“This is our biggest moment as a nation since the end of the Second World War, when we can recast ourselves in a different way, we can actually play the role on the world stage that the world expects us to play.
“For so long – literally for decades – so much of our national view point has actually been coloured by a discussion about the European Union.
“This is our moment to be that true global player once more – and I think the armed forces play a really important role as part of that.”
- Gavin Williamson, Secretary of State for Defence (interviewed by Daily Telegraph)
The man is deluded, surely.
Here we have another who cannot come to terms with the fact Britain "won" the war but "lost" the peace to Germany in post-war politics.
Who is he referring to when he says the "the world expects" the UK to now fulfil its post-1945 destiny of being a global military power?
I thought this man was immature. I now believe he is deluded, if not dangerous.
Does any subscribe to this nonsense?
I cannot see how the UK can ever come to terms with its true place in the world until people like this learn to move on from WW2.

Is it not strange that the same people who jump up and down screaming “Nazi” at anyone to the right of Comrade Corbyn, seem happy to be cuckolded by Germany now and in the future?
Personally I will never admit defeat to the Germans, nor will I ever trust a Franco - German alliance.
NEVER! |

No, but then neither world war, where Germany attempted to rule the world was either. Now they are trying again via the back door, and France has already capitulated. The remoaner are like the Black Shirts and want to go with Germany.

I hear this a lot.
I mean can you explain the ideological links between this Germany and the one that attempted to "unify" Europe through ethic cleansing and social Darwinism.
If anything given Merkel's blunder back in 2015, she's the opposite. Definitely not arsed about protecting the "Aryan race."
So come on, big claims need a good explanation. |

What speech are you taking about, who made a speech? The only flag waving gimps I have seen of late, are the ones walking up and down behind tv reporters with those disgusting blue and yellow pieces of shit!
Spitfires wont be involved next time we go to war, trident subs might well be though. |

WTF are you on about? YES I said I would fight to protect BREXIT, and I would.
But I have never said or even indicated that I’m proud to have never served my Country. In fact I would have loved to, and had things been different when I left school I would have.
So get your facts straight... |

The 1945 analogy may be apposite in one regard.
After pulling its forces back from Europe, a country wrecked and on its knees, shortages of everything.
A determination not to return to the awful deprivation and squalor of the late 1930s.
And a landslide for the most socialist government ever, determined to slay the five great evils of the time with the most radical programme of nationalisation.
Fingers crossed.

The only people who make a point of saying if they have served or not are those who are proud of their service or lack there of. But you like your hero CinC callname Bonespurs claim that your inability to take the 'Oath of Allegiance' proves nothing, although I can tell you every man and woman who has served is judging you to hell right now because there is nothing stopping any abled bodied person from serving other than their unwillingness to place their body and life on the line for 'Queen and Country'. |

Maybe if you rewind the clock back to 2016, you'd realise Gavin Williamson, that 'immature, deluded, if not dangerous' man (in your words) backed staying in the EU and campaigned for remain. |

Being Remain or Leave either now or in 2016 is not the sole determination of whether someone is a bit of a nob-head or not. I personally know a few Leavers who are not total nobs and quite a lot of Remainers who are.

I’m certain that I never posted that, it doesn’t sound like something I would say, and is not a reflection of my beliefs.
I’m being misrepresented here, I never served, was a cadet when I was a kid but things in the 1980’s led me to the building trade.
I am proud of the achievements of our brave lads and lasses in our forces. Even if our cretinous politicians do send them to fight and die in wars I don’t believe we should be involved in.

I don’t have time to point out all he bullshit on here.
I’m well aware that no one on here is going to change their mind about Brexit. But there are so many holes in the pro-Brexit argument that it’s just funny to point them out.

How many Germans do you know? When did you last visit the country?
You are a racist. You've just defined yourself as one.
You also, bizarrely, rant about facists and Nazis yet express some of the nastiest opinions I have ever heard about how to treat anyone who is not like you either nationality, religion or political view.
You just aren't very nice and, unfortunately, that's the impression that most leave supporters on this forum display.
Happily most leave supporters are not like you, but the more they hear you the less they will want the version of Britain, or perhaps just England, that you want. |

No one is looking at the shit show here and thinking “I wish that was happening here.” " You believe what you want that is your right and to the other poster yes i do mix with the lower classes people trying to live off small plots of land and poor, made all the poorer according to them by joining the euro for a start. As for the shit show as you put it brexit is not big news in spain. |

I wonder how a Russian bot could manage to get over 90 meet in person verifications on here? Tis a mystery.
More likely they wonder how someone who is the complete opposite of them can be so much more popular than they are,it's not nice realising you aren't very attractive! "
Yes, you do have to laugh at the likes of EasyUK on here, posting a few replies ago about how nasty peacehaven is, lol. Presumably he thinks the same about me because more often than not my position is also the complete opposite to his own. Who is more popular? I'll let you and the silent majority on fab decide that
Let's not forget leave turned out to be more popular than remain, lol.
What I don't think the remoaners who post on here regularly realise is just how ugly and unattractive they come across, with their patronising and condescending manner, and the incessant negativity and pessimism, the constant doom, gloom and woe is me attitude they portray. No wonder no one ever wants to meet them, being a miserable bastard is never an attractive look. |

If you think my replies are becoming more ludicrous then it's because the posts I'm replying to from remoaners are becoming more and more ludicrous. It's classic Cause and effect. Remoaners are becoming increasingly desperate and post more ludicrous stuff on here the closer we edge towards Brexit deadline day in March 2019, (cause), the effect is my replies will by their very nature be more ludicrous in response to increasingly ludicrous scaremongering remoaners are coming out with. You can expect the ludicrous level of posts on here to increase the closer we get to March 2019. |

The "silent majority on Fab"?
How do you know what they think on the basis that they are silent and what does that even mean?
As far as your attempts at micro-victories go this is certainly the weirdest.
I am happy for you to find me unattractive. Being patronising and condescending to those who avoid answering difficult questions, openly lie and deny or cherry-pick facts does not strike me as a problem otherwise you just continue to propagate lies and misinformation unchallenged.
It is specifically people, like you, who display contempt of other human beings and lack compassion and kindness that I would never wish to spend any time with.
The fear, hate and misery is what you promote relentlessly even having won.
So happy days |

You two really do live in opposite land.
So far, no doom and gloom myths have been dispelled. Some individuals made claims that were bullshit. But all the information, predicted trends in the economy, by proper economics, and indeed own own government, have been reasonably accurate.
I know the Daily Mail is telling you that no-one knows what will happen. And you’re posting all your hopes on that. But it’s a fools hope.
The country is suffering, and you can deny it till you’re blue im the face, it doesn’t change the facts. This isn’t America, there is no such thing as alternative facts here.
As long as you continue to post your far right Brexit loving rhetoric. And as long as I can be arsed, I’ll still poke at you. |

Brexit is a disaster. We're not even out of the EU yet and we're seeing sharp falls in sterling. Britain is a small country on the fringes of Europe who think they are still centre stage in the world. Well we're not. We haven't been for a long time. If you think the EU is bad wait till we're out. We'll be over run by big US corporations. To get any trade deals with America we'll end up being controlled by American corporations. Privatisation of the NHS to American insurance firms, beef thats been injected with growth hormones, chemicals and GM food from Monsanto. The corporations will insist on being able to trade without limitation meaning everything will be up for sale and our government will be powerless. At least just now we have the protection in the EU by being part of one of the world's biggest trading powers. That will be lost. We'll be the whipping boy of every major power in the world. |

If anyone wants to know why the rest of the world thinks we’re a laughingstock. This is a great example of the pro-Brexit rhetoric that they all find so funny. As would I, if I wasn’t going to be effected by it.I spend alot of time in spain and have many spanish friends and i can tell you from talking in my local bar it seems to me the average working man is not laughing at the uk they are jealous and wish they were leaving too. Yes I speak Spanish, or English , (or French or German as many around here have lived and worked outside Spain) depending on the complexity of the discussion. My Spanish is still not as good as my neighbours' English, despite the fact that Im in a very Spanish area and the need to speak passable spanish is rather more crucial than in many parts of Andalucia |

You are always angry, you're always blaming someone else, you seem to want everyone to "survive" some difficult experience and hope and believe in a better future for which there is absolutely no basis in logic.
Why? The hope I can understand. The nasty stuff I don't get but you criticise me as negative.
I don't understand. Can you actually explain your thoughts? |

How's unemployment across the rest of the EU doing? I take it the EU is the land of milk and honey, where there's full employment and the streets are paved with gold?
Remain predicted 800,000 more unemployed by now, actually there's 600,000 more employed.

Perhaps when we have actually left and severed ties such as the single market and customs union, the Spanish will see that it is possible in the real world and leave too. As might the Italians and even the French!
We could set up our own trading bloc in the future, of former EU nations with no political ties."
Fancy answering your my first question, pal? You know the one where you insinuated that the current Germany is like the one that lead the Axis powers in WW2?
FYI, I doubt anyone who wants the EU minus all the politics (what you are basically suggesting there) would leave.
Most of the fringe left and right parties in EU member states which are Eurosceptic or align that way, talk about leaving as a last resort, and that EU reform is more preferable. |

The overall number of jobs in the UK economy have increased since the Brexit vote in 2016, not fallen as remain predicted.
So why is productivity stagnant?"
Oh dear....you think higher employment automatically increases productivity? |

Productivity did actually increase in the UK in the last half of 2016, and into the early part of 2017, after the Leave vote. Was the biggest jump in productivity for many years. I even did a thread on here about it. |

"So far, no doom and gloom myths have been dispelled. Some individuals made claims that were bullshit. But all the information, predicted trends in the economy, by proper economics, and indeed own own government, have been reasonably accurate. What like mass unemployment if we vote leave, house prices falling? these were predicted didnt happen.
Maybe not in opposite land but meanwhile in the real world, real people have lost their jobs as a direct result of Brexit and house prices have fallen.
How's unemployment across the rest of the EU doing? I take it the EU is the land of milk and honey, where there's full employment and the streets are paved with gold?
Remain predicted 800,000 more unemployed by now, actually there's 600,000 more employed.
House prices have increased since brexit."
Individual governments and people their own decisions in how to invest and develop.
Some did better than others. Poland didn't even see a recession after 2008.
Employment was growing before the referendum. The rate of change has leveled of but stayed on a similar trajectory.
GDP has, however, dropped significantly relative to before the referendum. So we would, as a country at least, be wealthier and there would have been even more jobs created over the same period.
Jobs have also been lost on a large scale. Look at retail and Jaguar Land Rover.
However, bear in mind that the global economy had a very unexpected period of synchronized growth from late 2016. Pure luck. This meant that our fall in GDP did not lead to recession.
The Bank of England spent £3.1bn of our money to mitigate the consequences of the referendum vote.
This is not "doom and gloom", it's just a realistic, dispassionate assessment of the information available.
The remain campaign exaggerated the immediate consequences of a vote to leave in line with the Conservative party election book.
The fact that things are worse but there was no diaster does not that everything predicted by that remain is untrue nor that anything that leave promised is true.
If you have an alternative please lay out your thoughts as a coherent narrative rather than quote individual pieces of data.

Productivity today is no higher than it was in 2008. It is stagnant. |
