Politicians lie.

I remember when the Scottish Secretary Alastair Carmichael (Lib Dem) confessed to being the source of a leak designed to damage Nicola Sturgeon, after denying it repeatedly.

"My point is if you are suggesting that every MP who has never quite told the truth or indeed told a brazen lie - including ministers, including Cabinet ministers, including prime ministers - we would clear out the House of Commons very fast, I would suggest," said the Lib Dem MP Sir Malcolm Bruce.

Politicians lie.

Trump and his chums are just not very good at it - he keeps getting caught out.

Jim Acosta is a very rude person who works for a company who's been caught doing fake news hence why he gets so very upset with trump.

He's a fairly smart guy so I just don't understand why he falls into trumps rabbit holes every time.

The whole thing has been blown out of all proportion.

It's not about the slanging match that this thread is about - it's about the US government trying to manipulate the situation. Fake news is what it's about - they doctored a tape to suit their message. They accuse everyone else of it and here they are doing exactly the same!

It's not about the Costa/Trump having an argument - which showed both parties in a bad light.

Funny how those slagging Costa seem to have blinkered vision again with the pathetic attempt by the white house to spin the issue..

CNN denied that Jim Acosta had put his hand on the white House aide who tried to take the microphone from him. The White House released footage slowed down into slow motion to show he DID put his hand on the White House aide.

I can't believe even you are following that bullshit. In the live broadcast it's clear that Acosta's hand falls on her arm as she tries to grab the microphone from him. In the later released zoomed in, slowed down clip it looks like a deliberate strike. I believe what I know I saw with my own eyes in the live clip.

The president is better freezing out the gutter press and continuing to keep the people informed by releasing his comments on Twitter. It has been glaringly obvious from the get go that the msm don’t respect his leadership and want to bring him down. Perhaps he could release statements via a p2p interview with his own press officer, leaving the reporters to feed on the scraps. Let them reap what they have sown...

NO YOUR MISSING THE POINT - IT'S ABOUT FALSIFYING THE VIDEO. This is the US government stooping to FAKE NEWS - the very thing they moan (Trump moans) about on a daily basis.

Yes of course. Rather than have an independent body responsible for reporting what is going on, let’s just scrap it all and go full-on into dictator mode. Next he will be picking people up who criticise him.

Central

I think chronic Republican and Trump attempts at deception will pay dividends in the longer term for the Democrats and potentially democracy there overall. The American people are generally decent, honest and law abiding and a growth in distaste for such deceit will sweep the nation.

"Why is there such a correlation between brexiters and supporting trump?"

I think it's simple really. Politics is divided between left and right. Rather than listening to what any individual person, politician or party says people seem to have decided that they are either on the right or left and give their support to whatever says it's on the same side.

Trump claims to be of the right so those who think they are also of the right support him. It doesn't matter what he actually says or does.

Well the reporter did behave unprofessionally in that he completely ignored normal protocol for a press conference. Normal protocol dictates that reporters ask one or 2 questions then hand the microphone back for another reporter to ask the next question. Jim Acosta asked his question which Trump answered, he then asked another follow up question which again Trump answered then he refused to hand the microphone back. Taking the mic away from him was akin to taking a dummy away from a squealing baby. Then to top it off he was extremely rude and inconsiderate towards other reporters as the next reporter to get the mic asked his question Jim Acosta still continued to stand up and speak/shout over the other reporter. Acosta was rude, inconsiderate, immature and unprofessional and fully deserves to have his White House press pass suspended. If CNN had any sense they would also sack him for his appalling behaviour.

I agree that the spat was not what one should expect from two adults. However there are two sides to every story and should the president of the United States be afforded respect - Yes of course but has this president earned respect NO he hasn't! Sack the journalist could equally apply to sack the president!

actually if we are playing "the game" here... if you are going to charge acosta with assualt... since the intern initiated it all by trying to grab the mic and she actually touched him first... you could in theory charge her with battery.....

is that what people want? .......

look.... trumpy has been moody since last tuesday because for all the spin he is trying to give it... he knows he got thumped last tuesday, and is feeling the walls close in on him, and then his abusing of the three black women journalists, the displays of non attendence on saturday because "it was a bit wet" to one of the marines most hallowed sites plus his tweets about the californian wildfires has been own goal after own goal....

so just tell it like it is... he knows whats coming... its a matter of when not if, and if they are smart anyone charged close to him will be done in a state and not federal setting so daddy cant pardon them....

To be fair on both sides trump plays his role just as well as CNN play there's.

The only sheeple are you lot for thinking it means something!.

CNN practically elected Donald trump in all there decisions to get Hillary elected, they just can't believe he actually pulled it off and now are completely desperate to right the wrong while misdirecting any eyes that might think, hmmm you know what, I might be having my pants pulled down by the media, maybe trumps fake news chants have some value to them?.

CNN, MSNBC, CBS,FOX they all lie all the time, your being feed fake bullshit narratives all day long and have been since you were born and poor old Donny might just be the old crazy loon that breaks the camels back.

The right wingers cling on to caravan invasions and black crime, the centrists cling on to fake foreign wars and ousting "despots" and the left cling on to white supremacy and patriarchy conspiracy theories.

They don't pay "news" presenters 40 million dollars a year for nothing, it's a bullshit job that any Tom dick or Harriet could do, they get that money so they say what the person up stairs tells them to say and then shut the fuck up, Rachel maddow doesn't actually care about black people or immigrants and tucker Carlson couldn't care less about free speech or abortion rights, for 40 million a year they'll say whatever the person tells them to say.

Although I would add I do genuinely think don lemon is a crackpot.
