this seems like the best place to put this.....
which tory brexiteer mp has had the worse day....
my favourite dipshit, nadine dorries, who has been caught again going down the "they all look the same" train by getting two asian ladys mistaken for each, apologising to the bbc (but not the ladies concerned) and this time throwing in the twist of making herself out to be the victim in all those
or one of centys favourite brexiteers, mp daniel kawczynski, who went on a epic twitter rant and the EU and germany basically owing us the balls after WW2, how the marshall plan basically rebuilt germany whilst the UK got no money ect ect ect..... only for it the pointed out that the country that got the most money from the marshall plan was....the UK!, then when this was pointed out on a radio interview rather than just owning it, he hung up!!!
why do tories even bother with social media...... you know they are no good at it!!!!
and thats without mentioning the tweet by the blackpool young conservatives yesterday lamenting the fact that you can't call people of pakistani origin "paki's" anymore because its not PC!!!.....
seriously... that happened today, in 2019!!!!

Because they have the right wing press on their side to make excuses for them and there are a lot of mugs who will take their word as gospel regardless.
My favourite more light hearted Tory failure was this weird general election campaign video put out on social media

and that is the thing that got me... it not the first time she got caught on the "they all look the same" train so she is now officially a repeat offender!
you just wish at time there was a "social media" director at CCHQ, where tweets from mp's are run thru for "vetting" first.... just so they wouldn't make such prize twits of themselves..... |

Apparently though, Labour are the racist party. They are or have you lived in another world for the last few years"
Nope, I've just noticed little of any substance in the accusations. We had the mail and the express at work at the time, and the articles easily unravelled.
All they had was that Jeremy Corbyns office organised some speakers on Palestine and one compared the Israeli state to the Nazis.
The irony of this though that the man in question was Hajo Meyer, a Jewish survivor of Auschwitz. Apparently, a rabid antisemite.... |

I replied direct and to the point, it's unpleasant and unnecessary language of which politicans like to use to whip up their own voters, it's done on both sides of the political divide mind you although thank goodness not so much here in the UK as abroad. |

I don't think she costs them as much as you believe. Whilst I don't agree with a lot of what she says I think Jeremy & John cost them more from the centre right and left (which is who they have to convince to win an election). I also think that the hatred for Diane is mostly from the vicious wing of the mad right and is seen by most people for what it probably is, sexist and racist.

I think a closer look at trade union attitudes to West Indian migrants in the 60s and 70s might show that actions in the socialist movement haven't always lived up to their higher ideals.

Calling her fat and ugly is sexist calling her out on her batshit crazy stuff she comes out with is not and besides that she comes out with pretty racist shit herself when it comes to alluring voters like when she was picked up on the West Indian mothers are the best remark by Andrew Neil, so where do you send your kids to school Diane? It's safe to say Labour have had a media advantage since Blair. He made politics a fashion that the Con's were just unable to deal with. There may be a case too for simple party names that people are readily willing to associate themselves with - Labour or Conservative. Conservative has always been a hush word.
It is very easy to tie ill sentiment to rightist thinking but very difficult to associate it any to Leftist. Though this has little directly to do with social media and any party base. When social media can influence how people react and so quickly, remarks like those the OP point out can easily influence and create uniformity, where people would not want to be associated with that party, I'd think. |

No.
But just so you know, since the guardian stopped being a co-op, there aren't any leftist mainstream papers in this country, with the occasional exception of The Mirror.
Indy- centrist, seems more pro lib dems than anyone else, possibly waiting for the supposed "break away" party of Blairites from Labour.
Guardian- pro "new" Labour, very anti Corbyn/the Labour party at the moment. Seems torn between wanting to please it's traditional readership (because obviously it wants to sell papers) and convincing them that their politics are wrong.
Times- Right wing
Telegraph- further right than the times, but with bigger words than:
The Mail.
The express: very right wing.
The sun: right wing, but not as much as the two tabloids above.
The mirror: centre left. |

The swathe of rightist papers would mean there is mass acceptance of rightist sentiment when rejection of it carries far more weight especially in the public sphere. Johnson has had a distinct fall from grace.. Farage has even changed his rhetoric.
The number of Labour MP's last elected too don't reflect this along with the huge rise in Labour membership. Easy media must account for something. |

Don't conflate Johnson's fall from grace with leftism. There is definitely mass acceptance of right wing economics and policy. You can be incredibly right wing without racism or nationalism. |

It's great how you tie extremist language to the right. It is what I said a few posts up - that it is easy to do but no so much with the Left.
Economics and policy may be right wing, though the amount of news distributors you mention would signal a (dangerous) cultural norm of rightist societal values too, something which is frowned upon. This is completely different to any economic agenda (Labour have policy that would curb immigration I might add). Why the Tory aren't winning every election is a mystery with all this eh?
If you read what I said, I never said Johnsons fall from grace was due to any Leftist movement, and it only reflects that what I have said throughout. I gave Johnsons fall as an example as he was in the limelight and there's been a distinct shift in Johnsons appeal. If he had support from a cultural norm of newspapers readership alone, he'd still be toffing down the high street.

You're not kidding. The difference is is that in the Conservative Party they know there are racists in there mists. Some either don't mind or don't care, others are happy with that and others want to do something about it. The problem with Labour is that many in the party don't even accept the fact that there are some racists in their party.

Because there hasn't been any serious left extremism of any note for decades (Baader-Mienhof?).
The prevalent extremism at the moment are the far right and the religious right. "
The idea that if you're on the Left absolves you of prejudice, extreme views or being part of a monitored group is quite deluded. |

chris eubank and Chuck Umunna, when I did the comparison I was like, is she colorblind and blunt sighted?
Then came to the conclusion, she's a fucking idiot.

I didn't say that, just that there aren't any these days. The last time there were, was probably the 70s, hence my reference to Baader Meinhof. |

Awkwardly you have the inability to give any examples of far left terrorism in the UK.You do seem to have form in this regard. |

It's only awkward as as it's never been asked, mentioned, commented on, replied to or discussed. Like to make anything else up Bobb?
PS. The thread is discussing Left v's Right's ability to organise on social media.. Jim brought far right and extremism into this, something that I have said throughout, is hard to associate to the Left. So awkwardly, this would give me some consistency. I take it you too think the Left is smells of roses. |

Maybe not lefty terrorism in the UK but the nationalist right leader of Brazil was stabbed in the stomach during a rally and was rushed to hospital for emergency life saving surgery after a lefty activist knifed him during the election campaign in Brazil last year. |

"And yet the tories are 7 points ahead of Labour in the latest polls. Well labour has Diane Abbot she must cost labour a lot of votes lol
"
Dianne Abbot is an out and out racist.
If I had said some of the things she has said I would be having my collar felt and quiet rightly so.
