So it appears that the peoples march wasnt a s big as claimed, now thats a surprise.

Following a request under the Freedom of Information Act, Scotland Yard told The Sunday Telegraph: "The Greater London Authority (GLA) has included an estimated attendance figure of 250,000 in a debrief document.

I’ll reply

I’m a remainers.

I don’t care how many people were reported as going on this march, doesn’t change the fact that Brexit is a load of dog shit.

I’m not clicking on a link by the express, I’m a member of Stop funding hate. I assume it’s inaccurate, xenophobic and poorly written with RANDOM words capitalised.

More than happy to read anything intelligent and interest that makes a point contrary to my point of view.

But I won’t support the hate pedalling Express newspaper.

If standing up for what I believe in makes me a snowflake, then I’ll wear that badge with pride. Especially when it’s given to me by the character Centaur.

Because it's pointless

Maybe because it's boring

Probably because it means nothing

Take your pick

But if you're the petty pointless point scoring types then knock yourselves out

Yes politicians standing up for what they believe, you know like JC being anti eu all his voting life in the commons now trying to run with the fox and hunt with the hounds or TM being a remainer now fudging up leaving, while I wouldnt agree with his politics at least dennis skinner said what he meant and I respected that, the same with MT she meant what she said like it or not, most MPs seem more intent on their bank accounts and career rather than saying what they mean

The Guardian newspaper has a pretty low circulation, I reckon it's biggest buyer is the newsroom teams at the BBC.

It seems to do ok. Perhaps because an Ipsos MORI survey of 35k people last year showed it to be the most trusted newsbrand. Whereas the Sun and Mail were the least.

Ipsos MORI are BBC chums of the highest order. What the BBC want they get from them. They are not at all an independent impartial survey company.

250,000 is a significant number - unless you count each person individually you will never know the true numbers! So how many leave demos got more than 250,000?

I agree it is a big number but thats not the point is it, remainers have been slating the leave campaign for misinformation yet time and again they have been shown to make stuff up, this time it appears atm they have been caught out, it is stupid and lying undermines anyones case. Once someone has lied to meeverything they then say is taken with a pinch of salt.

Well to answer your question about numbers who lied, the organisers of the march or the media? Was it a Donald Trump moment like his inauguration - the biggest ever attendance? Have they broken the law - has it been proved? Now let's look at the leave campaigns. ...proved in a British court of law as having lied & cheated - rest my case!

I would think they'd soon go out of business in that case. And also get kicked out of the Market Research Society who lay down the survey rules.

West London

As the only two sources are Brexit supporting papers with no text quoted and no document available to interrogate I think I'll pass on your assertion as your interpretation of data and theirs is questionable at best.

If you can find the document made available in the freedom of information request but not then replicated even in part then I'll be interested.

They have implied something without giving the actual wording.

Why so that?

The papers claim that the figure was used in a GLA document but is careful not to quote the text or give the context.

This is the FOI to the Metropolitan Police that does exist:

"Dear Mr. Goodman,

Freedom of Information Request Reference No: 2018100001387

I write in connection with your request for information which was received

by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) on 23/10/2018. I note you seek

access to the following:

"Can you please publish any data, information, or estimates you hold, or

have communicated, about the number of attendees at the "Peoples Vote

March" in London on 20th October 2018."

SEARCHES TO LOCATE INFORMATION

To locate the information relevant to your request searches were conducted

by MO6 - Public Order and Resources. The searches failed to locate any

information relevant to your request and therefore the information you

have requested is not held. The MPS has not produced any information on

attendance figures for the People's Vote march."

The Express is quoting the Sunday Times quoting an undisclosed freedom of information request quoting Scotland Yard reporting a figure that the GLA estimated.

There is nothing to give this context. Was this a minimum attendance figure? Maximum? Was it the expected attendance figure? Was it the estimated attendance figure at the start of the demonstration? Who knows? We don't even know what the FOI request was for.

Makes for a good old distraction though:

'Following a request under the Freedom of Information Act, Scotland Yard told The Sunday Telegraph: "The Greater London Authority (GLA) has included an estimated attendance figure of 250,000 in a debrief document.

"Please note this is not a Metropolitan Police Service estimate as we have not recorded an estimated attendance figure for the march."'
