Withdrawing from the nuclear treaty
Slapping on sanctions and threatening other countries thst trade with them
Then sending a carrier fleet and bombers
Im not saying Iran is squeaky clean, but when the West support a countries like Saudi Arabia it smacks of hypocrisy a little |

They are probably acing at the behest of their masters in Israel. The problem now is that Iran might well have weapons of mass destruction, but nobody will believe it when the US go looking for help with another invasion... |

Trump will not feel like he has had a proper presidency unless he has had at least one war before he goes.
Hopefully not a word war!!!!
He had set back diplomacy and public relations probably about 30 years since he's been in power, undone so much good and stuff promised.

Japan has been pretty much sidelined in the North Korea/USA dialogue.
Japan and Korea have a very unpleasant recent history.
Prime Minister Abe thought he'd get in on the front foot with Iran.
He was in Tehran meeting the country's leadership to discuss the nuclear treaty on the day that a Japanese tanker was attacked.
The Japanese owners of the tanker say the crew reported "objects flying through the air" and hitting the ship.
This is at odds with the US version of events.
Meanwhile, Pompeo was in India trying to persuade India to stopping buy oil from Iran and buy its oil and LNG from the US instead.
America First again - the fusion of the state and corporate interests to generate new customers for US industry.

Quite a lot really.
The source of this current tension is:- the war in the former British colony of Aidan now know as Yemen; the instability in the former British Mandate of Iraq which borders Iran; the on going conflict in the former British Mandate of Palestine, now know as Israel; Also most of Europe's oil has to go through The Straits of Hormuz. If Iran (or anybody) blocks them we'll have major supply problems across the whole of Europe including the UK.
So quite a lot to do with us both historically and currently.
We can't just wish away difficult problems around the world, especially when we have been directly and legally responsible for the creation of the situations that caused them.

iran is a sovereign state. The USA is a sovereign state.
History is just that. History. The UK occupied both in the past and both overthrew our puppet masters to rid themselves of our possession.
That does not mean we have any obligations to either today.

In the case of Iran a more accurate analysis historically would be that the US has been the British hammer used to crack the Persian nut. The main company that gains profits the sale of Iranian oil has been the company that was originally called "The Anglo Persian Oil Company". It's now know as British Petroleum.
We are not a side actor in this conflict between the US and Iran, we are one of the major players.

What exactly?
The Japanese PM was in Tehran on the day a Japanse ship was attacked.
I'd say that falls into the in-tray of the Japanese PM.

In the same way I hope that a Tory leader would if they were in opposition , I suspect that in events leading upto the Iraq war it was the LibDems asking questions of HM Government (Labour) and not HM Oppostion (Conservative) , although a few Labour MPs were also prepared to ask questions of their own party ( eg Cook & Corbyn ) |

I forgot about the Vikings.
The Roman's evacuated 300AD.
The Vikings ruled most of the roost from Dublin circa 700 onwards.
Captured the fertile English lands and came to an accommodation with five tribes in the south.
Left a rich cultural legacy.
Scandinavians today don't meddle in these islands - they long since gave up such delusions.

No different from what's already been issued - individuals purported to be from Iran removing something from the side of a ship.
Did American surveillance not record explosives being attached to the ship? Obviously not. And how does this account reconcile with the evidence of the crew about projectiles flying through the air?
There is grounds to be cautious when it comes to US intelligence about its foes in the region, not least the invisible WMD.
Iran's says its uranium programme is now just a few days away from the limit set under the nuclear deal.
That is the next big crisis.
It does not mean they have bomb material, only that their stock of lightly enriched uranium exceeds the cap. It shortens the potential journey time to weapons grade.
The US is demanded Iran complies with the limit set out in the deal.
This makes the US position untenable.
Trump walked away from it because it was the "worst deal in history".
Now he says it should be upheld.
He cannot have it both ways.
The deal was the best mechanism of curbing proliferation from civilian technology.
The UK, EU, Germany, China and Russia continue to be signatories, but they cannot protect Iran from Trump's economic warfare using the dollar's position as the reserve currency.
Iran, understandably, is moving to protect itself from US attack and questioning why it should adhere to something that was supposed to ease its economic pain, not increase it. |

With the exception of Israel, Saudi and its Sunni affiliates, I think Trump will find he is on his own when it comes to military conflict with Iran.
Who in their right mind would go to war with an Army lead by Trump?
He has no clear strategy.
Not on foreign policy at any rate.
His only objective is re-election, by hook or by crook. |

Grainy, poor quality footage showing nothing. Later released video in colour, again nothing to see. Still picture of what the Americans say is remnants of limpet mine.
Given the illegal Iraq war was based on a mass of fabricated bollocks from a war mongering country I'll treat any "evidence" with suspicion

Iran has two parallel power structures.
The elected government and the theocracy. They are not always in agreement and can end up with differing policies.
The Revolutionary Guard sits somewhere in-between and does its own thing.
It's perfectly possible that it was both an attack carried out by Iran and not carried out by Iran.
It's possible that it wasn't Iran at all.
It's possible that it was Iran and there is evidence. I agree the images and reports from Japan make this seem suspect.
It is possible that it was Iran but the evidence was fabricated.
However, the conclusion of the USA pulling out of the nuclear agreement is some sort of a crisis.

Those power structures actually exist in every country including our own, you don't think there's civil servants with they're own agenda? Or parts of military intelligence that do their own thing?.
In the West it's just harder to get away with or at least it used to be when we actually had journalism.
They'll be no war with Iran anyway, the one good thing about trumps base is they absolutely don't like foreign wars unlike the democrats and the US establishment |

an unmanned spy drone, and yes he tweeted about how many could die in their retaliation of the destroyed drone.
Oh and he said they were thinking about "3 sights" to strike, but decided it was not proportionate to do so,10 mins before preparing to so.
note the 3 'sights'...
He would have cost lives and millions of dollars, but took the time to think about it 10 minutes before spending lots of money and more importantly killing people.

I see the US aviation authorities have ordered their own airlines not to cross Iran airspace.
Good reason, too, and not just because of what happened in Ukraine to MH 17.
Does anyone remember Iran Air Flight 655?
An Airbus with 290 passengers and crew, flying from Tehran to Dubai in the summer of 1998.
Shot down with a US missile over the Strait of Hormuz.
Everyone dead. 66 children among them.
The US said its warship mistook the aeroplane for an incoming missile.
In one of the most remarkably stupid statements ever, the US vice-president George Bush declared: "I don't care what the facts are. I will never apologise for the United States."
The crew of the warship were given a ticker-tape welcome home and the captain given a medal.
Four months later, Pan Am Flight 103 exploded above Lockerbie.
|

The U.S didn't mistake the plane for a missile.
The USS (sorry, can't remember the name) entered Iranian waters and mistook Flight 655 for an Iranian F14 after one it's helicopters came under fire. Attempts were made to communicate with the plane for it to identify itself but there was no response. After a final warning, they decided to shoot down the plane which was on it's correct flight path.
It might have helped if the Americans had attempted to communicate on civilian frequencies.
They have never formally apologised, they mentioned 'deep regret' at the hearing and paid Iran 60 odd million dollars.
Haven't seen many documentaries on this one... |

It should be noted that Bush's 'no apology' spiel was not about that particular incident and all American servicemen and women receive medals upon completion of tours of combat.
Regardless, it's the worst military/civilian cock up in history and it looks like the U.S government were once again guilty of a cover up.
There's one Hollywood movie never to be made... |

You are right about the quote, too - my memory must be lapsing now lol.
Certainly, it was interpreted in Iran as a pretty defiant response to the slaughter of their citizens.
I followed the story when I took an interest in the Lockerbie air disaster.
The US had been expecting a response from Iran after Flight 655.
The investigation on both sides of the Atlantic pointed to a Shia militia unit in Lebanon, allegedly commissioned and funded from Tehran.
Along came the first Gulf War and politically it became more important to keep Iran sidelined, so the Libyans became the fall guys instead.

If I remember correctly, the 'compensation' offered by the U.S was different for the dead that worked and paid tax and those that didn't or were unable to work. Therefore, the death of each child was compensated less than each adult. I believe there was another much bigger payment made to Iran when the U.S Government's lid on some of the military records became loose. |

My family arrived in this country as refugees early in the last century from Eastern Europe in lands never occupied by the Romans or the Vikings although possibly the Vikings might be a slight connection, difficult to know.
I am proud of my ancestry but it has no relevance as I am now British just as many people who came to this country to live and prosper and had children here, those children are now British as I am whatever race, colour or religion they may be.Yes proud to be from the Wirral from Merseyside.

The UK, Germany, France, the EU, China and Russia all want to keep the nuclear deal intact.
The EU has set up a financial exchange with Iran that allows trade to be conducted in currency other than the $ to avoid US sanctions and so adhere to its side of the bargain.
Israel is now taking the EU to court for circumventing US sanctions.

Israel also raising legal action in Gibraltar to seize the Iranian tanker and use the proceeds of the sale to compensate victims of Hezbollah.
There seems little doubt Israel is emboldened by Trump, for whom the only special relationship is that with Israel. |

A press release issued by Shurat HaDin, aka the Israel law centre, yesterday.
"Israeli lawsuit targets European efforts to bypass sanctions on Iran"
The case is being raised in France and seeks to confiscate any Iranian funds passing through INSTEX and use them to compensate the families of terror victims, based on US court rulings awarding compensation against the Governments of Syria and Iran.
The press release makes clear in the opening paragraph the intention is to hobble trade between Iran and the EU and so prevent US sanctions being by-passed. |

The legal action is consistent with the wider policy of Israel, which is to destroy the joint agreement, INSTEX and isolate Iran.
Did you see Benjamin Netanyahu's Twitter video yesterday?
"It seems there are those in Europe who will not wake up until Iranian nuclear missiles land on European soil. By then it will be too late."
So there we have it - the Iranians want to annihilate Europe with nuclear bombs. Complete bollocks, but it probably plays well to the extremists at home.

Interesting to see the US state department on a tour of countries that buy Iranian oil carrying two key messages:
A) Here is the price of US oil and gas
B) If you continue buying from Iran, we will declare economic war on you.

As £GBP drops daily and is likely to stop even further as the prospect of “no deal” becomes a reality - the timing will be unfortunate for a Gulf incident to cause a spike in oil prices.
The U.K. has foreign debt to service - it is getting more expensive to do that and will become even more expensive as £GBP devalues.
The Govt no longer has control of interest rates and so will be unable to play interest rates to try to support the currency. The Bank of England’s priority is the economy - not the Governments survival.
A low currency value, low interest rates and high oil prices will completely fuck us all up.

Yeah Iran is such a pain in the arse they haven't invaded another sovereign nation in over 300 years... Unlike our good friends the US of A who have invaded over 50 sovereign nations since 1945 You'd probably find that the USA has financially supported more terrorist/guerrilla warfare groups than Iran as well before you claim that's a good enough reason to try and flatten Iran...
If the UK hadn't detained the MV Grace 1 in Gibraltar then we wouldn't be seeing British vessels being taken in the Persian Gulf... It's time we stop meddling in the affairs of other countries, particularly in the Middle East. |

Turkey may fall out of NATO as a consequence of all of this.
Another Putin win.
Turkey may also tip into recession and potential chaos just on the basis of Erdogan being a dictatorial dick. This loses the country billions in F35 contracts too.

Why didn't the Spanish act upon the intelligence supplied to them by the USA?
The EU have sanctions in place which forbids the export of oil to Syria. The Spanish navy have the means to act but decided not to uphold the sanctions.
It was left to the UK to act as soon as the tanker was in Gibraltar waters.
The UK have stated over and over again that the tanker is free to go once assurances have been received from Iran that the oil is not destined for Syria. So far, no assurances have been received. |

That's realpolitik. Where the choices are difficult and wrong whichever way you go.
Europe (including the UK), still support the nuclear agreement with Iran which the USA has reneged on unilaterally and forced sanctions on European countries.
That has forced the crisis in the Gulf.
The EU are trying to not leave Iran isolated because historically if you leave any group with nothing to lose the consequences are usually bad.
I guess the EU calculation was was to balance one crap outcome against another and were going to look the other way.
I have seen the headlines of the offer but with the USA holding sanctions over any company or country trading with Iran their options are limited. They desperately need the money though.
The UK has decided to tow the US line on this and hey presto, a wholly predictable crisis in the Gulf targeting Usk shipping.
The only country to benefit is the USA. |

I was just looking at the sanctions application. Yawn I know, but prefer to look at the actual information.
The seizure was based on the Banyas refinery being European owned. As far as I can tell it is Syrian state owned but some assets there may be European. Not really sure.
I think you could choose to interpret it either way.
We made a choice that Spain didn't choose. I would suggest that the reasoning had more to do with relations with the USA than anything to do with Syria |

They are paid to fight, not to conduct field executions, murder civilians or abuse prisoners.
None off that is acceptable even in wartime.
Should the penalties be different due to the circumstances? Quite possibly. That's why there are Courts Martial.
Before the gibberish starts, yes of course they do something that I doubt that I am capable of and no I have no idea how I would act in those circumstances.
They need the best equipment and support after operations.
It doesn't make them blameless if they deliberately target the innocent though. |

Uk impounded their ship because it was breaking EU rules since we are leaving the EU give it back as long as they give our ship back. Honestly smells of Mrs Mays last shit doing anything she can to prevent the UK leaving the EU. Willing to see our solders die to waste time and have brexit fail.
I would suggest that the reasoning had more to do with relations with the USA than anything to do with Syria "
Prefer to look at the actual information lol that’s amazing lol, bet you didn’t keep a straight face typing that
In tears here lol |

Yes, there is a deliberate and concerted attempt to invade Iran, who remain one of the few truly independent nations, and bring them into the World fold by force.
The Warmonger John Bolton, alongside being busy trying to invade Venezuela and among other tings get his grubby mitts on their oil reserves, is rushing ahead full steam to ignite conflict.
Funny how when it's the Western world doing the illegal and hostile invading, it's ok! How does that work?
After Iran is done, that should pretty much be it for the Middle East. All other nations in that area are now onboard with the global agenda I think.
Next it will be onto Asia.
Starting with Malaysia!
Look out for the main media outlets waving their arms declaring Malaysia is bombing/poisoning their own people, attacking British tankers, hiding weapons of mass destruction and all the rest of it, not forgetting being backed by Putin or whoever we are told the enemy is at the time. All this coming our way soon!
Same old same old every single time. |

To be fair, I get that some might not be so convinced, so don't worry!
Remember when Colin Powell sat in a UN meeting and held up a test tube while talking about weapons of mass destruction.
He's not the only one who's done something like that.
What was in that test tube? Deadly novichok style poison or nerve agent?
What would have happened if he had dropped it, right in the middle of a UN meeting? (oops)
...
It was a prop. |

I hope you don't fall for the shit on the news so easily when it's Malasyia's turn. They're on the list for hostile takeover at some point too. They may be the very next one after Iran. They've been in the bad books ever since holding a trial for America for war crimes against Iraq.
Before this happens, expect to see a swathe of 'incidents' being reported on the news as Malaysia, with the usual talking heads and MPs being wheeled out urging that action must be taken, as they've been told to say.
When Colin Powell told the UN we must go to war with (invade) Iraq, he sat in the televised meeting and held up a little test tube. Do you believe the test tube contained something old Saddam was going to use against us? What would have happened if he had dropped the test tube in front of the UN?
It was a prop.
It worked a treat though, because it just sent that message that here was 'proof' of Saddam's big bad weapons.
Now that's hilarious. |
