So, Spain says it will veto the deal unless they get their way over Gib and trade.... France now says it will pull the plug unless fishing rights are sorted, and on the domestic front the DUP have withdrawn support in the Commons leading to Labour now running the country from the Opposition benches... the sooner the plug is pulled on this disaster and we just walk away from Europe the better. |

The EU said they would look to punish Britain for daring to leave. They spelled it out clear as day, as soon as they said that we should have walked away from the table and told them it was no deal. |

But the fact is we can't do that without breaking the GFA.
No matter how many times an untruth is typed it will never turn into a fact, no matter how much you want it. |

2 words....'Maximum Facilitation'.
The ERG have already outlined how an invisible border can work in Ireland using the Max Fac method without breaking the Good Friday agreement. But of course you already know this because you've been told on other threads. And before you say the technology doesn't exist,....yes it does.
Number plate recognition technology already exists, it's used on the London congestion charge. Trusted trader schemes already exist and are used in other parts of the world. Global positioning systems already exist, smartphones and sat navs have them, most modern cars, van and lorries have GPS built in. Remote Parcel tracking systems already exist and are used by mail companies and businesses. A whole host of solutions have been put forward by the ERG for the border and members of the ERG like Ian Duncan Smith, Owen Patterson, and David Trimble met Theresa May in 10 Downing street yesterday to discuss exactly that. |

The EU, they don't want us to leave and have every intention of keeping us prisoners in a customs union. You really shouldn't be surprised when they're using the border as an excuse to stop Brexit (just as remainers in the UK are). We just need to be firm and tell them to kindly fuck off. We'll put the Max fac solutions in on our side of the border it's upto the EU if they want to reciprocate to avoid breaking the good Friday agreement on their side. |

From everything I can find online about max fac state it couldn't be ready and running until at least 2022 but it would need unanimous support & implementation anyway so we can't do that Centaur |

The sticking point is that the technology doesnt actually exist despite the ERG saying it does. They just keep spouting idiotic nonsense but cannot produce the goods. Theyve been saying it exists for months and have produced no evidence for it |

Bit like the 48 Conservative MPs. They may exist one day but they don't exist today.
If BREXITERS really thought these technologies existed, or would exist within two or three years, then they'd also believe that, in accordance to May's deal, the backstop would never come into effect. The fact that they think the backstop will come into effect really tells everyone how viable they really believe their technology solutions really are.
Yet another case of all mouth and no trousers from Mogg, ERG and Europhobe BREXITERS in general.

I'm kinda confused.
We SHOULD be doing whatever we can in the interests of the UK, surely that's a given?
Whilst we have certain financial responsibilities that we signed up to that we should at least partially honour, we shouldn't be used as the EU's piggybank.
There are some areas of mutual benefit with regards to things like security, crime etc that should be continued.
But, other than that, and given that the EU have blatantly tried to make it as difficult as possible, using this process to try and punish us, then we should just thumb our noses at them and walk away. |

Any one of the 27 member states can object, and refuse to ratify the agreement, meaning the deal will not be signed off, that in effect is a veto. |

Wrong.
That rule only applies to a FTA and not our withdrawal deal, the withdrawal deal simply requires a certain majority. |

No. The withdrawal agreement requires a simple majority in the European Parliament and a super-qualified majority in the Council, i.e 20 of the 27 members representing at least 60 per cent of the population.
The criteria for any future trade agreement is different. |

thanks for showing that you have a fundermental misunderstanding of why the ERG solution doesn't work...
its not the lorries/trucks/vans thats the issue (which is why when you talk about ANPR it makes me laugh) it whats is INSIDE those vehicles!
at the moment that doesn't need to be checked... if we left with no deal, it would need to be checked (do you remember that in another thread people were talking about customs agents and the lack of them at dover.... yeah them!!!) so that what is being declared is the same as what is actually being shipped... for tarriff and tax purposes!
so its all well and good you giving amazon for example as an example... you are for the most part talking about finished goods.... but lets say a manufacturer in the north is moving components to another manufacturer in the south.... 5000 nuts and 5000 bolts.... every single component in a manufacturing process, every piece of fruit, every piece of veg, all food going across the board for supermakets for example, then you are talking lifestock, everything bound for any business
unless you are going to microchip or barcode the shit out of everything.... and thats just if you get everything correct.... if what you declare and what you have microchipped/barcoded is wrong... than what? you going to send it back?
thats why people say the solution that the ERG are trying to push doesn't exist and hasn't been invented yet
and until it does exist.... you would under a no deal situation have to do the border checks.... |

Funny how Nigel Farage was seen in the German Embassy applying for German citizenship for his children...
He happily wants to end opportunities and the freedom of movement for uk citizens but his own children are a different matter..... |

Maybe because he's of German ancestry, his great great grandfather was an uneducated German immigrant to the UK.The very type of immigrant he loathes. |

An expert from Economists for Free Trade did the sums based on the BOOST in growth .if we secured financial and trading freedom against the impact of any no deal EU tariffs.
The result....calculated over 10 years, the EU economy will lose £507 billion, while Britians will gain by over £640 billion.
Now we know why the EU are so keen to keep us in.

A report by the CLECAT organisation, which covers 17,000 companies handling 80% of the freight and customs in Europe, who said " All the ingredients to ensure a smooth exit process of the UK from the EU, and which allow almost frictionless trade after the exit, are already available". |

"So, Spain says it will veto the deal unless they get their way over Gib and trade....
And why shouldn't it want to punish the UK? It wants to leave the union but still have the benifits from the union? It was like England threatening Scotland when it wanted to leave the union too. |

That's what gets me. We essentially voted to leave the EU because we don't want all those foreigners coming over here and telling us what to do, yet we expect the EU to be nice to us.
It's like hitting a man in the face, getting arrested and then complaining because he won't drop the charges. |

Witch foreigners are telling you what you must do in your Country? Do you mean foreigners from the EU? For example, me and my family (wife and two children)we respect all the rules, traditions and laws of this Country. I don't think that foreigners from the EU would tell you what to do in your country.

Ha, ha, yes I remember that, you can’t have this Scotland, you won’t get that, we’ll put troops on the border etc etc.
The British nationalists are behaving exactly the same way as the Scottish nationalists - we can have all the benefits of the union and none of the liabilities. Just as deluded. |

My MP has had courtesy to reply to my email imploring him at the expense of my precious vote not to vote down the PM's deal. Very much as expected it came back telling me he did not agree and that the only option he can vote for is not to vote for it.
Fair enough. Don't expect me to vote for you again matey. I recommend you lobby your MP too so that they at least know what their constituents are expecting them to do and know that their dogma could ultimately lead to them losing their nice cushy number if they live in a safe seat. |

He is telling you what he does not want. Did he tell you what u does want?
The whole thing is a bit of a puzzle with so many permutations.
He could reject this, and end up with something he likes even less. Or something he likes more. But one does not follow the other, and public dis-satisfaction with one outcome cannot be interpreted as satisfaction with an alternative. |

Sooner we pull the plug on this absolute disaster indeed, but not walk away that's just not possible . Pull the plug on the moronic idea of exit at all |

Interesting that you haven't responded to the thread specifically dedicated to your "independent" "experts" whom apparently nobody needs |

BREXITERS keen on leaving the EU with no deal have been told to try walking away without a deal in their personal transactions.
Tory MPs, Daily Telegraph writers and ordinary Leave voters have agreed to threaten shopkeepers, train conductors and energy providers with walking away deal-free, which they are certain will be brilliant.
Nathan Muir, from Birmingham, said: “The deal at Starbucks this morning was not in my interests, so I told them they needed me more than I needed them and left. Kept my money. Didn’t get a coffee though.
“It was much the same story at lunchtime at Subway, and at Pret, and at Greggs. The woman there said to me ‘You’re not our only customer,’ which I felt was rude like the EU but I was too hungry to argue.
“The bus driver wouldn’t even let me on. Even though I told him ultimately he would be hurting the viability of his bus if I walked away. ‘Go on then, fuck off,’ he said.
“So it’s 7pm, I’m still in the city centre, I’m starving, I don’t know how I’m going to get home but I’ve still got some pocket change. If this is some kind of a metaphor then I don’t get it.”
Passer-by Mary Fisher said: “Has he tried believing in himself? That’s meant to work.” |
