Republicans will keep the house and gain 6 in the Senate

I base this on the economy and the democrats over playing their hand in the Kavanaugh proceedings

The guilty until prove innocent does not go down well with moderate democrats / republicans or independents.

So if you are a betting man/woman there's great bets at the moment as fake polls are giving great odds. Florida is one to bet on.

What you say Fabio?

I don’t think we are going to get the “inevitable” Blue Wave as predicted.

Won’t all go the Republicans way either.

An interesting time for the world looking at the Brazil situation and the emergence of a new Right power base across Europe.

There is no blue wave and never was. It was just a way of trying to give republicans no hope. The polls are so fake it's unreal.

When is the Brazil election?

We haven’t finished the global swing to the right yet.

Things will get worse still before they get better.

Democrats to do the same or worse.

my god how many heads of the right wing folk do i live in rent free....

a) for the republicans to gain 6 in the senate they would have to hold everything they have... plus then gain north dakota, indiana, florida, missouri, west virginia plus one other....

not happening....

the republicans will take north dakota, the dems will hold everything else

the republican are also in dogfights to hold a few of theres... nevada (which they won't, that will go democrat).... arizona (which could now go either way), tennessee and texas (if the dems have a really good night they could flip, but that may be beyond them)

I actually think you could be looking at a 50-50 senate (which the republican would still hold as pence would have the deciding vote in ties)

as for the house..... the republicans were up 21 seats, there were 23 seats where clinton beat trump by more than 10 ... the dems will regain the house...

see if the economy was the biggest one factor, the republicans would have a chance... but trump always manages to step on that message whenever good news comes out....

the problem that the republicans have is that the biggest one issue in america is healthcare.....and the one thing they can't run away from is that for all the faults of the ACA (affordable care act) it covers people with pre existing condititons and in expands medicare coverage... the republicans are trying to take that away from people!

once it was given to people and they saw how it does help... they were always going to have a hard time taking it away without getting punished for doing that!

anyway more interested as a political honk this year at some of the governor races.... florida, georgia, maryland and montana to see how they do

Hey fabs..

When democrats don't win the house and lose heavily in the Senate what do you think CNN and the left will blame?

1. Russia

2. White Supremacists

3. Uneducated voters

4. #OrangeManBad

Or

6. ALL OF THE ABOVE?

Good morning happy people x

New NPR poll has Democrats up by 11 points on generic poll. They also have Gillum up in Florida. Some are even predicting that TEXAS is a close race.

LOL !!!

If anyone believes this they are in for a shock come Nov 6th. Florida is not an open borders / remove ICE / socialist / sanctuary state. And Cruz will win by 9 points in Texas.

I stand by my prediction

Republicans will gain 6 seats in the Senate And will retain the house as the Dems will not gain 23 NET seats.

Oh, and Jim Jordan for speaker of the house

CNN / MSNPC (and the wonderful BBC here in the UK) are going to lose their minds (again)

Let the meltdown commence.

Was it the Huffington Post that had Clinton around 98% chance of winning?

I don’t put much stock in Polls.

Be an interesting watch. I don’t think it’s a foregone conclusion for either side.

Yeah polls are far from reliable - some more than others - but I think the claim they're totally made up is pretty baseless.

I believe, that certainly in the UK, opinion polls are manipulated so as to reflect what the liberal politicians want to happen. I’m also quite sure the same applies to opinion polls in the US.

When you see remain leading the polls here and Hilary Clinton way ahead of Mr Trump in the US, you can almost hear the lovies crying when those polls are proven to be totally wrong.

There has been a backlash, people are sick of being led by the nose, by a mainstream media dominated by snooty liberals who believe that their opinions count more than the man/woman in the street. Ergo NSM says we are going to remain, we say we are leaving. In the US the NSM say Hilary is going to win, the American public say we are electing Donald Trump.

Global liberalism has had its day, thank the Gods. It might be that America, where the NSM has been bombarding the public with anti Trump propaganda for the whole of his tenure so far, might allow itself to be dragged back towards the Democrats. I hope not, the damage done by Obama et al has not yet been fully undone. Hopefully the current administration will stand firm and hold on, for the sake of America and the world as a whole.

Surely if Liberal politicians can manipulate opinion polls, they can manipulate elections as well. It makes absolutely no fucking sense for them to fake polls and then be honest about the rather more important actual election.

Think about it.

Why is it silly?

Did you not see the debate?

The referee of the debate brought up the topic for him to answer. He (the Republican candidate) was trying to deny it.

Add to that the fact that Floridians are pretty pissed off that their tax dollars are going towards protecting a president who flies down to his mansion in Florida, resulting in cuts in their budgets, I'd be pissed off too.

Have you seen his campaign ad? There are clips of him in the nursery helping to build a wall with his baby, and reading Trump stuff to his baby as a bedtime story. Playing that to a state where there's a high percentage of Latinos?

I swear this is the biggest, most glitziest suicide note ever written.

I'm not being silly, I'm being realistic. I know that Florida has been read for forever and a day. I'm not too sure that it will be after these elections.

They did at the last presidential election, you're right in mentioning that. However, there have been Trump voters who have themselves been targeted and deported. Trump had been mentioning Latinos, specifically Mexicans as rapists. Not exactly calling to Latinos to vote for his party.

I know you haven't asked about it but another reason why Florida may go blue is because of the recent hurricane. He's gone awfully quiet on that too.

Regardless of race, I'll bet the average Floridian would be fuming at that. I know I would. Playing yippy yah yay at the weekend in Florida, and then can't be arsed to support the state in their hour of need…

Shocking.

I can give you two reasons for a start

Hurricane Maria backlash... the president and fema have done a dismal job in the aftermath and many Puerto Ricans have relocated to Florida...

The parkland shooting aftermath where the republicans governor and senate really botched the response and calls for gun control measures

And besides.... do anyone watch the two debates between gillum and desantis... desantis was abysmal!

That’s why Florida Will go blue and that will help nelson beat Scott in the senate race...

If the Republican candidate is described as one who quite happily takes donations from the far right for his campaigns and is seen as someone who 'racists think he's a racist', then it's game on!

I never thought I would say this, but I think Florida could go blue...

Now that's just silly

You're theory just doesn't add up though. Trump said he was going to build a wall and called Mexicans criminals during his Presidential election campaign and still won Florida with many latinos voting for him there. Why do you think it would change now?

I can give you two reasons for a start

Hurricane Maria backlash... the president and fema have done a dismal job in the aftermath and many Puerto Ricans have relocated to Florida...

The parkland shooting aftermath where the republicans governor and senate really botched the response and calls for gun control measures

And besides.... do anyone watch the two debates between gillum and desantis... desantis was abysmal!

That’s why Florida Will go blue and that will help nelson beat Scott in the senate race..."

Anything you predict on here Fabio seems to be the kiss of death for the side you're backing. You're track record on here of predicting results incorrectly really is astounding!

Shocking."

...And the thing you seem to be ignoring is Trumps record on the economy. Latinos as well as other Americans living in Florida (and elsewhere) want to see the American economy doing well and Trump has delivered on that. Also Trumps tax cuts have helped many Latinos working in Florida keep more of their own hard earned money in their pay packets and have seen themselves better off as a result. I think that will be the issue which more likely swings it for Trump.

The election is not far away though and we shall soon see who is correct when the real votes are counted.

"I believe, that certainly in the UK, opinion polls are manipulated so as to reflect what the liberal politicians want to happen.

Hopefully the current administration will stand firm and hold on, for the sake of America and the world as a whole."

So it sounds like you don’t trust the things you hear or see, how do you feel about the situation, do you want to talk about it?

I’ve seen ‘MSM’ to refer to ‘mainstream media’, but never ‘NSM’. What does the N stand for?

It always cracked me up when Fox News pundits were taking digs at the MSM whilst seeming to completely ignore the fact that they *are* a part of the MSM.

It won’t make any difference, his supporters love his child-like way of speaking, and love it when he stirs up racial tension. And genuinely couldn’t give a fuck what he does and says.

Of course not all voters in America are going to like him, but the electoral college is set up to give Republicans a head start. So he just needs to mobilise the white male vote again by saying some more bullshit about Muslims and Mexicans. And he’ll be just fine.

You watch him ramp up the racism and bigotry over the next few weeks.

Please direct me in the direction to bet against this prediction. I could use a little extra in my pocket coming up to christmas

Republicans will hold the Senate because the maps brutal for Democrats. But republicans arent picking up 6 seats. Not even Republicans would say that.

But Democrats are going to take the House. Theres going to be a strong showing in the mid west as well for them.

Heitkamp is toast, shes gonna lose this one. But Nevada and Arizona could go Democrat. It would take a huge blue wave to get more than that, but getting it to 50-50 would be a huge achievement.

Democrats should easily pick up the seats necessary to take control of the House. And then the Democrats have the power to start any and all investigations they please, benghazis revenge

Go to William hill- they have all the house and Senate betting. You can't bet how many but just an overall. I bet for rep to take gain in Senate and for rep to retain house

The odds are not good for you as the Democrats are such favourites to win the house and now fav to knock out Desantis and Scott in Florida so if you could put on a good few quid you may get lucky.

So heres my bold predictions. So either be laughing on 6th or egg on face

So looking at Nate Silvers polling site 538 (the most trusted polling according to ABC and CNN) he has the Democrats to win the house by 86%

So for those into math - the republicans stand 14% chance. So the odds are great if you fancy a little bet.

I believe the polls are highly skewed and have been looking at the internals over the last month.

Here is a few of the so called major races in house ànd Senate that I have bet to WIN

Republicans to maintain house

Republicans to gain in Senate

Josh Hawley - Republican - Missouri Senate

Rick Scott - Republican - Florida Senate

Ron DeSantis - Republican - Florida

Ted Cruz - Republican - Texas Senate (by 7 to 9 points win)

Martha McSally - Republican - Arizona Senate

Patrick Morrisey - Republican - West Virginia Senate

An outsider who I really like is John James from Michigan. A very handsome , very charming black guy who has a solid background who I believe will one day run for President. I think he might be the shock candidate to win his race (He is behind -6 at the moment according to Nate)

The republicans will maintain the house as Dems will not take 23 NET seats and I stick to my 6 gains in the Senate

if the republicans win north dakota... and missouri (since they are up 3 in the latest polling.... and the democrats win nevada (up 9) and Arizona (up 6) then we basically hold patter at 51-49 in the senate..

after flint water crisis and the way that was handled no republican is going to win statewide in michigan (take that from a MSU alum)... there are not enough republicans in the western part of the state to make up for the crushing it he would get in the south-eastern corner and in lansing and surrounding area's

as for west virginia... manchin is too popular and the fact he was a former WV governor he will win that race going away (he's already up 10 on morrisey)

as for florida, gillum up 8 on desantis in the gov race... nelson up 4 on scott... and once again rick scott has to distance himself from trump on the 14th amendment issue

the interesting senate races are tennessee (reps up 3) where dem candidate bredesen is probably the one person who can keep this race close, and Texas (Reps up 5) where beto-main is up against the 2nd most hated politican in america , Ted Cruz...

that fact we are even talking about a dem within a sniff of a win in texas is news enough.... he'd really have to run up the score in the big cities (houston, dallas/fort worth, Austin and San Antonio) and pray he can hang on in the rural areas

at the moment the republicans are for the main playing defense....

I just cant see Beto winning. Every 4 years the Democrats talk about this being the year that Texas turns purple, but then hopes fade and its forgotten about. Betos run a good campaign and in a different state he'd be a shoe in. But if a likeable smart guy like Beto cant beat someone as disliked as Cruz then Texas is still a lost cause for a few more elections (barring any sudden shock to the system)

"So heres my bold predictions.

But if a likeable smart guy like Beto cant beat someone as disliked as Cruz then Texas is still a lost cause for a few more elections (barring any sudden shock to the system)"

We are not talking about beto taking Texas... the talking heads are.

To make it clear. Robert O'Rourke (aka beto) is not going to get nowhere near winning

This is pretty much the norm in Texas - the bluewave I keep hearing about looks at this point more like a runny turd.

Are you in favour of Donald Trump and the Republican Party?

On the matter of predicting the results, I think you’re right. The Americans aren’t ready to swing back to the middle. Trumps latest speech attacking immigrants has gone down well over there.

so for the sake of fairness... wanna tell everyone what "Ted's" actually name is?

basically... here is your "senate" primer for dummies going into tuesday:

1st.... the Republicans:

The Republicans will Flip: North Dakota

The Republicans will have had a good night if they Flip: Indiana, Missouri, Florida

The Republicans will have had a VERY good night if they flip: West Virginia, New Jersey

and.... the Democrats:

The Democrats will Flip: Nevada

The Democrats Will have had a good night if they Flip: Arizona

The Democrats will have had a VERY good night if they flip: Tennessee, Texas

the interesting thing about this years mid terms is this.... if it is healthcare, then the dems win!, if it is immigration, then the reps win!

the map this year helps the republicans as because the senate is 6 yrs terms, so the 1/3 of those contests this year happen to be more in places where trump won in 2016... so they aren't doing as much defending in places

the senate is being contested in "red" america.... so trump will likely hold the senate...

the house is being contested basically in the suburbs.... and thats where trump is going to get crushed.. so that is why the dems will win the house...

also this year look out for governor races... why? because with the census coming in 2020, these people will get to redraw the lines with regards to congressional districts going on for the next 10 years

there are places where republicans have governors where if dems do well it may be a look ahead to 2020...

at the moment there are 18 democratic governors and 33 republican governors....

so governor races to look out for...the ones that could flip to the dems:

Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Maine, New Mexico, Kansas, Iowa and Nevada

if the dems can get up to 23-24 governors... thats a good night! say.. 8 of those 12

That is chickening out. We can all say "if republicans have a good night then they will flip Nevada"

Put your reputation on the line.. man up.

I think dems will gain 10 - 15 in house but fall short this rep keep the house.

Republicans will gain 6 or more in the Senate

okay... if you want me to put my neck on the block...

i think the senate will likely stay as it is now 51-49 republican.. (I think the republicans will take north dakota and missouri, I think the dems will take Nevada and Arizona... although i think there is a chance its split 50-50 (if the dems hold missouri)

the house.... well i think the dems will end up with a majority of 15-20... (they could get all the flips they need by 8pm, the dems at the top at state tickets could drag a lot of their downtickets team mates over the line in a lot of places where there would not normally be battles)

example in point... you mentioned michigan in one of your early post, michigan will lose the govenors battle... and could do so badly it could put 5 house races in play for the dems to flip!

I wouldn't hold the polls to the results, most people will lie when asked if there'll vote trump but will go in that booth and then vote trump.

And until the democrats learn the lessons of Hillary and trump they won't get anywhere.

The main problem is the democrats are listening to FRINGE influence groups and not their mainstay target audience because it's these that abandoned them for Donald trump and they won't return in enough numbers until they start taking about the real issues and policies instead of Russia gate.

An awful lot of Democratic voters want the southern border wall, they want illegal immigration curtailed (that's one of the reasons Obama got relected) because he was deporting illegals at large rates.

Lots of them think Obama care does need amending, they want sensible gun reform but not banning but all they here is Obamacare is absolute and guns have to go.

The democrats are literally forcing large swathes into the arms of the republican party which has its own problems with trump and tea partiers.

If I was a betting man id wager no change in reality with swathes of the public lying because trump is seen as something you just can't mention

I'm really routing for John James of Michigan. He has it all. Handsome, energetic, served for his country in iraq, small business owner, family man, speaks very well. If he can turn this state it will be a fantastic achievement. Definately a future presidential candidate.

Regardless of this the Dems are going to get a right walloping. Get ready for some epic meltdowns on CNN, MS-NPC , ABC and the wonderful BBC

I went to John James’s website to see what he’s all about. He sounds horrendous. He says he is “pro Trumps agenda”, and say he’s pro life and pro guns.

No mention, that I could find, of climate change, environment (aside from preserving carp for leisure fishing), or anything good.

What do you see in this guy that’s good?

I’m guessing you’re an American? From the level of interest you have in the more granular details of the polling etc.

like i said... after the last republican governor and the republican legistlature in michigan dealt with the flint water crisis... there is no chance in hell any republican is going to win statewide office....

so the governor is going to go blue, the senate seat will remain blue (debbie stabenow is actually really popular in her own right) and up to five of the 9 congressional districts the republicans have could flip to the dems....

if we are all looking for out of the normal results....i'll give you a few you may not know about from each set!

look to the senate race in Tennessee, Phil bredesen is a former Tennessee governor and the one democrat in the state that could run a good game against a republican, and if he does win tomorrow we may all have to thank taylor swift

governor race.... look at Wisconsin, where the republican governor, scott walker, is in the fight of his life... and if he finally goes down the state will rejoice

Governor races in "big 10" country... at the moment most as red... look for Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa to all go blue

if you want a few congressional races, new york 11 - staten island, which is the one part of the city that is stauchly red,

kentucky 6 - georgia 6 and virginia 7 are also worth keeping an eye on....

I wonder if the Charlottesville district will return a red or blue, I think if it stays red then the GOP will be home free but if it goes blue then the GOP knives will be out for sharpening ready to carve the trumpster up before the Dems take control of the house.

James isnt going to win against Stabenow.

Whats your standard for a "walloping" anyway? Are you still predicting the Republicans will get to 57 senate seats?

I dont think either side will get to more than 52 seats in the Senate but they will take the House which is an interesting one for Trump.

Since every House seat is up for grabs and Trump has unusually made the midterms a referendum on himself (something most Presidents actively avoid) if the Democrats win despite the Republican efforts to depress the vote in Democratic areas and the gerrymandering in effect then it will be a stunning rebuke of Trumps policies. And I think the Democrats will easily net 25 seats today to regain control.

kentucky 6th is a prime example of why the democrats may win this year.. she is the perfect example of a candidate fitting the district she is wanting to represent, former air force fighter pilot, young ish... woman (obviously) she has been running of healthcare and wanting the medicare expansion money that the governor is not asking for.... fighting a district which is basically the lexington suburbs (which has the university of kentucky in it)

Actually it shows that "apathy " in politics can bite you on the bum. People did exercise their vote and although I am no expert like some on here, the fact that the Republicans don't control both houses, is going to result in some checks and balances in American politics and possibly the world!

Not for the overall result, but for the fact that the 2 politicians under incitement and awaiting trial both got elected because Republican Americans would rather vote for a crook than either vote for the 'other guy' or stay at home.

"What do you think of Beto O Rouke running Ted Cruz close in Texas?

If he had won, top pick for Democratic 2020 campaign? Is that still possible?"

O'Rourke lost, so why back a loser like him for 2020?

I think, overall, one would have to say that this was a quiet good night for Trump and not a bad night for the Democrats. On this form I would expect Trump to get a second term but not definitely.

If the economy keeps going well over the next 2 years then we can expect another 4 years of Trump to follow.

actually... there is some hope in there for a democrat...

its the upper midwest... wisconsin, michigan and pennsylvania all went back from red to blue...

it would only take those 3 to flip from trump and everything else stayed the same and your democrat wins....

the good thing now is that they can't gut the healthcare act any further... that wall is never being built... and it curbs trumps more extreme policies!

so what should the democratic house do... they now get to the do the oversight that republicans have refuse to do for the last two years... the corruption inside the administration (fro example pruitt at the EPA), Emoluments (to make sure he is not profiting from being president), investigations of how the administration acted in cases like hurricane maria ect....

don't go after trump personally, go after the things around him

also... design their own healthcare bill improving on the ACA (it will never get thru the senate , but they can say they tried to do something!) infrustructure bill!, climate change bill mandating they go back into the paris climate change agreement (again never passing but they can show they tried)

if they are smart about the way they go it they can show they are a workable opposition, rather than they just go after trump for his to play the victim in 2 years time....

Funny how you believe my post to partisan and anti right when it was not. Let me point out that their re-election makes no difference to the overall result of the election other than prove that partisan loyalties are more important to Americans than probity and regardless of political shade that does not bode well for any democracy.

he was adament that if he had won.. he would serve his entire 6 yr senate term (basically he really went after cruz running for president and spending more time in iowa for example than he spent in texas)

he could run.... he has a huge campaign budget now, but basically didn't have the campaign nouce.... maybe not for president, but i would like him to have another shot at the other texas senate seat (which is john cornyn, that would be a tougher battle) which is in 2020

i don't think you'd get anyone going up against him in a democratic primary

I've got a great sense of humour, I had a right good ole belly laugh when Trump won the Presidency in 2016. I also laughed last night when Ted Cruz beat O'Rourke. If this O'Rourke guy is the great Democrat hope for 2020 and can't even beat Cruz, then Trump has nothing to worry about in 2020.

Mixed night, House and Senate went as expected. Lifes going to be very hard for the Trump administration now that the Dems have oversight and subpoena power in the House.

As far as 2020 goes its still not looking good for Trump. Whether you like him or not he managed to thread the eye of the needle last time. He got 78,000 votes where it mattered and Hillary got 3 million where it didnt. And he was up against the worst candidate the Dems have put up in decades.

Urban and suburban areas are moving towards the Democrats leaving just the rural vote as GOP strongholds. But in saying that Democrats do have a Florida problem. Florida isnt essential but they should be looking to pull that back into the blue column. Luckily for the GOP Rick Scott ran for Senate and also pulled De Santis over the line. Scotts probably the most popular Republican in the state so that was the decider.

The GOP gained senate seats where theyre going to win in 2020 anyway, the Dems won seats in places they want to add in 2020. Overall things look good for the Dems.

Even though I'm to the right of centre I'm not a really big Trump fan.

For me his only advantage in 2016 is that he wasn't Hilary Clinton (who I despise)

Like it or not, for an incumbent president facing his first "mid term" he hasn't done too badly.

The Democrats really have to get their act together if they want to beat him in 2020.

They need someone with a new message, if they just turn up with the usual stuffed suit Washington insider then Trump will beat them again.

O'Rourke took the incumbent to within 2.5 points despite there being zero Democrat infrastructure in Texas, while taking zero corporate or PAC donations. He didn't need to unseat Rafael to 'win'.

Car crash press conference and Insults 2 journalists???? Were we watching the same press conference? I watched the whole thing live on sky news and it was an outstanding performance by Trump. The 2 journalists you refer to were extremely rude and behaved appallingly. Especially the CNN reporter who refused to let go of the microphone after asking his questions (protocol is you ask 1 or 2 questions and hand the microphone back, this CNN guy completely ignored normal protocol and virtually had to have the microphone physically wrestled away from him). On top of that these 2 morons interrupted and spoke over other journalists as they were trying to ask their questions, being completely disrespectful towards other journalists and reporters in the room. No one should be surprised that Trump gave them a piece of his mind and slapped them down for their appalling and unprofessional behaviour.

I guess they realised that the only way to actually get anywhere with Trump is to lower themselves to his level. Shame, but how else would you deal with such an arsehole.

I was listening to a documentary about Obama the other night, and it was such a breath of fresh air hearing him speak. Trump is just so toxic in everything that comes out of his mouth. I mean, what was they whole "to bad" crap talking about those senators that lost out to GOP?

They have now suspended Acosta's White House pass for manhandling the intern. Anyone with half a brain knows that he didnt touch her. Trump and his shower of fuckwits like Huckerbee-Sanders, demean themselves and the office of President with their antics. I understand that you think this sort of buffoonery is ok, but really, this is POTUS, and he should know better. This constant fake news crap may fool the dim, the daft and the dangerous, but anyone with more than 2 functioning brain cells can see through this charade.

Here is an interesting statistic, Senate popular vote (so far confirmed):

Votes cast for Republicans 31,490,026

Votes cast for Democrats 40,558,262

Republicans pick up 3 seats...

And that's what surprises me. Trump knows what's coming, and alienating the press isn't going to do him any favours.

That Press Conference just showed the world that he doesn't believe in free speech. Every President gets awkward questions but it's how you handle them that shows what kind of person you are.

The only buffoonery on display was from those 2 reporters. The CNN muppet Fully deserves to have his White House pass suspended for his appalling behaviour.

Who had their free speech taken away? No one from what I saw. I did see 2 reporters in particular behaving in an appalling and unprofessional manner and speaking over other people and ignoring normal protocol by refusing to hand the microphone back after asking questions.

"Women did well.

Two Muslim women were elected to the US Congress for the first time ever.

Trump will like that, he loves Muslims

One of them a Somali refugee the other the daughter of a Palestinian immigrant . "

Was she the one who said

Jews are evil? Or isreal is evil and Allah should show the world how evil isreal is? - I'm sure it was words to that effect.

Or am I thinking of another person? I may have it wrong here but I rememver seeing a quote like that somewhere?

Do you see any irony in a Trump supporter taking offence at someone saying something inappropriate?

The first sentence is a relatively reasonable statement. And the second part would be better for me personally if they hadn’t invoked a fictional character. But I agree with the sentiment.

I was chatting to my friend in Florida yesterday (she's very progressive) and was saying that a lot of the democrats there are very disapointed with the midterms. They were desperate to win some more in the Senate so impeachment could happen. She then said "and in 2 years when trump probably wins he will have probably have a bigger majority"

I must admit that the left are not as happy as I thought they would be as they really wanted to impeach him.

So I looked at a few past midterms and found this

Reagan lost 27 house seats after winning  presidency 1980

Clinton lost 54 house seats and 8 Senate seats after winning  presidency 2002

Obama lost 63 house seats and 6 Senate seats  after winning  presidency 2008

All 3 went on to win the presidency 2 years later.

So In terms or that the republicans had a dam good mid term.

It's always the way in mid-term elections. If the economy is doing well, the incumbent does well. If the economy is bad, the opposition gain.

sort of.......

the numbers also look great because after the 2010 midterms the republicans did a fantastic job of redrawing the congressional districts with the 2010 census..... (you may have heard of the term "gerrymandering") to give republicans an inherant advantage....

so the way the lines are draw at the moment, the democrats need an inherant vote advantage of plus 7ish to get close to having even seats (this time the vote was close to plus 8-9...)

this is why these midterms are important... especially when it came to governors races

with the next census coming in 2020... these governors head up the committees to redraw the districts, or have veto power over them.... (or in the case of michigan for example, they actually voted to have an independent commission redraw them)

case in point.... pensylvania, they redrew their districts for this election (the pennsylvania supreme court wrote them after they threw out the pennsylvania republican parties version for excess gerrymandering)

the supreme court result, they redrew the lines so there would be 10 republican leaning district and 8 democratic leaning districts

the actual result... went from 12-6 republicans with their draw map... to 9-9 under the redrawn maps....

thats why the redrawn maps may be the 2nd biggest thing to come out of this election.....

if you want a fair comparison of what has happened so far...

in the 8 yrs of obama, at national and state level the democrats lost about 1,000 members of nation and state legistlatures....

in the 2 yrs of trump.... the republicans have lost about 450

She and John Leach opposed it because the definitions of terrorism were too broad and the worry was that insurance companies would deny a range of claims outside of what we'd all consider terrorism. Considering some insurance companies have had a policy (illegal) to deny valid claims just to try and disuade people from claiming theyre right to be worried.

And that's what surprises me. Trump knows what's coming, and alienating the press isn't going to do him any favours.

That Press Conference just showed the world that he doesn't believe in free speech. Every President gets awkward questions but it's how you handle them that shows what kind of person you are."

i watched the disgraceful video that shows an un-named female physically attack a reporter in an attempt to wrestle the microphone he was holding away from him. this utterly repugnant attack on the the constitutional right, under the first amendment, to free speech was brazenly committed in full view of the worlds cameras. Another video showing the secret services, under strict orders from the president himself, confiscating personal documents from the same reporter, has also come to light. This disgusting and violent attack on free speech just shows the vile hypocrisy of the right and the horrifically nauseating lengths they will go to to prevent peoples freedom to report the truth.

case in point.... pensylvania, they redrew their districts for this election (the pennsylvania supreme court wrote them after they threw out the pennsylvania republican parties version for excess gerrymandering)

the supreme court result, they redrew the lines so there would be 10 republican leaning district and 8 democratic leaning districts

the actual result... went from 12-6 republicans with their draw map... to 9-9 under the redrawn maps....

thats why the redrawn maps may be the 2nd biggest thing to come out of this election.....

if you want a fair comparison of what has happened so far...

in the 8 yrs of obama, at national and state level the democrats lost about 1,000 members of nation and state legistlatures....

in the 2 yrs of trump.... the republicans have lost about 450

Hey Fabio

Did you hear Nancy's speech??

It was literally a trump speech

She realises as a democrat she needs to pull pull the left back a little to the middle. The 200 million dollar socialist experiment of Gillum beta and Kristin failed.

She even said "drain the swamp"

Lol"

the one thing nancy is... is smart...

she knows that is the democrats go "gun ho" on trump like the republicans went "gun ho" on clinton... they will pay the price at the next election!

I am sure they will be smart about what they go after... like i said, corruption in the administration (there is plenty enough of that to investigate) committee to make sure that trump or any of his business aren't profiteering from being president (emoluments), then you have your pick of topics... the separation of the kids and adults under trumps zero tolerance policy... the way they bungled the aftermath to hurricane maria ect....

they don't have to get at trump (leave that to mueller) they just have to chip at everything around trump, and if every person in the administration doesn't already have a lawyer.. nows the time to get one!

they will get the things they want... the infrusture bill! (finally)... the lowering of prescription cost (by getting the HHS sec to do it and allowing medicare and the VA to do it as giant entities like the nhs does!)

and they can do it without giving an inch on healthcare (in fact, like i said up top, put there own version of a healthcare bill thru the house and then dare the republican led senate to block, or the president to veto it! that makes for great ammo for 2020)..... or a single dollar towards a border wall

see... you call gullam a socialist... thats an easy thing to throw row out... so lets look at the difference between gilliam and desantis

gillam wanted expanded medicare coverage.... desantis didn't

gillam believes in climate change and wanted to protect florida... desantis doesn't

gillam wanted some gun control after parkland.... desantis doesn't...

i know... stuff we have here.. would you call the NHS socialist? would you call the paris climate change agreement socialist? would you some element of gun control socialist?

"I was chatting to my friend in Florida yesterday (she's very progressive) and was saying that a lot of the democrats there are very disapointed with the midterms.

The numbers for Trump were actually really good for Trump when looking back at historical mid term elections

sort of.......

the numbers also look great because after the 2010 midterms the republicans did a fantastic job of redrawing the congressional districts with the 2010 census.....

So Republicans have lost 450 elected officials since Trump tookover.

12 million more people votes Democrat over Republican candidates in Senate elections.

Democrats are currently leading House votes by 7% (places like California arent finished counting).

And Trump has a 52% disapproval rating.

Numbers like that dont bode well for Trumps reelection.

I was surprised to read that the first Native American woman was elected to congress. That's been a long time coming...

there will actually be two.... one representing a district in new mexico, another representing a district in kansas

but it shows what a good job this time round the democrats did of finding candidates....
