How can you argue to leave the UK but argue to maintain the United Kingdom or vice versa.
It seems incoherent to me.
Surely it must be both or neither?
The Conservative party seems to have decided on neither.
Is that the same for all Brexit supporters? |

If the rest of the UK continues to try and drag us back into the EU, and also continues to elect leftist members to our parliament, then I am happy to see them get their independence. I’d even help build the walls required to stop them wandering in and out of England. That is how people are seeing their little threats to break up the UK. If that is their attitude then fuck them. If they want to boost their tiny populations, then perhaps English remoaners can move their and fuck off with then.
There you go, two birds with one stone. |

Can we build a wall around London for the same reason?
I can see how the two views can be reconciled. The UK Union has joint monetary, fiscal etc which the EU doesn't have. Its a softer union which can cause bumps. Eg joint currency but independant banks. Thats possibly why the US, while a range of economies, doesn't quite have the same challenges. |

My mistake.
Leave the EU but maintain the UK. |

Leave the EU but maintain the UK." But why does it seem incoherent we had a united kingdom before we joined the eu. |

I followed the debates before brexit and most said that if scotland or northern ireland voted to leave the UK they would respect it. I don't think anyone takes the idea of wales leaving seriously. |

I'm sure your aware that through the life of the UK over hundreds of years there's been a large minority of all four countries that would be happy to leave the UK, it's not exactly breaking news. |

Really?
The UK wants "sovereignty" as a nation state.
Why shouldn't Scotland and Ireland and Wales have it?
We can get just as great if not better trade with the rest of the world as a smaller country alone so why not the individual nations?
We are "oppressed" by laws from somewhere else. So are the Scots, Irish and Welsh.
We don't need trade with our nearby, wealthy neighbours. The USA and China will be eager to do deals with us and the EU needs us more than we need them. Why should Wales, Scotland and Ireland not do the same? After all, England sells more to them than they sell to us.
What's the difference between 400 years and 40 years?
Get it yet? |
