Trump pulling out of SALT and StART
Jump to: Newest in thread
Breaking news, the USA is suspending the strategic arms treaties that helped end the cold war.
I think we may be witnessing the beginning of the carve-up of the world as Trump pulls out of the middle East making way for Russia and starts to take over South America. Question is, if this is what is happening, what happens to us and the rest of Europe? |

Yes, he is investing hundreds of billions in a huge expansion of the US nuclear arsenal.
The 1987 agreement with Russia gets in the way.
That prohibited the placement of long-range nuclear-tipped missiles in Europe.
The US has justified its withdrawal by accusing Russia of breaching it.
The Russians reject this.
Europe is asking the US to think again.
Basically, he is risking a new arms build-up.

Im also concerned about the deployment of the missiles in Europe.
How well will that go with thrm deployed to American bases in the uk? |

"putin had been skirting around Start for years so this is really no surprise.....
this just cuts out the pretense that everyone was abiding...... "
Is this typical of trump's modus operandi?
Pull out of deals to shake people up, then make new deals with them? Hopefully including china? |

Do you really want to try that with a wolf like Putin? |

Well, the treaty he has just torn up was the one that removed these missiles from the soil of the UK and other European countries.
The US still has nuclear weapons deployed in various European countries, just not attached to these missiles.

"If trump is in collusion with the Russians/Putin's man in the white house/won election via Russian interference then what is his endgame "
"Peace through strength"
That is the mantra of Trump's team.
It is a bit Orwellian.
That in order to bring the world into line, you need to wield the biggest stick.

He can now do whatever he likes and it will be in reaction to US 'aggression'.
You know like deploying neutron (the ones that kill life but don't do much damage to buildings and the radiation is gone in 20 minutes half an hour) bo*b tipped hypersonic missiles.
That a good enough payoff for you?
Or even reestablish the USSR and most of the old Warsaw Pact borders. After all Trump has said he will not implement article 5 unless Europe pays and Europe is not paying enough. |

So Trump tears up a treaty that controls weapons that threaten Europe, the Middle East, South Asia and the Far East but not North America?
It either forces these countries to spend vast amounts of money in developing nuclear weapons instead of education and healthcare, buying from the USA instead of useful spending or asking for US deployment and submitting to American political leverage.
The interesting question here is where the Trump/Putin fanboys on this site come. It's always the same people who hero worship both.
Is this good for the world? Is ot good for us especially if we're out on our own needing a trade deal and a nuclear umbrella?
Who's to blame if you believe that their is no collusion between Trump and Putin? Which one of their heroes is the bad guy?
I don't think there will be a single response on this thread from them. |

Putin just announced Russia to develop and deploy new medium range hypersonic missiles with new warheads (neutron bo*b type is my guess) in reply. I predicted this and more before Trump was elected. The question is how long until Putin takes back Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia? And how much more of Europe and the Middle East has Trump seeded to Russia for Venezuela oil and control South and Central America in those Russian only present meetings last year and the year before? |
