"Why are remainers shit scared of giving people a vote?."
By that logic, why are brexiteers so scared of a 2nd referendum?
Here’s Better idea, let’s take away the labels, and be grown up about it.
We’ll give you brexit, you give us a deal on brexit.
Sounds like a fair compromise, I think.

The fixed term parliament act is the agreed format
In any event, the massive urgency of October 31st, means that this should be priority in the short term, to prevent a disastrous exit. The government can't be trusted, as the extremist leave pushers are too hell bent on pushing the majority of people into hardship. Cancelling Article 50, then a general election would be the intelligent and sane approach. |

"And give the people a democratic general election.
Those that don't wish this are saboteurs and collaboraters."
Here's the thing, there will be a GE at a time of the choosing of the opposition parties, not when you or BoJO want one. The use of such inflammatory language makes you look like one of those knuckle dragging halfwits who were trying to counter protest in London yesterday. |

You don't live in a democracy. FPTP ensures that, more often than not, the majority end up getting a government that they voted against.
When there is a GE - at the time of Parliament's choosing - it is highly likely to result in another hung Parliament. So, you'll be no worse off. |

I would say the saboteurs and the collaborators are the ones who went against May's brexit deal. She was given the remit to get a deal done, the EU had all but signed off on it.
It was not remainers who hijacked her, it was leavers.
Lets not forget, when they hijacked the trade deal with the EU they also hijacked the trade deal with the USA as both are reliant on the backstop. Making leaving all but impossible, and parliment had to stop it, to slow it down, to get room to breath, and to force them to get a deal done. |

Thats how UK politics has been for years. The EU usually stepped in with viable plans and ideas for everything. Normally really good plans.
The beauty for the UK politicans was, if the plan didnt work it was the EU's fault, not theirs for failing to come up with a viable alternative, and vetoing the EU idea to use their own.
You have had nearly a generation of people read every day "This bad idea was the EU's", "This good one was our idea to use".
They literally blame the EU for everything. |

Of course the whole debacle would be funny if it wasn't so tragic for the the UK, first a generation of children growing up under the hardship of austerity, seeing their childhoods laid to waste and now a self-inflicted recession on the horizon - the Tories have a lot to answer for |

We should have a referendum that parliament must exept no matter what there views are then three months later a general election on the real issues that need to be addressed, you cannot have a general election on Brexit alone that would do stupid and short sited |

A binding referendum would be good. Then the leave side would either have to tell the truth or risk invalidating the result.
If the last one had been binding instead of advisory, the result would have been thrown out and we wouldn't be in this mess. |

Oh shish be quiet.
You know why they don’t want a GE? It’s because they don’t want one until a no deal Brexit is taken off the table.
And you know why they want that? Because it will be a disaster economically for the country, and make you, me and virtually everyone worse off.
But humour us... what exactly are they sabotaging, who exactly are they collaborating with, and to what end?

What difference does having a law in place that can be repealed by an incoming democratically elected party?.
If we vote in the liberals brexit is cancelled if we vote in the brexit party it's full steam ahead.
Either way democracy has been upheld and we can move on.
What your actually attempting is to subvert democracy (sabotage a vote) without the risk of losing.

The only thing that is trying to be subverted is leaving the EU without a deal, because it would be economically disastrous for the U.K.
You have to ask yourself: given the above, why on Earth would a government be so reckless as to doggedly pursue such a course?

The problem, rather obviously, is that leaving the EU without a deal would be so disastrous for the economy that, as the original referendum showed, it’s actually pretty irresponsible having a vote on something that serious when the people voting don’t seem to quite appreciate how bad it will be.
It’s also the case that in a GE people shouldn’t really be voting on a single issue anyway. |

I thought you were all in favour of Parliament taking back control...
Has it registered with you that we are still in the EU, therefore Parliament must have always had this control, just failed to use it. Have you started to wonder how much stuff our politicians actually wanted just did not want to be held to account for? So had the policies implemented at an EU level so they could claim it was not their fault? |

you are not going to like the answer i am going to give but here it goes...
see the tool the government are trying to use at the moment is the "Fixed term Parliament Act" (FTPA).... where they could set the date but then move it...
The government "Could" write a bill saying "the General election will be on X".... which would be an up/down vote with a simple majority needed......
but that would come at a price! that sort of bill would be an amendable motion, so all the opposition could act all sorts of "goodies" to the bill..... lets say setting a "you cannot leave the eu without a deal", or a "you must have a 2nd vote to the public on the deal where it is your deal vs remain"........
and once one part of the bill is progressed you then couldn't go in and take out the amendments if passed at a later stage.....
so why do you think if the government wanted an election that bad why they are not going thru that route... |

No I simply looked at the polling data that shows Mays deal and delaying are the lowest two options at around 5% where as leaving with no deal was 22%.
Then I looked at the polling data that suggests all the remoaners like soubry and Jess Philips and the 21 rebels will all lose their jobs and that parliament will be a brexit party Tory coalition... That's why I think we're not having an election but the second least favourable kick the can down the road option.

but that would come at a price! that sort of bill would be an amendable motion, so all the opposition could act all sorts of "goodies" to the bill..... lets say setting a "you cannot leave the eu without a deal", or a "you must have a 2nd vote to the public on the deal where it is your deal vs remain"........
and once one part of the bill is progressed you then couldn't go in and take out the amendments if passed at a later stage.....
so why do you think if the government wanted an election that bad why they are not going thru that route... .

Can't they just pass a law forcing him to?
nope.... the date of the GE is set at the PM's perogative... and they don't trust him to say he will have an election on october 15th to then "slide" it back to beyond october 31st
now if a the pm were trusted then maybe they would have given him the benefit of the doubt, but the "prorouge" stunt left no one to doubt....
.
So let me get this straight, they can pass a law forcing him to deliver a letter that's worded by them and force him to personally ask for an extension but... They can't pass a law dictating when a GE takes place? .
My god, were more fucked than I originally thought
you are not going to like the answer i am going to give but here it goes...

"It's funny how sovereignty of parliament gets mentioned so little by Brexit extremists these days . There's a lot of selective obsession amongst them" .
Nah we've just come to some long lost reality check that politicians of all flavours everywhere (including the EU) are self obsessed, bent, fiddling corporate sell out lackeys in it for themselves, were children who are there to be talked down to because were uneducated fascists who don't know what we want, spoonfed narratives of how beholden we are to the politicians who sell us out while they paedophilicaly feed on our children and send the others off on foreign jaunts to kill the bad man all while acquiring hundreds of millions on books and after dinner speeches to bankers they bailed out with our not even born offsprings future tax revenue and lecturing us on morality!!.
Yeah I just can't put my finger on why we don't trust politicians anymore.
Still, least it all worked out in the end hey |

We had opinions from both sides, it was on the telly and everything (maybe you were on holiday?), anyhow we listened they talked we voted, one opinion lost but hasn't stopped moaning about it for like 3 years and these remoaners who are actually in parliament have now basically done a coup , overthrown the democratically elected government chosen by the people to see through this democratically voted for shit show because well boohoo everything, just everything in the whole country will set on fire come November 1st and we'll all turn into nazi zombies.
Either that or there the kids at the party who burst into tears because they didn't win. |

We've had a people's vote already 3 years back.
Let's just toss a coin and be done with it.
