We had an interesting discussion about it in my spain want gibraltar thread so thought I would make a new one about it. I reckon it is over and all territories should be handed over, whats your view? |

There is also the issue that a lot of people living in these possessions want to remain British. Why else would we still have any kind of presence in places like Belize, The Falkland Islands, Ulster etc? |

Sorry to call bullshit on your position Shag but the age of colonialism is far from over, the age of British colonialism may be coming to an end but it is being replaces by the age of Chinese, US and Russian colonialism.
Colonialism is a fact of human life it is like canal water, changing but changeless. It has always been thus in the world since the dawn of history and I doubt it will ever change. |

"Who gets Cyprus? Turkey, Greece or UK?
Cyprus is lovely...
I the point would be that Cyprus "gets" Cyprus... "
...which is of course already an independent state, albeit disputed and with bits of UK territory...
Just thought I'd get that in before being corrected! |

RAF Akrotiri used to be a wonderful place, when there you could spend the morning skiing on Mount Olympus and the afternoon on the beach! |
