Some say £1 gbp for $1 dollar or €0.90
Even house prices dropping by 30%
Weekly shop up by 10%
Visa for hols in Europe
£ucked basically

I'm against it, as it's terrible for me country.
The conservatives imposed the brexit clusterfuck on the country, split the country's population against each other, spent £billions on it that would have been better spent on the issues people had, such as limited/expensive housing, rundown services etc. It's the problem they caused and must rectify. |

A little difficult to decipher, but it appears that you’re suggesting risk takers can create chances in the chaos of a post Brexit Britain?
I would agree with that to a degree, but unless you’re a risk taking ultra rich elite, there is zero chance of it coming out well for you.
The likes of Rees Mogg will wait until the pound crashes, then buy up a load with the Euros he’s been buying up over the last two years. And he will sit pretty on his pile of gold like Scrooge McDuck.
The rest of us will be dealing with more and more austerity, hiked food prices, loss of workers rights, loss of environmental protection, loss in wages etc.
If you can’t face reality, feel free to use buzzwords like “remoaner” and “project fear” to your hearts content.

I see Kent has got the begging bowl out.
The council there reckons it needs £20 million to improve the roads for the logjam caused by a no-deal brexit.
It's estimating 10,000 lorries will be held up, blocking roads and preventing local people going about their daily work.
Rubbish uncollected because bin lorries are stuck in traffic jams, care workers missing appointments because they are stuck in traffic jams etc.

There will be another referendum. It is inevitable and anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded. Trouble is it will only produce a similar result and that depends on what is on the ballot paper. I think the EU/May deal will be thrown out completely as unworkable so that might give us the chance of something more decisive. In the mean time the clock is ticking and more jobs and damage to economy goes on. |

I would agree with that to a degree, but unless you’re a risk taking ultra rich elite, there is zero chance of it coming out well for you.

The charts were based on GDP and where our money was spent as a nation.
The smallest sector of UK spending was our membership fee to the EU - which actually worked out at £26 per person per annum.
The highest was the welfare budget. Another significant chunk was the interest payment on the national debt! |

ONS has it as being £123 pp py based on the net of rebate and grants number of £9bn. On 18bn gross it’s still £250ish. |

The House of Lords looked into it in great detail and said that in the event of no deal we're not legally obliged to pay the EU a single penny. The £39 billion is only conditional on a deal being reached and signed off by both sides. The deal has not been signed off by the UK as yet because Parliament has not voted in favour of it. |

Why did you delete the bit where I said I'd rather the UK wasn't part of the EU's galileo satellite system? I'd rather they just give us a refund for the money we paid into it and then say goodbye to them. As I said we're better off sticking with the American GPS system that is already up and running and is tried and tested, until such time we can launch our own. |

Imposing punitive tariffs on us now then eh. UK consumers would just switch to cheaper products from elsewhere, either UK produced products or products from the rest of the world outside of the EU. The EU is just 15% of the world's economy and rest of the world outside of the EU holds 85%. The EU's 15% share is decreasing and is forecast to Continue to decreasing in future while the rest of the world's gets bigger. That is where our priority should be with the 85% increasing percent. |

So what is going to replace the money that the eu gives back to our scientists and engineers which has patently put us into a world class position? Galileo was about creating an alternative to GPS and whether that was meant to prove that all the eu investment had a purpose or whether it was to give a safety net in case the US were to restrict our access to all forms of GPS (given the behaviour of POTUS) i can only guess but as far as I can see there does not seem to be any real replacement on the books for this huge amount of funding. Please dont drop into low level cheap sniping here because it’s a real issue unlike much of whats being bandied about |

I guess we would just be another company that got rolled over and said sorry mate GB plc has gone bust so we cant pay but we are starting up GB(PB) co and they are going to take over all the business of GB plc with new bankers and a streamlined system. I guess that would work? Be honest the only people who stand to make anything out of brexit are the wealthy landowners, money speculators and lawyers, and business will once again be run by the entitled wealthy. It really isnt the eighteenth century, and we dont have slaves, sugar, tobacco and tin pots to shift around the world anymore. We are running away from a huge market for what? Please tell me because i have heard such a lot of guff over the last few weeks about sovereignty, nationalism etc. Whats in it for you ormore importantly your family friends and neighbors?

There was a call in LBC where someone disputed this because the poor are protected by minimum payments such as universal credit and similar. Because they survive austerity when there’s no tax income.  |

That said, I am pretty sure the EU27 will get their money by imposing punitive tariffs on UK citizens and business.
The EU Imposing punitive tariffs on the UK as a kind of punishment would be illegal under WTO rules.
Would that be the same scenario if we fucked off without paying our bills?

None of the main parties regardless of which way they campaigned, give two shits about poor people.
What we do know is that poor people suffer more in times of economic hardship.
The rich will be just fine with Brexit. It’s normal people who will bear the brunt. |

Labour is lead by a Leaver who campaigned to Remain and now wants to Leave.
Labour says it is wishful thinking of Mrs May to think the EU will re-open the negotiations, yet Labour says it will negotiate a better deal.
Labour wants a General Election where it would campaign for Leave. If it cannot get an election, it will seek a referendum when it would campaign to Remain.

The current conundrum is entirely of Theresa May’s own making. As far as the EU is concerned, the deal has been negotiated and it is not their problem that it can’t go through Parliament.
As I understand, this situation only highlights the two big mistakes that May has made:
1) Triggering Article 50 before a plan with National consensus had been formulated.
2) Making the Brexit process a signature, one party policy which would always run the risk of being opposed by others. It should have been a National, Cross party coalition that was ring-fenced from day to day politics with the aim of getting consensus across all parties.
I think that the EU are just perplexed that the U.K. have just been so unprofessional in the way that this whole process has been managed on the U.K. side. |
