Right, so the home office told this Phillipino heart specialist, who had been specially recruited to come to the UK to pack his bags and fuck off within 24 hours:

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/heart-doctor-and-nurse-wife-given-24-hours-to-leave-uk-after-child-benefits-blunder/ar-BBNQsDV?ocid=sf

Why? Because he accidentally claimed child tax credit for his British born child after being told he could by HMRC. As soon as found out that he couldn't he paid it back. But the UK were still trying to deport him.

In the end, looks like he got a last minute reprieve

:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-dorset-45735853

The only reason they were allowed to stay in the end was because enough public pressure was put on the home office to reconsider.

What. A. Fucking. Joke.

Why the hell would anyone want to come to this country after that? Oh, don't worry, we'll issue visa to 'highly skilled' people. Yeah.

This is the kind of crap we'll get more of with Brexit. Fan-fucking-tastic.

These sort of mistakes have happened for years, way before brexit was even mentioned and I doubt very much he was told to F off as you put it! Fortunately the situation was sorted out and despite what you say there will be plenty of skilled people willing to come to this country. Why do you always over dramatise everything to try and get extra effect!

It would be nice to see you post a thread with some positivity in it as you seem to be lacking it in your life!

Yes, not quite so dramatic as the OP makes out but an example of how too rigid the visa system is at times.

The Home Office were quite right in their assumption that this man had broken his visa stipulations. Mistakes do happen and this turned out to be one on each side of the argument. Once the man's employers got involved and had alerted the Home Office, then the situation was quickly resolved. One of the problems is the apparent rigidity of the HO in applying the rules.

The man's wife is also a qualified nurse and Poole Hospital are lucky to have them both working for them.

I watched on chanel4 last night that a Dr who's been here over decade was told to fuck off .

A popular, highly qualified doctor in east Surrey who’s lived here for 16 years is now facing deportation after her application for indefinite leave to remain was refused

Sad times .

Well the new visa system is going to class everyone earning under £50k as low skilled! How many on here would be in the low end?

Sweep it under the carpet nothing to see here is the standard response from brexiters.Same response from the right with the wind rush scandal.

Agree 100% it's always happened - but at what stage should this be unacceptable? Total incompetence which doesn't inspire confidence in government (whichever party) after brexit! We often screw large projects up - especially HMRC and as now the Home Office! Accountability is required!

Yes, I'm sure these things happened before Brexit too. You seem to have decided to miss my point. And he has been trying to get this sorted for months, and in the end was only sorted by public pressure. Not because, you know, the government might actually be competent or anything.

Theresa May was responsible for introducing harsh treatment of immigrants, with people like the Grenfell families losing homes, jobs and being reported, often to die in deprivation and isolation. Amber Rudd was going to make things worse, to keep her happy. With sociopaths like that driving a system, it's no wonder that the system is inherently broken.

UK citizens will shortly be required to obtain visas for many more countries, so let's hope that fairer treatment is given to them.

The Grenfell families lost their homes because the tower block was destroyed in a fire!

Am no fan of May or her tenure as home sec but the issues with Grenfell as someone who worked in the service that attended are not solely down to her or her Government, the seeds of that negligence started in 05 under Labour sadly and continued till the disaster..

Grenfell families lost their homes because they modified the building - the cheapest possible way they could which compromised the buildings safety. That's a fact - not political but factual!

I actually think this has far more to do with the "hostile environment" rather than BREXIT. However if EU citizens are now also going to exposed to this environment we can expect to see even more cases of "mistakes" in the future.

But the cladding was meant to be safe. It had the correct certifications. It's unreasonable to expect the council to have known that the certifications were not genuine.

Actually I saw a programme on this very subject! The building was safe when it was originally built and had the fire regs as per that time. The cladding and insulation were done on a simulated basis - based originally on some other cladding and "transported " to the current cladding. It was all hypothetical and all "desktop". I am no expert but the cladding, insulation and building were never tested (together) as to how it would react! Whilst I agree the council cannot be experts but someone, somewhere has got to be accountable! The fire regs are so inadequate and need revamping.

The tone was set by Mrs May when she was Home Secretary.

There is an infamous speech on the floor of the House of Commons when she declared the policy to be "deport first, appeal later".

That will have played out in the perfomance measures set for staff in the Home Office agencies.

So cases like these are no accident, but a consequence of political leadership.

Mrs May and her chums were desperate to stave off the threat of UKIP to the party's power.

I agree that someone must be held to account but we have to make sure that those we finally hold to account are those that were truly at fault and not just those who for political advantage it would be convenient to be held accountable.

The fact that immigrants are disposable since brexit and a hostile environment towards foreigners or anyone who isn't Caucasian is a direct result of brexit . No it’s not

"Right, so the home office told this Phillipino heart specialist, who had been specially recruited to come to the UK to pack his bags and fuck off within 24 hours:

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/heart-doctor-and-nurse-wife-given-24-hours-to-leave-uk-after-child-benefits-blunder/ar-BBNQsDV?ocid=sf

-Matt

These sort of mistakes have happened for years, way before brexit was even mentioned and I doubt very much he was told to F off as you put it! Fortunately the situation was sorted out and despite what you say there will be plenty of skilled people willing to come to this country. Why do you always over dramatise everything to try and get extra effect!

It would be nice to see you post a thread with some positivity in it as you seem to be lacking it in your life!

Yes, I'm sure these things happened before Brexit too. You seem to have decided to miss my point. And he has been trying to get this sorted for months, and in the end was only sorted by public pressure. Not because, you know, the government might actually be competent or anything.

-Matt"

I didn't miss your point, it was just another excuse for you to post another moaning/whinging thread that you so love!

Heathrowish

We already have a visa system....it will just be extended post Brexit.

OP....do you know that post Brexit, it is likely that all of the oceans around Britain will dry up, everyone who reaches the age of 30 has to undergo Carousel and the ozone layer above the UK only will disappear?

Citing an individual problem which is now sorted will not advance the cause of remain to us neutrals....and may have exactly the opposite effect to the one you wish for.

Or perhaps you are a secret Brexiteer who advances Remain arguments in such a way to push people into the Mogg/Johnson/Farage camp....?

I assume your on Teesside .

In the 2016-17 financial year, 631 incidents were recorded by Cleveland Police, where someone was abused or attacked due to their race.

That is a 34% increase on the previous year, when 471 cases were recorded.

Inspector Phil Morris from the Cleveland Police Communities and Partnerships Team said: “Significant national events clearly can play a part in such a rise, but it has long been believed that hate crime is under reported both locally and nationally and Cleveland Police actively encourages victims to report incidents to us.

So it's safe to assume a 34% increase is only the tip of the iceberg.

Did the papers not publish this report .I found it in the gazette .

A town near you

It's quite common for mix ups like the ones highlighted here on this thread to happen.

It happens in most countries due to reshuffles in offices or misinterpretations of legislation/documents etc

Btw not a brexiteer or a remainer just an independant observer!

The quote says that its under reported and they have been encouraging people to report , you also have the massive cuts to the police and other public services that has seen all crime on the up . My friends are probably around 50/50 stay / leave and not a single one of them is a racist .

" I watched on chanel4 last night that a Dr who's been here over decade was told to fuck off .

A popular, highly qualified doctor in east Surrey who’s lived here for 16 years is now facing deportation after her application for indefinite leave to remain was refused

Sad times .

Things like this happen all of the time and have done it way before brexit!

It’s just at the moment it’s highlighted by what is going on at the moment

"

So true monkey our immigration system was a mess long before Brexit
