It has come to light that EU Presidents Jean Claude Juncker and Donald Tusk will get Golden handshake pay off bonuses totalling nearly half a million Pounds funded by European tax payers. Jean Claude Juncker will get £144,000 and Donald Tusk will get £288,000 when they both leave office in November which amounts to £432,000 in total between the 2 of them. The pair both take home annual wages of £350,000 per year including other allowances, or around £24,000 per month, earning more than the President of the United States of America.
Tory MP Ian Duncan Smith said, "Such payments and expensive privileges smack of an arrogant level of unnaceptable greed".
Jacob Rees-Mogg added, "It seems odd that people in fixed term jobs have golden goodbyes" getting eye watering amounts as a bonus on top of their already bloated tax payer funded salaries.
All part of the EU Gravy train, and jobs for the boys in Brussels, while European taxpayers, including taxpayers in the UK, contribute towards this circus.

Rees-Moggs business that you're referring to is a private business, funded willingly by private clients using their own money, and has nothing to do with taxypayers money!
What we're talking about in the OP in relation to Juncker and Tusk is golden handshake payments using taxpayers money and is 100% funded by the taxpayer!

Nige has donated quite a lot of his salary back to the EU - that's what happens when you misuse money and get caught.
Farage will receive severance pay of over £90k when he leaves the EU Parliament and will receive a pension of £66k from age of 63 for the rest of his life......Not bad considering he barely showed up in Brussels for years and was more interested in making ££ from his media roles. |

yes..... basically any MP who has been one for "3 full government terms or 10 years (whichever comes first)" are entitled to the sort or payment that they are getting....
not as much but the general principle behind the payment.... which is to help to adapt people back into "civilian life"........

Except that Cameron's payments are not false equivalence. They are exact equivalence.
Rich and powerful individuals are often paid a lot of money both during and after they are in positions of responsibility.
Are you essentially taking a fully Communist view on this? That everyone should be paid the same regardless of their job?
It's a worthy thought if somewhat impracticable in reality.
I, personally, think the payments are excessive.
The President of the USA is on an even better deal after leaving office:

It is my opinion that we gain a substantial benefit from that. You sir to think otherwise, but the point still stands as their retirement benefits are less than that of our Prime Ministers.

Mr Farage, 54, has declared income worth €590,000 to €790,000 from broadcast contracts since July 2014 under European parliament rules. His total earnings including salary are equivalent to as much as £787,000.

Am I the only one in here that wants to day that I do not want this much of my money spent on these people, whether president, high elephant or simply a dissenting member.
If they represent the people, they should get what a reasonably paid ordinary person would expect to earn.

Prior to the 2015 General Election a friend of mine went to his local hustings where the prospective candidates put forward their case to the electorate .The TUSC candidate said that if elected he would accept all of his MPs wage but only keep what was the average wage in the constituency giving the remainder each month to local charities ,,,,,That particular candidate did not win .The candidate who won was the sitting MP who told his constituents that there was no money for services , that we had to tighten our belts and that we were all in it together .The same MP who had received an £8,000 pay-rise , paid for by British Tax-payers |

"It has come to light that EU Presidents Jean Claude Juncker and Donald Tusk will get Golden handshake pay off bonuses totalling nearly half a million Pounds funded by European tax payers. Jean Claude Juncker will get £144,000 and Donald Tusk will get £288,000 when they both leave office in November which amounts to £432,000 in total between the 2 of them. The pair both take home annual wages of £350,000 per year including other allowances, or around £24,000 per month, earning more than the President of the United States of America.
Tory MP Ian Duncan Smith said, "Such payments and expensive privileges smack of an arrogant level of unnaceptable greed".
Jacob Rees-Mogg added, "It seems odd that people in fixed term jobs have golden goodbyes" getting eye watering amounts as a bonus on top of their already bloated tax payer funded salaries.
All part of the EU Gravy train, and jobs for the boys in Brussels, while European taxpayers, including taxpayers in the UK, contribute towards this circus.
Is it small reward for a fantastic performance that enhanced the lives of Europeans? Can someone please list their main achievements?

Oh, wait. It just occurred to me that I'd need to spell that out.
They maintained a common negotiating position between 27 countries over three years to the extent that even populist anti-EU parties feel unable to declare any openly anti-EU sentiment because approval ratings amongst the voting population are at historic highs.
I actively dislike Junker yet think he's better at his job than any of our lot. |

If my maths is correct, farage will also get a 144k handout when he leaves... As will other Meps who have been there for 20 years.
Even short termers get 50kish.
Im sure they will all donating that to charity too... |
