Doesn't matter who originally said it. We are all trained to be worker drones in society ( the workers) to benefit the rich and keep the poor poor. But we defie the rich by thinking for ourselves and know just how to have fun regardless of politics and society

I had to read this 3 times then go to trusty Google.

If I understand it the UK is a mix of socialism and capitalism.

I remember when the government owned the major players like British Rail and the privatisation that followed.

Was that a good thing or a bad thing?

Do you think you need a mix of both capitalism and socialism for a successful country? In terms of people can get a fair shot and also reap the rewards (probabaly over simplified)After looking (only quickly) on the merits I think a mix of both more appealing

than either on their own.

It just go me thinking if I had the power to change things how would I do it.

A mix of capitalism and socialism works extremely well in Singapore....it is no coincidence it is called the Tiger economy and enjoys the highest standards of education anywhere in the world. I also learned the delights of a long island iced tea there!

Yes i think so, capitalism (money) is obviously a good way to have something to trade and barter with that isn't so limiting as only having a skill. The problem is when where someone can earn 1,000x more money per hour than the average worker ever will.

Then of course all people will have basic needs, these are considered a home/shelter, food, clothing, warmth, health. But many people do not have access to these things despite the resources being there, it's just their financial situation that that is limiting them.

Look at the amount of useless crap that is worth a fortune? And people will buy this crap or treasure it because they have an excess and abundance of money. Then others will starve, or have to sell the home they spent all their working life for...for nothing...just to obtain access to health care (eg.in the USA who are not as socialist as us).

It's when people obtain wealth to excess and others have a lack of it, thatis the problem. Capitalism, as it is now, allows both extremes.

Nobody works 1,000 times harder than someone else, you cannot justify their wealth by saying they earned it. Everyone who gives up their time is doing the exact same amount of work, they're giving up their life for the privilege of what?

The wage divide is totally ridiculously unfair. I couldn't agree more that 1 persons working time is a valuable as another. And when someone works hard they shouldn't be left in the position to struggle whilst the next person earns an exorbitant amount.

It’s success is built on low state support and a clever way of taxing land. So we’d need to get rid of most of what we hold dear to the UK (state pension. NHS). And do some kind of state reclaim of privately owned housing.

It’s a good model. But almost the opposite of the UK.

My immediate thought is oh no can't get rid of the those things.

What would they be replaced with?

I just wish we were all valued the same from the cleaner to the footballer and after working hard people weren't 'screwed' over.

More likely to have been said by

Paul Robeson, Marian Anderson, or/& W.E.B. Du Bois,

Then formed & written into His Essay Paper.

I thought it might be an extract from the new book about Jeremy Corbyn.

I heard it getting plugged non-stop in an advert for the Daily Mail on the radio this morning.

And right enough, when I went to the co-op, the front page of the Mail had Corbyn left, right and centre.

The greatest danger since, I dunno, the last one.

Struck me as a bit panicky.

Do you think an election is near?

That made me laugh cos i often think of people as programmed drones, especially the ones who have their newsflow curated for them, rather than checking stuff out for themselves and seeing whats really going on.

He was Jewish so therefore highly unlikely to have been a Nazi. And the Nazi's weren't socialists .

We had all this back in 92, when everyone was certain that Kinnock’s Labour would win the general election. History will tell you that all the opinion polls and even the bookies got it wrong (on the morning of the election you could still get 7/4 against a Tory victory). The left wing firebrand was beaten by the Conservative grey man. I can see the same thing happening the next time we go to the polls, there are many parallels.
