Fmr US Treasury Sec: UK has no leverage, is desperate, has nothing else
Jump to: Newest in thread
Former US Treasury Secretary has said that the US will take full advantage of post Brexit Britain.
Brexit has left Britain with no options but to agree a deal with the US and "when you have a desperate partner, thats when you strike the hardest bargain".
He also pointed out that Britain has much less to offer than the EU as a whole which means that the US has even less of a reason to make concessions.
At the same time Congress has also said they will refuse to ratify any deal that threatens the GFA.
But theyre probably just Remainers instead of impartial observers, right? |

Ha. Don't worry our bulldog determination, blitz spirit and good old fashioned optimism will fix it. And if it doesn't at least someone other than the pesky EU will be shafting us so the people will be happy. |

I imagine providing political cover for American militarism will be part of the discussion, not least with regards to Iran.
I see today Johnson has been considering deploying UK military to Yemen.
I suspect the public appetite for going back into war zones in the Middle East will be less even than letting the Americans get their hands on the NHS |

Very true but don't upset the believers with common sense because the FTA with American is the last and final "Brexit Bonanza" yet to be absolutely fully debunked |
