"I think it is a criticism of Trump but doing it in a subtle way,as allways a bit overstated as is the American way" A criticism of Trump? Wtf? I really do wonder what planet you are on sometimes. Yes, I’m sure WaPo are often (rightly so) critical of Trump, but what is quoted above clearly has nothing to do with Trump. -Matt
"I think it is a criticism of Trump but doing it in a subtle way,as allways a bit overstated as is the American way" Really? Are you absolutely sure?
"I think it is a criticism of Trump but doing it in a subtle way,as allways a bit overstated as is the American way" Trump is not mentioned once. Neither is the USA. It's all about Britain and how absurd its leaders look when viewed from the outside.
"I think it is a criticism of Trump but doing it in a subtle way,as allways a bit overstated as is the American way" Read.. It.. Again..

It has nothing to do with Trumo whatsoever. It has to do with the view of Brexit from outside. -Matt

"Why should anyone here give a flying fuck what the Washington Post has to say? Left wing populist bull plop.." What sources of information do you trust? I'm interested. Centaur only quotes the Express. Sometimes the Telegraph (when quoted by the Express). Brietbart and Infowars too are credible sources in his bubble. Are yours tue same or different?

"Why should anyone here give a flying fuck what the Washington Post has to say? Left wing populist bull plop.." I think the point is more that, from the outside, people can see what a fucking disaster Brexit is. From the inside some of us can’t, and some of us say “project fear” a lot. But high five for the use of “bull plop” in a sentence. Made me chuckle.

Stop telling lies. Funny then that I've often posted links to the Guardian on here. I've also posted links to the BBC/Sky news/RT news/Daily Mail and others. I posted a link to the Guardian on a thread just the other week about Blair having meetings with Michel Barnier. On my thread about the protests against Macron in France I posted a link to the BBC. I can post links to the forum threads in question as proof if you like. It has to be said that you really do appear to live in cloud cuckoo land.

I didn't feel the need to post a thread about the subject Fabio raised being the governor of Virginia. I've also not posted a thread about McLaren cars having their best ever year for sales in 2018, and their announcement that they are creating 800 new jobs in research and development, and news sales teams at the new dealerships and showrooms they're building. The reason I've not posted threads about these things is because I'm not completely and utterly desperate in the same way you Remoaners and Trump haters are, because Trump is already in the White House and Brexit is happening in 2 months and there's not a damn thing you or anyone else can do about it.

"Their take on Brexit, published today: (I'd post the link, but I don't wanted to be banned) "The country is now on the verge of disaster. On March 29, unless something is done, Britain will fall out the European Union without a deal. "That will affect every aspect of the economy. It’s likely to block cargo at the border; pulverize agricultural exports; trigger shortages of food, medicine and radioactive isotopes; spark employment chaos by suddenly canceling the mutual recognition of qualifications between British and European institutions; halt the legal basis for data transfer overnight; and lead to massive and sudden flows of immigration in both directions. The list goes on and on. There is no part of society that is unaffected. And yet not only does the British political class not seem to understand the consequences of what it is doing, it is lost in populist fantasies instead of addressing the cold reality. "Britain is one of the richest and most advanced democracies in the world. It is currently locked in a room, babbling away to itself hysterically while threatening to blow its own kneecaps off. This is what nationalist populism does to a country. " " can you tell us anything new. Not a dig at you but it sums it up. May as well turn our own nukes on the UK. Self destruct.

But I'm afraid all these things must go, your bad people, racists xenophobes and bigots making bad financial decisions for globalists corporations, you will not FUCK this up for Google, Microsoft, Volkswagen and Amazon and you will ATONE.When did we fight this fifty year civil war over, amongst other things, mens rea? I'm intrigued..... You don't know about the history of the English civil war or how it came about?. I know about the history of the English Civil War (although your claim it lasted fifty years is a little curious, to say the least) but you'll have to enlighten me as to why you claim mens rea was a cause for dispute, given that it had been a settled tenet of English law since the thirteenth century. There's no mntion of mens rea in the bill of rights either. Perhaps you should explain to us what mens rea is, and why that might be a cause for dispute in the seventeenth century..... I give way to your knowledge on mens rea, it was of course nothing to do with the English civil war that was of course the bill of rights, 12 years of fighting 50 years in the making is what I should more accurately of put So other than spouting about something you don't understand, and getting the duration of the war wrong, you stand by what you said? Genius. . You sound a bit bitter and childish now. Really? I don't think so. If I cut and pasted I wouldn't have got the length of time wrong don't you think or that mens rea wasn't from the English bill of rights?. I admitted both those discrepancies and moved on, life's like that, try it you might find your childishness lifts a little
"Some empires take longer than others to collapse completely. We are living in the death throes of the British. It's the EU empire that's collapsing. We're leaving it and the cracks are turning into gaping holes on mainland Europe. Your posts are often comedy gold and his one didn’t disappoint. There is no comedy involved in what I said. The UK is leaving the EU. True. The cracks in the EU are turning into gaping holes on mainland Europe. True again, just look at France and Italy now it's self evident, and Greece is still a basket case after the Euro crisis bankrupt the country. " And the British Empire will rise again. Free from the shackles that "others" have conspired to keep it in. Throw off the liberal elite with, all of their questions and uncertainties. The true British can finally tell it like it is and run the country with common sense. It can once again stride the world being given the praise it is due. It's former dominions turning to it for leadership. Yearning for the certainty they once had when it commanded them. Their former enemies will crumble. Hand in hand with the USA and Russia we can form an alliance of strength and certainty. Shutting our doors completely to what we don't want and taking what we do. Yadda, yadda, yadda...
"Some empires take longer than others to collapse completely. We are living in the death throes of the British. For me, the British Empire died post-war. I'm not sure what leaving the EU has to do with empire, mind. Nothing" I'll just leave this here.
"Some empires take longer than others to collapse completely. We are living in the death throes of the British. For me, the British Empire died post-war. I'm not sure what leaving the EU has to do with empire, mind. " This debacle is little about the EU and all about the UK. Leaving the EU won't address the fundamental issues. It's exposed a stinking mindset, the culture of exceptionalism among those who think they are born to rule. They have opened the lid on something really toxic in the heart of these islands. What emerges the other side hopefully will be a state and people at ease with themselves and their place in the world. The United Kingdom was a creation of English expansion that grew into global colonisation. It's disintegration isn't finished.

You might want to think about the amount of ad hominem attacks you've retreated into as soon as you're called out on your bullshit....

"12 years of fighting" Really? So to be clear in your world from the raising of 'The Kings Colours' on the 22 August 1642 in the city of Nottingham to either the beheading of Charles I on a scaffold in front of the Banqueting House (thats the big house across the street from Horse Guards) Whitehall on 30 January 1649, or even the Battle of Worcester on 3 September 1651 is 12 years. Oh no, wait I understand, in your world the English civil war did not end until Cromwell had the Army Council size power in a military coup, dissolve parliament and 'crown' him 'Lord Protector' in 1653.
