"Vladimir Putin made a few very interesting comments about liberalism in Europe and Western views on gay rights, immigration and multi culturism which he claimed were an attack on traditional family values. In an interview with the Financial Times he said that the liberal idea was on its way out as the public turned its back on these issues . Liberals cannot simply dictate anything to anyone just like they have been attempting to do over recent decades. At least Putin speaks for the silent majority of people in the UK who still appreciate the important of family values . It is time that the silent majority of UK residents emphasized to the various minority groups they they are just that ( A minority ). Just because someone shouts loudly does not mean we should have to accept their ideas. I have always found that those who claim to be liberal are those who are the most intolerant of anyone whose ideas disagree with their options. Hopefully we are now at a turning point and that liberalism will now be pushed aside. " Your scratching at the bottom of the barrel pat, given putins record on many things he is hardly the person to be eulogising over such things about.. Unless of course your fine with state sponsored murder, media and political oppression, journalists being murdered who critics his regime, massive homophobia etc.. At a time when hate crime is on the rise to use the language you do about 'minorities' is telling of your thoughts.. Respecting others differences is not a Liberal thing, its about decency and tolerance which should be across the board..

The various issues which you raise are not related to the original post and would be the subject of another thread should you wish to raise one. The issue at stake is that the silent majority are fed up with discrimination in favour of various minority groups. It is entirely wrong that those who shout loudest expect us to accept their beliefs as the norm. No one has suggested that anyone should be discriminated against or not treated equally, it has simply been suggested that liberalism has had its day and the voices of the silent majority are more important than those of vocal groups .

"Yeah sure, white people have had enough, it's time to go back to the good old days of killing the gays, lynching the blacks and openly beating your woman in public to put her in her place. " Thats not the good old days, as that's actually happening now in predominantly Arab modern Muslim countries. Gays and LBGT people being thrown to their deaths off rooftops, women being stoned to death for adultery, its called sharia law. And to top it off so called liberals want to welcome these kinds of people into the west with open arms through uncontrolled immigration and open borders. People have woken up to it and its being rejected whether you like it or not.

Surly the silent majority is, by it's very nature, silent. In the past people used to claim legitimacy by citing the will of a silent God, now they claim legitimacy by citing the will of a silent majority. In both cases what they are actually doing is just legitimising their own personal beliefs and are no more in tune with either the will of a silent God or the will of a silent majority. If you really want to be part of the silent majority maybe you should start by actually being what the name suggests, silent, rather than claiming some unknowable mandate from those who are actually silent for your own personal point of view.

Hi..i will leave you to answer those questions as they are entirely irrelevant to the original post which was concerning an interview with the Financial Times. At least concerning liberalism he is speaking for the silent majority in this country . How do you know what the silent majority think or support? Surly the silent majority is, by it's very nature, silent. In the past people used to claim legitimacy by citing the will of a silent God, now they claim legitimacy by citing the will of a silent majority. In both cases what they are actually doing is just legitimising their own personal beliefs and are no more in tune with either the will of a silent God or the will of a silent majority. If you really want to be part of the silent majority maybe you should start by actually being what the name suggests, silent, rather than claiming some unknowable mandate from those who are actually silent for your own personal point of view. " . The opinions of the silent majority can be gauged by what people can say in private buy because of intimidation are afraid to say in public . One only has to look at a number of posters on here snearing at other members to see why sometimes in real life you have to keep your opinions silent.

On the plus dude we all now your a homophobic racist putin fan boy... Have a nice fucking day I'm off fishing the needles for bass... It is a pity you did not bother reading the post correctly ( or if you were that interested reseached the original article in more detail ) The point was that everyone should be treated equally but that people were fed up.with some minority groups being given more rights than others. You have simply made a post which is entirely irrelevant to the post concerned . " Which minority groups, how have they and how has that affected your and others lives..?

Damn whiny snowflake liberals taking the good stuff away from the white man, how dare they, they're probably socialist commies, listening to their comrades, good thing Russia is here to be brave enough to speak up. If they weren't, then the damn labour with comrade Corbyn would be teaching our kids how nice the EU is whilst forcing our kids to be trans Muslims, it's a disgrace. /s, I think that covers all the usual points from some people on here." Yeh, the good old days Just a couple of points; I don't recall too many gays being killed in Britain, although some countries, mainly muslim, do kill gays. Lynching blacks was a Southern America thing. I haven't looked for evidence in the UK but I doubt it happened. You only have an issue with beating a woman in public Again, many countries, mainly non white, do beat women and it is unpunishable. But none of the above has anything to do with the op, which I can't see getting much, if any support. I think liberals are, in the main part, unintentionally damaging and divisive but I also think extreme left and right views are dangerous things and nothing good ever came from any of them. Your scratching at the bottom of the barrel pat, given putins record on many things he is hardly the person to be eulogising over such things about.. Hi. " I'm sorry, but I don't see giving a voice to minorities as discriminating against the majority - which in this country is Caucasian, western Europeans, who generally live in monogamous, family units, who generally are heterosexual. Why have historically some groups been given priority in political action? (Though the amount of resources sunk in are small in proportion to wholesale resource budgets.) Because they were oppressed, given a lack of opertunities. Or in some causes persecuted. At the end of the day some individuals in some minority groups still scream that they are oppressed. I don't see this in this country; I do see poor policies or poor implementation of policies. My final point, and it's a direct question Pat - If you're agreeing with Putin's point, and you seem to agree going by your tangent, what's the alternative?

"It must have occurred to you by now that most people who have multiple profiles use one to simply troll. It doesn’t matter if that profile gets banned or deleted they just open a new one for trolling purposes. Look at the two main protagonists who post on here. Both use a secondary profile to post inflammatory material and post facile contrary arguments that don’t even try to address the debate. It is a pointless exercise trying to debate with a troll when debating and discussing is not the reason they post their shit. They do it solely to cause a reaction. This particular thread is as nonsensical as it gets when swinging itself is a liberal, minority section of the wider community. It would be interesting to know how you can consider swingers to be liberal as most people tend to keep their private life private. If one analyses some of the posts made on here , those who consider themselves to be liberal are probably the most narrow minded and intolerant of all the posters. "Looking at what Putin said I see it as a bit of a desparate false claim, bit like the posters on here and social media gob shites like Hopkins and that vile guy in the States who rail on about the pc brigade and their right to free speech which in reality is hate speech without recourse.. The divisions that people like Putin want in this country and the Eu are part of a longer game.. Yes there has been increases in racially and homophobic motivated attacks but the cancer of this is not spreading and will wane.. Ditto the push for nationalism and the issues that has brought, the majority see it for what it is and don't want it.. If you were to read what Putin actually said , he clearly stated that everyone should be treated equally. I guess the truth about what Putin actually stated would not suit your agenda." A person has got to be a troll, thick as pig muck or doesn't know what their talking about to take the words of Putin as face value.. Care to answer how these minorities your so worried about have affected your life..?

The real issue should be waking up to the antics that the trans national corporations who pay little tax here and wield enormous power over government policies.. As with the rich businessmen who fund division to further enhance their profile.. The UK government has been piss poor at holding them to account and its been the EU that have tried to legislate to protect consumers, the likes of your average man and woman..

Yeah the first paragraph is part of the problem though. Okay you don't want your national population to collapse. Fair enough. However, as you pointed out, he ONLY allows heterosexual relationships. If it was the case that he allowed all relationships but wanted to subsidise those who have more kids with tax breaks or something, I'd be fine. It's the fact that he runs his country in such an authoritarian manner, with such a black and white mind set which causes problems. At the end of the day, criminalising homosexually or penilising non-hetro individuals has knock on effects: . They won't just magically settle down and have kids, they'll either segregate themselves, or try to leave. I've seen the migration of persecuted Russians in the Scandinavian countries first hand . You'll likely have STD outbreaks, as despite condons ect, accidents happen, and authorities aren't daft, they know that certain STI s come from men or women disproportionately. . Eventually, if people can't leave, you'll likely get civil unrest. Putin would likely deal with this harshly. And that just gets you more sanctions.

"However, as you pointed out, he ONLY allows heterosexual relationships." I didn't say that, I said he only wants traditional relationships shown on media, or where children might be present. What you do in your own time behind closed doors is your own business. You can change your gender to female if you want, you can adopt as a gay person. Can swing or be gay etc, Only 10 regions out of 85 implemented strict laws on the subject. So some areas are worse than others on the issue.

However you still have highlighted an issue. The fact that some devolved regions get to be less understanding is concerning. Not to mention that when I lived in Norway, and when I visit there, I always encounter/encountered Russians of varying 'minority groups' who explained how they were in or applying for asylum. Most explained how there seemed to be politically endorsed gangs who hounded certain individuals who were or were suspected of being gay, bi, ect. It's on par with how the Russian state made moves to decriminalise domestic abuse, which seems to be rampant.

"To suggest gay people have not been slaughtered in this country just underlines the ignorance at work in this thread. The anniversary passed quite recently of the Soho pub bombing. Only last year, a young man from Barrow in Furness was convicted under the terrorism act of plotting to slaughter people taking part in a Pride event. Illegal acts that were punished. The post I replied to implied that there was a time when it was acceptable to kill gay people, I pointed out the error of their ways. In this country, it was more than just acceptable to kill gay people. Execution was the statutory penalty until 1861. " 1861? Are you taking the piss? How far back shall we go then? How about we abolish marriage as there was no such thing in 250,000 BC. I suppose you would also lower the age for sex and allow anyone under 16 to marry with adult consent, as the law only changed in 1929. You really do come out with some crap.

You complain about the so called "snowflake generation" yet you're offended by everything yourself Ohh and you've been celebrating bonfire night on the wrong date all your life with the looks of it Nah I got it mixed up with my youngest son’s birthday. That is all, the night he was born I was at home with the other kids, watching other people’s fireworks out of the window. Stupid PC brigade celebrating bonfire night on the wrong night and making you look stupid! Lol I typed in the wrong date, so fuckin what? Everything I say is wrong because I typed in a wrong date. Crack on with it, if that is all you have got. Seriously..." Didn't mean to offend... Was just teasing given its kinda ironi. you have a v cool memory off the back of something you'd prefer not to have happened. I misjudged. That's down to me.

" As i understand it, neoliberalism meant the deregulation of companies etc, making them less accountable for standards etc, amongst other things so yes it would be good to see less of that

"Equality cannot be achieved by giving those who feel aggrieved more rights than ordinary people. That is how it looks, not just to me but to millions of people living in so called democracies. Make it so that everyone is exactly equal and what you lot call populism will become less popular. Just don’t make any single group of people more ‘equal’ than everyone else. Over the last 25 years or so, minority groups have been pushing for more and more. They are already equal but want, and more often than not are given even more. Enough is enough!" So what are these extra rights that a gay man or woman has, actually to whom are you referring to? But same question pls? And how can it be and whom is more equal, the law is not biased its just the law so it can be used and given what your claiming there should be actual cases etc..

"I think you might be on to something, many people are disillusioned with current mainstream pushed narratives on society, you only have to look at the polling on youngsters and gay acceptance, for the first time in 40 years it's falling!. " Ok, in the absence of any evidence, I can only deduce it is your opinion that same-sex relationships are unpopular, not the public's. The latest evidence I have seen is from a YouGov survey published last week. * Only 36 % of people aged 18-24 identify as "completely heterosexual" * 48% identify as homosexual or open to same-sex relations Here is the link:| https://www.fabswingers.com/forum/lounge/897656 Feel free to educate yourself.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not in favour of people being targeted for any of those reasons. But why do people with other motives get more leniency? Also if a non white murders a white person, (take the Kris Donald case as an example), why is that not reported more widely as a racist murder? I don’t want to be lazy and copy paste stories or even links. I just want to know why some people are more protected than others, and why punishment for crimes are given more serious punishments than others? It is no wonder that more and more British people are turning to nationalist and populist parties and organisations. Before anyone calls my claims bullshit, I used to know a man who had his own organisation. He had influence over people who hated the anarchists and the hard left. Prospectors had to carry out an op if they were to become members. He got 5 years for entitlement followed by 4 years mapa 3 probation. All because of something he once posted on the internet. He has gone through all that now and is living his life, so I will not name him. But that is 100% true. Had he made the same post about others he would have got 3 years prison and 1 years probation. As for Kris Donald, feel free to google him, because I’m betting that most of you have never heard of him. You will be experts on the Steven Lawrence case though...

"Not all murders where the victim is black and the perpetrator is not are race hate crimes and vice versa.. Not familiar with the case your talking about tbh, Stephen Lawrence was targeted because he was black and that rightly will be looked at as race hate.. The same happens where a gay man will kill a straight man etc but if one kills the other because they are straight or gay then there is a difference and the law will take that into account.. You still haven't said why you think you are less equal than others.. " Kris Donald was a 15 year old boy walking home in Glasgow, who was picked up by a bunch of Asian men, just because he was white, then viciously tortured to death then dumped, still burning outside Parkhead football ground. He was treated as less than human and his death and the hours running up to it were truly horrific. It was never reported as a racially motivated crime, but it most definitely was.

You have your reasonable head on tonight. I can get on with this version of you I agree with you that a crime against a person is just that. However, I think that there is a case for additional penalties for crimes against people simply because of who they inherently are, be that homosexual, or coloured or of a particular religion. If this is the sole reason for the attack then it is more of a problem because it wouldn't have happened for any other reason. It makes this a form or terrorism really because it is completely unprovoked and out of your control. I only read the Wiki page about Kris Donald. On that basis the murder seemed to be racially motivated. There is no reason that it shouldn't have been treated as such. However, it may just have been easier to get a conviction as a "normal" murder. I couldn't really follow what you were saying about the guy whom you knew, so won't comment on that. I'm afraid that you are right about populism being driven by a perception of unfair treatment. However, I think that this is driven more by the press narrative than reality. Did you see the statistics on Asian Vs White abuse that I posted. The perception is often not the reality.

Swinging is NOT compatible with “family values” . Simple really. It may be in your opinion but not for many others . Many swingers value family values and keep their swinging life private. In some cases they value family values more than most. Anyone with common sense keeps their private life private . So swinging is compatible with normal family values as long as it is kept secret? Does your mind do mental gymnastics trying to justify your want and need to fuck married women? Why not just accept that In order to sign up to Putin’s way of thinking, you will need to get out of the Swinging lifestyle and adopt a more puritanical lifestyle. In other words, get married, have children and be a good role model for them instead of sleazing around and trying to fuck for fun " I would have thought that the answer is very straight forward . Anyone with common sense keeps their swinging activities secret. Nothing wrong in both adhering to and promoting family values and letting yourself go one night a week.

The divisions that people like Putin want in this country and the Eu are part of a longer game.. "Yeah, sorry misread your first bit. It's on par with how the Russian state made moves to decriminalise domestic abuse, which seems to be rampant." Yes gangs are a problem in Russia and some areas like Chechnya are a very real concern. However that also isnt the point, the point is liberalisim and multiculturalisim wont fix their gang problem or chechnya problem. In parts of America its a growing problem that straight kids have to act gay to fit in with their peers, and its a growing problem that like gay people in the past they have to act gay to fit in. In russia they may have the opposite problem. The most liberal countries in the world have gang problems as cultures segregate themselves and dont mix. Just as bad gang problems as Russia. Sen, London. Liberalism and multiculturalism are not supposed to just make gay peoples lives better, they are supposed to deliver a better world for everyone. Youre supposed to transition from a monoculture country to an open one with no crime or problems. So from that point of view, the experiments were run, and they have not done what they promised, and the concepts are dead in the water as far as he is concerned.

Is everything ok as long as it is quiet and behind closed doors or is it just ok for men to be able to fuck married women and any other kink or perversion is “too liberal.” Stop being a hypocrite and just accept that liberal attitudes and tolerance go hand in hand and the U.K. and Europe is a far better place than Russia BECAUSE of our liberal and tolerant outlooks.

"Another very interesting point about Russia in the press today. For all his grave faults , Putin's Moscow glitters with the restored domes of dozens of churches , many full of worshippers . I guess the truth about what Putin actually stated would not suit your agenda. A person has got to be a troll, thick as pig muck or doesn't know what their talking about to take the words of Putin as face value.. Care to answer how these minorities your so worried about have affected your life..? The article is self explanatory and had nothing to do with Russia. It illustated perfectly that Liberalism has had its day. In am guessing that you have not read the article and as such would not be in a position to make any meaningful comments . And based upon your support for Putin's view and what you have said on this thread it is a logical question to ask you.. Unless as with several other claims you've made its totally false and baseless? If you are that concerned may be asked the interviewer whose name is Lionel Barber and is a journalist for the FT. " You can find out exactly what he thought of Putin here: https://www.lbc.co.uk/radio/presenters/james-obrien/ft-editor-behind-the-scenes-look-vladimir-putin/ Barber calls the Russian leader a calm and organized person who looks through the interlocutor. At the same time, the head of state is “a cagey person who can catfish an opponent and knows how to put a scare into you,”

" Does the name Shamima Begum ring any Bells? It was so called liberals who were wanting to welcome her back here to the UK with open arms, knowing full well she had joined iSIS. " slight distortion of reality here. what was in fact said, was that it is unlawful under both british and international law to strip a person of their citizenship, regardless of what crimes they may have comitted. Britain is not an authoritarian government that picks and chooses when and where she can ignore the rule of law simply because it is convenient for her to do so. and therin lies the difference - and superiority - bewteen liberal democracy and authoritarianism. There's a reason why so many wealthy Russian and Chinese people buy assets such as property in the UK. In their home countries their government can sieze both themselves and their assets on a whim - not so here in the uk where the rule of law, and not the whims of a dictaor, is sovereign

"So, Putin's basically a Tory. Right? A right-wing nationalist who's gone to war against muslims. A homophobe who hankers back to a better time when his country had an empire. Who maintains nuclear weapons just to keep a seat on the UN Security Council; even though the world really doesn't need to take his country seriously. He's pretty much what any Tory leader would be if - like him - they weren't held accountable by the rule of law and a free press. The Germans had a guy just like him in the 1930's and 40's. Very similar views on nationhood, on hatred for minorities. But hey, if you think he's got a point, go ahead and kiss his arse. Just like his money-laundering tory friends in the City do."

"The reason why liberalism may seem to be in decline at the moment is because, while most liberals agree on the fundamentals of democracy, tolerance and the rule of law, they are completely at odds and divided with each other on economic policy. . " I agree with you. We are living with the consequences of the financial crash, the credit crunch, and what that exposed. Greedy financiers essentially transferred their huge debt onto sovereign states, while the central banks poured cash into the system to maintain the value of assets. The response was prioritised towards protecting the wealth of the capitalists, who then demanded austerity for everyone else to pay for it. That is a deep well of resentment, and it is what the populists tap into.

This was also the case the last time authoritarianism started to raise it's ugly head in the 20s and 30s. However, when push came to shove, you got the likes of Churchill (Conservative liberal), Beveridge (Liberal liberal) and Attlee (Socialist liberal) all pulling together to defend our rights and freedoms that can only ever be properly defended by representative Liberal Democratic government. I'm no socialist. I strongly believe in the capitalist system and ever freer and open markets as being the best way to increase prosperity for all. I know a lot of other people won't agree with that but I would rather stand shoulder to shoulder with them than with authoritarian populists, even when they claim to be free marketeers, who so far have delivered nothing anywhere except division and the trampling of individual rights. In the end, even with set backs, democracy always wins through against tyranny and in democracies social liberalism always triumphs over intolerance. " I agree except for the fact that democracy always wins through. In the long term perhaps, but you may have to endure decades of oppression in the interim. Functioning, established emocracy is not actually overthrown. It's usually given away. Venezuela Turkey Russia

"Yeah, sorry misread your first bit. Yes gangs are a problem in Russia and some areas like Chechnya are a very real concern. So from that point of view, the experiments were run, and they have not done what they promised, and the concepts are dead in the water as far as he is concerned." In what part of America do kids have to act gay to fit in with their peers? I guarantee you have no actual evidence for this.

You have simply typed out the type of comments which you think some posters on here would like to see. And based upon your support for Putin's view and what you have said on this thread it is a logical question to ask you.. Unless as with several other claims you've made its totally false and baseless? If you are that concerned may be asked the interviewer whose name is Lionel Barber and is a journalist for the FT. I'm asking you based on your points on here which as you usually do you are unable or unwilling to support your claims, your opinions and your comments.. You do so constantly on other topics, why? Probably because this is a forum in which to read people's opinions. People are hardly going t to change their opinions because of what they read on here . In any event when people ask questions on here , it is not gernslly to obtain an answer because they already know it . It is simply to pick holes in someone's argument hidden behind the anonymity of a computer screen. There may be scenarios in real life where it is necessary to ask questions where there is an impact on here. These forums are simply for casual conversation and to pass idle time .. It is rather bizarre the way some posters on here ( not referring to you specifically ) ask questions to which they already know the answer and then spend endless time picking the answer to pieces. Some posters probably have too much idle time which should be out to better use ( again for referring to you specifically) Detailed analysis is for the real world, not for Cyberland. What you say will be your opinion if you say I prefer chickens eggs to ducks and others will differ but when you Pat come out with actual statements such as more people now want to leave on WTO terms or the silent majority think x, y or z then such statements will and can be challenged.. You make such statements and when challenged refuse to continue the debate, one can only assume your just making stuff up or your arguments are so weak you have nothing of any substance to support your statements.. Which is it? It is neither of these . These forums exist in order to allow people to express their opinions. From a personal perspective I would only need someones opinion , not the facts and figures behind it. If I need to research a topic I would do my own , not spend my time asking others to answer the question on my behalf. Luckily I support the winning parties in quite a few scenarios. What matters is the vote on the day , not the facts and figures behind a win . I judge success on the end result. Well then your opinion on this thread is wrong.. Mate who the fuck cares who you say you voted for, you could be lying through your keyboard in some insecurity driven need to associate with something you see as successful.. However most people would regard supporting the winning parties as being an indication that their views are in line with the general consensus of the population . If you want answers to all the questions that you ask maybe take out a subscription to a few newspapers. It also has the advantage of getting you out of the house early in the morning, getting some exercise, putting something back into the local economy and being a friend of the news agents concerned . I buy newspapers in four different locations, the news agents are a variety of nationalities and I am on first name terms with some of them. I have even been able to give one detailed advice on one issue and another has given me considerable help on another issue. My guess is that it's content would make some posters on here livid with rage . What matters is how you use your knowledge is real life , how you use it on here is completely irrelevant . " Are you trolling yourself now? "I was unaware that any post made on here should have to say anything of value" Then you mention an article but give zero information about it. You are an amazing self-parody

None have refused to sell me the newspapers because they consider the content in them to be untrue . Unlike this forum the content of what can be published in a newspaper is strictly governed. If you want your questions answered I am not going to waste my time doing it here . If you go to the newsagents and but a copy of today's Sunday Times most of your questions are answered on page 25.. You might also like to buy the Sunday Telegraph and note the article on page 8 middle column at the bottom. Reading and absorbing the content of newspapers is a lot more beneficial that reading the ramblings of various keyboard warriors on here . I'm constantly staggered by your ability to write so much but at the same time say little either of value or otherwise. I was unaware that any post made on here should have to say anything of value. If people browsing the forums wanted posts of value they would hardly be using posts on here as their source data. You are an amazing self-parody " I think I mentioned the relevant page numbers . That allows anyone with a real interest to go out and buy the newspaper concerned

It’s quite hypocritical to say that liberalism should be pushed aside. This site would not be here if liberalism was removed. Our society is freer, our rights are protected and we are advanced in our thinking. Putin is an ex KGB man, who has the same soviet style mentality on control of populations. He is just as repressive, he has taken advantage. I’d say love democracy, love liberalism. It is difficult to see why this site would not be here if liberalism were to be removed. You have simply made an assumption. Quite a few people whose nationality is Russian are members of another web site . " And thats my right, just like you have the right to say what you want. Democracy, free speech, all accepted norms in a liberal society. Love democracy, love liberalism.

"Sunday shite over - for a week. Dome strong, well expressed perspectives, as well as the opposite, for good measure. The forum does allow you to get some insight into the basic mechanics of some thinking processes, often people who are very different from those we may encounter outside. Have a great week everyone "
