simple trading bloc", but of course, like the Mafia, once you join you can never ever leave.
We will be told by prats like pea-eating John Major (if he's still alive then) in a nasally voice that it would be "disastrous for Britain to not be in the TAEC". The same as he said about the ERM back in 1992, which then went tits up and ended up almost destroying the economy on Black Wednesday. And now he's recently re-appeared out of his coffin like Dracula to say exactly the same about the EU, seemingly not realising we already had a people's vote, and the people voted to leave. What a tit. Doesn't he ever learn? Don't we ever learn?!
Then of course it will be the whole world and we will be told how we have to sign up for that or the economy will be destroyed, which is when the microchipping etc will begin in earnest, making the current Chinese way of governing look like small fry.
By then we will probably not be able to vote anymore anyway.
Orwell Mayhem is perfect.
Maybe the documents detailing the above can be released too. |

They abandoned their homeland (until they get old and need free social care )yet seem to think they should have been able to vote in the referendum . They will get their chance if Brexit is sabotaged though as EU will insist on that change. |

It's possible that leave voters have been bullied off the forum which is why it's generally a bit of a remain echo chamber apart from the occasional post from me coming from sideways.
It might be an accurate representation of how people feel, but it could also really not be. |

nope... if you are big enough and brave enough to spout a political position, then you should be big enough to defend that political position thru facts and research....
the problem is because so much of what leave spouted was debunked at the time, or has been debunked since, that the direction of the arguement they use now isn't the same one they used then...... |

You clearly didn't pass GCSE economics then if you believe that to be true. There is no evidence that historic low levels of unemployment have impacted wages very significantly. That's a true measure of the supply side of employment |

it’s all a matter of blind faith versus pragmatic truth - Brexit is a cult that appeals because the stagnant state of the nation brought about by the tories is affecting daily real life and the cult want to go west to a new world where we don’t have to have morals or legislation - a vision of an empire that is not real or rational. Of course the upshot of economic downturns will be the ever increasing wealth of the elite and the creation of an underclass who will not live long or prosper. I am sure Mr Cummings has worked it all out and de Pfeffel will relentlessly pursue his quest for power until he has broken the UK |

The UK wont have a problem medically speaking. If there is a shortage it will be designed to hit only elective medical situations.
But yeah to me the document is a middle of the road case document, that is pessimistic in nature, so renamed to be a reasonable worst case.
For example, I dont think a 2 day delay at a port is a reasonable worst case, i think that is a realistic assumption.
Reasonable worst case would be all but medical supplies stopped at port and a massive backlog building of up to a week...
A middle of the road assessment would be some riots with police stretched out.
A reasonable worst case would be bombings in London or other cities in England, and increased terror threat levels across the UK.
A flat out worst case scenario would be civil war. Lets not forget recently riots in France got so bad they were declared a civil war. So that is possible.
If you go through the whole document they all sound bad, but when you increase them by 1 bad level, they still sound plausible, even increasing by multiple steps till you hit something that is just really really bad, but still could maybe happen. |

The port authority in both Calais and Dover absolutely insist there will be no delays regardless of brexit outcomes.
Interestingly enough it turns out the people who wrote the yellowhammer document never actually spoke to anybody in either port to find out any details at all but just assumed.

"
Actually the port authority in Calais said that if both sides have done their homework and prepared then traffic could be "fluid" on their side.
They 100% said there would be delays to certain vehicles, that could once disembark unimpeded will now be directed to a customs check area. But they claim 700 staff can process them quick enough so that a delay does not build up disembarking.
However, ferry operators have said that there will be massive problems, and total gridlock. This is due to them believing that truck drivers wont know how to do all the documents at the start, there is no automated system, each driver will have to do the forms manually at the start. The ferry operator will contact france and ask about every truck getting on, if its papers are not filed they will deny it entry to the boat, and move it over to queue. They are expecting this queue to gridlock the port.
None of these delays will impact the "fluid" flow of traffic exiting callais, as they have moved the traffic jam to the UK side. |

So you listend to some guy who used to run dover, over I dunno, the actual calais port authority now? Thats a bit silly?
From Calais:
"To ensure the smooth flow of traffic and offer the best service possible, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that the customs declarations have been made to the French and British customs before HGVs arrive at the port of Calais or when leaving the port of Dover."
They outline what happens if you arrive without the documents, and you are not given 6 months to file it, you are taken aside and pass through a full customs check from head to toe.
Their system is running on 3 principles.
Anticipation, Identification, and Automation.
1) They must be able to anticipate your arrival.
2) They must be able to indentify all your stock, this includes all animals correctly tagged with documentation and vet papers for all animals.
3) Automation, where your cargo is normal cargo, like 20 tvs, they want to automate you through the process with no human interactions. However to do this, they must have anticipated your arrival.
In order to facilitate this process the Ferry companies have decided upon themselves not to take any trucks over who do not have the highly recommended step done of giving their documents in first.

You said they could file up to 6 months after entry, do you now recant that claim after admitting 1,2,3 are needed before entry to calais?
You said that one document would be needed, do you now recant that claim after admitting that both the UK customs and the French customs need documents given.
The expert you linked to has no authority over the EU or the port of calais?
Are you reasserting your claim that you can enter calais after a no deal brexit with no documents and file them 6 months later? |

"What happened to the technology that would guarantee frictionless and invisible borders?"
Well from the drivers point of view, when arriving in calais it will be "frictionless" to a degree, technology is going to track their licence plate and either send them straight out of the port into france, or into the new orange waiting area where the checks will be carried out. They will be directed to exact parking spots, and given real time updates on when, where and how their trailer is doing.
Calais says manual checks can not be avoided but they have employed 700 new people to help. |

CALAIS DON'T CHECK OUTGOING GOODS.

Yes they do under brexit. Calais will do 3 immigration checks, and one customs check.
Leaving the UK, the UK will do at least 1 custom check and at least 1 custom check.
The UK will also be expected to pair their customs, immigration declarations with a shared number with the French.
The Driver is then expected to declare the UK customs checks as correct and submit the correct forms to the French.
https://www.portboulognecalais.fr/media/2151-visuelbrexituk.png
Its step 5 on exit of calais, custom checks to England. Its step 3 when leaving Dover for france. |

Because you didnt even know France will do custom checks on trucks leaving France, and UK will do custom checks on trucks leaving England.
You basically seem to have heard one interview from someone not directly involved in the situaiton and are saying it proves you right, despite me linking directly to calais website with the correct information. |

Yes, once on the driver, once on the trailer for hidden people, and then finally a UKBF immigration check. The UK immigration check will be on the french side.
So 3 immigration checks.
You are just trolling I get it now, you haven't a clue.
For anyone serious the following image is on the calais official site, and outlines exactly how the system will work.

I cant imagine such a system being put on every road in and out of northern Ireland, if that is how "Technology" is to work. |

Technology?
I thought the driving permit for driving in the EU might be hi-tech.
Er, no.
I had to go to the Post Office and buy a piece of cardboard.
The clerk got a Pritt stick out and glued a picture of me to it.
Then a biro pen to scribble down some personal info.
A bargain at £5.50.
But not even low-tech, it was non-tech. |

Thing is IF there is no deal then every item on the truck will have an import tax to pay, in either direction. That will require every item to have an agreed value.
The guy from Dover would not know how to deal with Europe freight, even if he was there in the 1820's, even then we had trade deals in place. If we leave under no deal then every item moved in or out of the UK will have a tariff to pay, and will need a mechanism to pay it.
Bottom line is there is a lot of speculation and very few answers. |

It will all be done as it is now for VAT purposes, currently 2% of imports into southampton regardless of where in the world they arrive from are checked, imports into the UK wont be a problem here, it will be on the French side that there could be because they will want there to be problems |

3 years and the french still dont know what brexit is happening. If they can keep the delays down to a day it will be amazing.
Think about it, they are planning for 3 or 4 scenarios, hiring hundreds of people, building, all without an end game in sight. Then you want to blame them if they dont get it right?
To their credit they have put in a system, they have published the system, they have bought software, they have hired people, they have customs areas built, they have technology in place.
They have clearly said what drivers should do, all the changes... etc.. all while the UK still doesnt know what its doing.
Frankly, its embarrassing that the French of all people have their shit together more than the English. |

Explain why they would want there to be problems....perhaps it is because they are french?
Honestly....do you really think anyone in Europe wants this situation to get worse? I mean to say, three years of watching the petulant brats of our government fighting for some form of brexit that nobody really has any clue about and you think they will waste time on “punishing “ us for our ineptitude? They will do what is required to keep the trade flowing as best as possible but it will not be as seamless as it is now and if we end up on wto rules I imagine we will need carnets and the like all over again. I remember those days well, when you would be told to pull into a holding area and they would pick a random item from the carnet which you would have to find within your load and show the nice customs officer and they were perfectly entitled to do so. Apparently there is technology which will sort all this out but if it’s anything like most government tech solutions it will be ten years out of date and hugely over budget when it does finally arrive or just won’t work (eg NHS computer system)
There is just too much of this nonsense flying around muddying the waters when the fact is we are stuck like a pig in a poke with the only solution being offered by this minority government with an unelected PM being washing your hands of it all and walking away from Europe and most likely into the cozy arms of American asset strippers (anybody remember what happened to Cadbury’s?) It’s lies upon lies compounded by petty racism and dreams of an empire we no longer have..... |

French have employed and trained hundreds of staff, built infrastructure to cope with exporting to a non EU member.
British, have painted lines on 20 miles of motorway to stack up vehicles they have no staff to process.
If it goes tits up, we have to accept it is entirely the UK at fault. If it goes well we have to thank the EU for once again bailing out our useless government. |

Yes, once on the driver, once on the trailer for hidden people, and then finally a UKBF immigration check. The UK immigration check will be on the french side.
So 3 immigration checks.
You are just trolling I get it now, you haven't a clue.
For anyone serious the following image is on the calais official site, and outlines exactly how the system will work.
https://www.portboulognecalais.fr/media/2151-visuelbrexituk.png
I cant imagine such a system being put on every road in and out of northern Ireland, if that is how "Technology" is to work." .
I'm not trolling those immigrant checks already take place unless you've missed the last ten years or summit .
Check on the driver, yep, passport, ok off you go.
Months of delays there for sure |

I didn't say they would cause delay? I said people like you not knowing to have all your documents filed first would cause a delay. That you needed to file at least twice before going, and that france would be checking customs leaving calais.
Then you said "youre talking shite, 3 immigration checks", "genius france dont do customs on stuff heading to uk".
You honestly have no clue, and thats okay. The ferry companies expect most people to be like you and not know what to do. |

Listen up egg head I'll say this only once again so even you can understand.
There's only ONE extra document needed to transit though Dover and you get SIX MONTHS to enter it.
Everything else you do, you already do today.
That's the words of the expert who ran customs at Dover, he was honest, they'll be practically no delays or shortages on our side, cheddar in France however might be hard to get hold of because exporting will be harder than importing.
Do I trust him over dipshit jobless morons on the internet?. Yes, yes I do

"French have employed and trained hundreds of staff, built infrastructure to cope with exporting to a non EU member.
British, have painted lines on 20 miles of motorway to stack up vehicles they have no staff to process.
If it goes tits up, we have to accept it is entirely the UK at fault. If it goes well we have to thank the EU for once again bailing out our useless government.
And the French have already tested the system. They also did it on a budget, I believe 6 million.
I think Dover will need 2.1 billion or something insane. Last I read it was insane money anyway..
That's because you read nonsense on Twitter rather than listen to people who actually ran the customs in the port. "
or you could read the preparedness reports from the Dft... I suggest you do!

No point in talking to him, he heard a radio interview from someone who used to work in dover, so he is in the know better than the official sources. Calais is wrong, Dover is wrong, He is right, just turn up to dover on the day like nothing changed, and tell them you wont file the documents for 6 months. It wont cause chaos at all. The french will give you a baguette when you arrive, and with a wink and a smile say "Dont forget to tell us what you are bringing into the EU in six months". |

Your still talking about exporting while the entire thread is about importing, you know, medicine, water, food shortages??.
Don't forget to tell us in six months what your bringing into the EU
That's already done on your consignment details, will still be done after brexit, what you just thought you could drive through Dover Calais with a lorry without telling the authorities what's in it under EU rules???
Idiot shortages we definitely won't face |

The thread was about exporting, the build up of traffic at the motorway of up to 2 days, and importing.
The boat will be delayed when the freight is, The boat can not leave to go to france until everyone has gone through UK customs and immigration checks. Upon arrival at callais the boat will be stopped if any trucks have not cleared documents with both the the UK and France. Every truck will then be brought through customs checks again (yes they are doing custom check on both side).
The boat will then wait to fill up with traffic from france. All traffic from france will be sent through 3 immigration checks, and 1 customs check. Any delays on this end will hold the boat back from leaving.
The boat will arrive in dover, where they will expect them to have told dover what they will do. Dover is then supposed to do a customs check but who knows if they are ready to or not.
The reason why there will be up to a days delay or two, is because they expect there to be at least a minute or two delay on all trucks until they get used to the new system. They expect the boat to be held in dover and ferry for longer.
If just 100 trucks during the day are delayed by 5 mins each, thats an 8 hour delay. |

You're the guy that didn't know trucks leaving France will pass through customs on the French side, not me.
If you arrive in calais with no documents then you will be pushed into their new orange zone. There you will go through a customs check. The orange zone will deal with arriving trucks too.
If arriving trucks clog up the orange zone, then only empty trucks will be allowed leave france.
If leaving trucks clog up the orange zone, then the arriving boat will not be allowed to unload.
Calais could not be more clear about it. Calais have built the system to deal with people who do their homework. The system was not built in order to deal with people who turn up and argue with them that they can just file in 6 months in the UK. These people will clog up the system.
In a no deal, ALL vans with cargo leaving France will have to pass through customs, and ALL will need to file with the UK and France first. This is 100% not how it is done now. |

No that's right this isn't how is done now, you get six months to file with the UK, (not France as of yet).
All the rest is exactly how it's done today in the EU.
If you don't have documents your put in a customs check today.
Like I said, your always going to come back with remoaner bollocks and yet again you did.
I won't reply to you again it's pointless your just not listening |
