"Anti semitism has not gone away for corbyn."
I wouldn't be surprised if the conservatives basically end up with the same sort of investigation in regards to islamaphobia....
in fact i am sure the Muslim Council of Great Britain asked the EHRC for the same sort of enquiry yesterday.....

" well we will see Not a good look for the party when the only other party to be investigated by them was the BNP .Still they got one thing right kicking alistair campbell out of the party i saw enough of him on the tv when he was master of spin for blair. |

Incredible that they can kick Campbell out within a couple of days, yet some of these antisemitism cases which appear cut and dried are hanging around for years.
Double standards which the public see through every time. |

Who would have thought that the Labour party of the 21st Century would have so many similarities to the Nazi party of the early 1930's onwards? Just about everybody, that's who. Corbyn is the leader of a party of Judaeophobes and he needs to be stopped. His supporters should also come under close scrutiny to ensure the future safety of our Jewish brethren. |

I'm not a labour supporter. But none of this is even remotely true. Hence my comment that your post is bizarre.
If you're genuinely concerned about bigotry within political parties in the uk, there are more pressing concerns. |

Do you have better info than the human rights commission? That is why he is being investigated as leader of the party. He is the most extreme party leader in Europe currently. Extremism and Jew hating are the parallels which if not stopped now could have comparative consequences. Too late will be too late. |

Let's wait and see what the independent investigation yields.
Or have you made up your mind already?

I have Jewish family in London and they are regularly verbally abused. The police do nothing about it and the local labour-run council refuse to acknowledge that the problem exists. Wait until you have family who are abused due to their faith by others of a different faith and see what help you get. Jewish people already know that Labour has let them down. This inquiry will let everyone else know. |

Really if both the Tory and Labour party burn down, to the point where both need a serious rethink about their values and institutions, I wouldn't shed too many tears.
Both parties have contributed to post war Britain and modern Britain being successful, both have had their fuck ups.
But both can do so much better than they are now, and we deserve that much. |

I get abuse, too.
On a bus, in a pub, on a street.
I do not blame any political party for that, it's just the way it is.
People hate for 101 different reasons.
Each time, it says 101 different things about that person, and none about me.

In a fair and open society people in the public eye are open to scrutiny and that is what is happening here. To conflate this investigation into a mccarthyite witch hunt hunt is dangerous ground indeed - one should be very careful what one wishes for! Democracy is already under threat in this country aided and abetted by a right wing press who are so afraid of JC that they try every trick in the gutter they inhabit to slur his name. Be vigilant and aware and don’t believe the hype! The truth will out |

It seems like you dont like Labour for some reason, and you're going completely overboard about it. Their problems with bigots within the party are relatively minor compared to other parties who are openly anti-Islam, for example.
I'm just pointing this out to you as its relevant to the thread.

Posts on here have suggested that Labour "kicked-out" Alistair Campbell from the party ,,, I believe that if you are a Labour Party Member ( I am not - so apologies if I am wrong ) and you vote for another party you actually disqualify yourself , so when Campbell said on TV that he had voted LibDem he was technically resigning ----- I believe the same rules apply to the Tory party , ( again I am not a member ) so any Tory Member who voted Brexit Party are now not allowed to vote in the leadership election , unless of course they are dishonest people , Alistair Campbell was honest in answering the question he was asked , |

If you want to deflect from Labour's bigotry against the Jewish citizens of this country and discuss your "parties who are openly anti-Islam" assertions you are very free to start your own thread. This thread is called "human rights commission to investigate labour".
What motive do you have for wanting to marginalise Labour's anti-Jewish undercurrents? Are you a Jew hater too? There are many in the UK. |

You are stretching things trying to blame a political party for what you see as the failings of a party.
If your relatives stand out from the crowd in traditional dress, I can well believe there are scumbags out there who will give them abuse.
They do the same to people in traditional Arab dress, too.
They do the same to LGBT.
If you want to blame anyone for the rise in hate, blame those populists who decree that political correctness is over. They are the ones emboldening people to act on their petty insecurities.

But it's not the "populists" who are currently being investigated, nor are they the subject of this thread. An entire British political party is - one of the two main parties. And that doesn't seem to worry some people. Why? When was the last time one of the two main parties in Britain investigated by the human rights commission? Does your love of Labour overshadow your human decency? Would you vote for a major party that was under investigation for anti-transvestite rhetoric? No, I don't think you would. |

I suspect Sara wouldn't also jump to thinking they are the fourth reich.
The Labour Party seems to have issues. I agree.
I can't see the leap from these issues to Nazi any more than tories, ukip or the Brexit party.. All of whom seem to have an unsavoury element... |

I asked you if you had already made up your mind on the subject, and you cited the experience of your relatives in London who get abuse on the streets because of their religious identity. That was what I responded to.
I do not know what cases the HRC is investigating.
Presumably they are more compelling than the one you gave.
But if your account is typical, then the issue is a societal one, not a party political one.

Are the tories, Ukip or the Brexit party currently under investigation for anti-semitism by a National body set up for the purposes of promotion and enforcement of equality and non-discrimination laws? No, they're not. Labour are. And which was the last major national party who were irrevocably linked to antisemitism? |

Just a few examples that will be considered by the commission:-
Corbyn was the chair of an organisation that participated in the antisemitic Quds Day.
Corbyn has called the antisemitic terrorist organisation Hamas "friends".
Corbyn was a member of multiple antisemitic facebook groups.
Corbyn defended an antisemitic mural.
The vice-chair of Momentum claimed that Jews were the financiers of the slave trade and was only briefly suspended. She also questioned if there are workable antisemitism definitions and why Jewish schools need security.
Naz Shah approved of an image that can be interpreted as questioning Israels right to exist (criticism of Israel is not necessarily antisemitic; applying double standards, demonization, or delegitimization of Israel is). She also likened Israel to Nazi Germany and said that "the Jews are rallying", and shared pro-Hamas tweets. Shah was suspended, but later reinstated. She now regrets these incidents and agrees that they were antisemitic.
Ken Livingstone said that Jews will not vote for Labour because they are rich, said that Hitler supported Zionism, etc. Labour did not see the antisemitism. He was suspended, but not expelled.
Labour provided a platform to Miko Peled, who thinks that "the Holocaust should be open to debate". At the same event, delegates proposed to expel Jews who are not for the destruction of Israel from the party.
While Labour adopted the IHRA definition on antisemitism, they removed examples. They also say that accusations of dual loyalty - a classic antisemitic canard - is not antisemitic.
The head of Labour's dispute panel defended a Holocaust denier.
local council candidates urged others to "question the Holocaust" and "Rothschilds Jewish mafia", and posted other Rothschild conspiracy theories. |

Add to that the fact that the disputes process can be finalised in 2 days for some cases of procedure (Campbell) but not when the dispute involves overt racism. That must tell you everything you need to know about Labour's record on antisemitism. |

The thing is that anti Semitism is regarded as worse than skin colour racism. Islamaphobia is a little more acceptable (rightly or wrongly) because of the amount of Islamist terrorism in the world.
If labour are unwilling to address this, then they are screwed. Because the Jewish lobbying groups in this country, while not being as important as they are in the US, are still a powerful force in British politics. |
