Mervyn King has said today he thinks brexit is distracting from the bigger issues we should be facing up to ... problems brexit won't, in itself, solve.
If you agree, what should we be debating. My bug bear is a lack of long term planning ... we’re creaking as it is.... we can’t support the next generation of oaps who will have less wealth and more bills ... it’s about time we start weening people off the idea retirement is in your sixties unless you’ve saved for your self. |

Been using my time off laid up sorting out my savings into various plans and also contemplating another buy to let for this very reason. People scoffed at me for paying so much into my pension when I was younger.
As Bob says you need to plan now gone are the days of thinking the state will prop up your lifestyle.
Being laid up after hospital treatment though makes me hope I will be around to see it. |

The problem with Government in general, and Conservative ones in particular, is they cannot see past the horizon of the next election. Everything is focussed on the short-term retention of power. |

You can't plan for things out of your control! Example being women in their 50's have their pensions delayed by 6 years! Government decision that's saved billions - average loss for each female is around £40,000! |

Just read an article in the independent that a new poll shows 59% remain 41% leave!!!!!
It's changed mainly because this who didn't bother to vote in the referendum (7m), now would hence the swing. Too little too late perhaps but they may have learned a lesson? Apathy is the enemy! They only have themselves to blame! |
