As a CNN pundit just said "[Cohen] isn't credible, but he is believable" and I think that's spot on.
It's also worth noting that in all the Mafia hearings in congress over the years, they always quite happily take the testimony from Mafiosi underlings who have comitted far worse crimes than Cohen (murder, lies, extortion etc)
I also think that this is just a glimpse of the evidence that Mueller and more importantly the Southern District of NY have on Trump and his nearest and dearest.
It's also notable that not a single republican has asked anything about Trump. None of them have a single question? They're all terrified of upsetting Trump's voter base. Let's hope they grow a fucking spine at some point. |

notice that not one republican today tried to either defended trumps credibility or dispute the evidence, it was all about trying to attack cohen.......
trump has all sorts of problems, bank and insurance fraud top of the list and other thing...
you can see why AOC is hated by the right, because she basically took apart trump in her questioning and also opened the door for absolutely reasonably asking for both other witnesses for further hearings... and requesting his tax returns!

AOCs line of questioning is exactly what we should see more of in congressional hearings. No grandstanding or speeches. She asked the questions that needed to be asked to lay the foundation of getting more access to documents and more witnesses to testify.

see... probably the 3 most convincing people to questioners yesterday happened to be the final 3... the 3 highest profile freshmen in AOC, Pressley and Tlaib, and then the summing up by cummings...
because their questioning basically laid out that if he by some luck manages to no get obstruction of justice charges levelled at him in the russia investigation.... they will get him on possible RICO charges, and thats why all the way thru this he has said that going into his business is a red line.....
and because possible RICO charges are state rather than federal (although they can by both) the SDNY get to make the decision.... if he is RICO'd he will be impeached, no doubt! |
