In the USA Trump's long time lawyer has pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations made under direction of the "candidate". He's also said he's happy to cooperate with the justice department investigation into Russian collusion. Impeachment moves closer as a result.
In the UK momentum gathers behind a second referendum with polls of 15K people (over 7 times as many as the more recent Deltapoll survey) showing that over 100 constituencies have now switched to remain.

There is only one (or two) problem(s) with that.
The politicians who are in charge will not change course until forced to by the electorate and by the time that happens the damage will be done because both sides of the pond those in charge are determined to hold out as long as possible and force as much through as they can in the time they have burning all bridges as they go regardless of the cost to their respective countries. |

Both voted for by the people. Is the will of the people being subverted by a small rich group looking to profit? In the early 40’s hitlers lawyer went to Italy to discuss the fascist domination of Europe how assets, commodities and poor people would be moved around to suit them. After they failed that lawyer became the first president of the eu. Do you think his morals and ideas changed a great deal? You can see what a foul bunch they are now. I’m a socialist Europe has been nothing to do with helping ordinary people. |

Is this Halstein ? I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything about him being this close to hitler. I know he has links to groups associated with the Nazis, but nothing so strong as you say .... |

Not so in the case of the USA. Trump lost the popular vote by some 3 MILLION and the GOP has lost 7 of the last 8 presidential elections and the same is true for house and senate seats. The fact is that every time the GOP gains complete control of a state (that is hold both governorship and legislative majority the first thing they do is gerrymander the federal and state district borders all but locking out the possibility of the Democrats regaining power. The problem is so great that the Democrats need to poll in the region of 10 to 15 MILLION more votes than the GOP to take control of the House, Senate and Presidency according to an article I read based on a Harvard study last year. |

Errrrr Brexit was funded and paid for by a small group of ultra rich elites to gain more control over the people and to squeeze even more from us plebs. |

The president won’t be impeached at the moment for a few reasons....
To even start proceedings the democrats would need to have the majority in the house... they don’t at the moment and no republicans are going to vote on it
The dems would be smart to not even talk about it until after the midterm elections... because the republicans will use it as a rallying cry for their base to come out and vote... the dems wants their base to come out (which it will) and trumps base to stay home |

But surely those in the highest office in countries around the world should be of utmost good faith? Whilst I know it's not the case, but some countries had the moral high ground. What sort of world will we become if our leaders sink to the bottom? |

They should not impeach him at all.
Nothing has to be done. The people he surrounds himself with reveal his character. Corruption is running rampant.
If he really does start to pardon his friends for tax evasion of millions the push-back will be huge.
The budget deficit is balooning and Republicans are talking about cutting medicare.
Yet the GOP is still hugging him close... |

If there a no deal on Brexit should there be a second referendum to go or stay in the EU? Because it seem they cannot agree on anything yet if there a no deal it going to cost the people on the street more to live and work it seem if if the have credit cards where the interest are set to get higher if there a no deal even when you buy thing online it will take longer to get it than going to the shop for it. Sorry to say this to those who voted yes it would be good to have a other referendum let us see who changed there mind. |

You've got it all wrong fella or you are deliberately trying to mislead people.
The NHS won't run out of medicine, the army won't be policing the streets and there won't be food shortages. All of that nonsense was just pie in the sky remain scaremongering.
Your credit card and bank card will still work the same in the UK without any extra charge, it'll only be if you use it in the EU outside of the UK you may be charged more or if buying from the EU online. Logical step is don't buy from the EU online and buy British instead where possible. If holidaying you can get around it by getting your Euros before you leave the UK so it's no biggie. |

You may be right where Trump is concerned. I think it is much more likely that one of his base decides he is a RooSian spy and either blows him up or shoots him before he can be impeached than he survive the process and gets to climb into Marine 1 and fly off into the sunset.
As for brexit I expect your totally correct. The question is if it goes badly wrong how vengeful will the British population be? Remember we still have laws that stop a Catholic from becoming Monarch because of things that happened 330 years ago +. |

On Trump, funny how he was only just today talking about his own impeachment today. Odd he thinks it necessary to defend himself if there's no chance it can happen don't you think?
On Brexit, did you see any of the guidance documents today? I'm sure some folks won't pay much notice but there's going to be an awful lot of people across all sectors having to wade through these, and those yet to come, for work. It'll be like a drip, drip, drip of doubt.

Centy baby, can I ask where you suggest we purchase chemotherapy drugs from if we go to WTO rules, or or the trade deal with the EU has tariffs?
I mean we cannot up production here due to financial constraints.
And we import about 60%, 80% of that percentile coming from the EU.
Blurting out what farage says on 'this morning' isn't smart. |

From my brief skim we seem to have :
* some increased costs/issue under a pure no deal but with the Hope tactics deals can smooth them over
* some increased costs which are likely to persist unless we get a bigger deal
* extra admin and oversight around nuclear and organic which we are unlikely to avoid even with a bigger deal as we are exiting some organisations and so will need our own.
My concern with all this is the last bullet is it doesn’t seem to be something solved by any deal, yet doesn’t seem to have been really looked at until now.... and won’t be easy to set up. |

I think what we are seeing is the beginning of the end of a nation's global domination!
The US is going through the same realisation the the UK did many years ago. Sterling was the world currency, we were the "Policeman" of the world. Just look at all the "pink" countries on an old atlas depicting the "empire" like the Greeks, Romans, Ottoman and British empires the U.S. is beginning to falter. So who will take its place? The Europeans are beginning to realise the the U.S. is not to be relied on anymore. The Russians have learned new warfare and the Chinese are not going to backdown. Trump will cause a military conflict - probably against China but maybe N Korea as Kim ain't playing ball. |

The so called People's vote campaign doesn't seem to be going down very well in the North of England. After Labour MP Barry Gardiner came out and said he didn't want a 2nd referendum last week he has now been joined by ex Labour MP, and mayor of Manchester Andy Burnham who slammed remainers who are trying to force a 2nd vote as "arrogant". Burnham said over the bank holiday that calls for a 2nd referendum further inflames resentment of Northern voters and entrenches the idea of an "arrogant political class which isn't listening". |

Why don't you just link directly to the newspaper you're quoting from.
Do you really want to just list the names of people who do and do not support this or that as if it's meaningful? |

It's a quote from Manchester mayor Andy Burnham, lol, not a newspaper. Burnham said it, the newspapers didn't make it up. |

"The so called People's vote campaign doesn't seem to be going down very well in the North of England.

I didn't say you made it up. I said just give us the paper you quoted or paraphrased from.
You never come up with your own opinions. If you did you could argue both sides.
It's quicker to just find out which publication is feeding you today. |

I'll post what I like within the forum rules. Thanks all the same. If you don't like it, frankly tough shit. My own opinion is there shouldn't be a 2nd referendum, the people were asked in 2016 and chose leave. Remainers seem to be under the illusion that all the Labour party secretly want a 2nd referendum. The opinions from the likes of Barry Gardiner and Andy Burnham need to be highlighted to dispell that myth. |

You appear to be having difficulty reading again. Bless. Once again It's a quote from Andy Burnham, not a newspaper. Andy Burnham said it, newspapers didn't make those quotes up, those words came out of Andy Burnham's mouth. Sorry must be very painful for you to hear that remainers like Gardiner and Burnham don't want a 2nd referendum. |

I saw it on the telly.
The Burnham interview.
Described the "metropolitan elite" calling for another vote as being so out of touch with the mood on the ground.
I agree.
The only referenda I can see on the horizon is:
a) Scottish independence
b) In 10/15 years from now, a party makes a move to rejoin the EU and includes a referendum in its manifesto.

Again, I didn't say that you made anything up. The clue was in the words. I am well aware of what Andy Burnham said.
What I said was that it would be better if you sent us straight to the source of your opinion and see what you missed out about the secret plot against Jeremy Corbyn to call for a second vote
Nobody really says "slams" do they?
"Andy Burnham slams ‘arrogant’ Labour figures fighting for second referendum"

Funny that a recent YouGov poll of 1,000 people in the north east found that 54% support a second referendum in a no deal scenario.
And again, you fail to understand that democracy isn't static. If we have a second vote then the result trumps the first one. Period. |

Careful, EasyUk will be along in a moment to tell you, you couldn't have seen it on the telly. You must have read about it in a newspaper because he 'knows' (apparently)
People can't get quotes directly from watching Burnham on the telly, or on YouTube, in EasyUK's world the quotes must come from the Sun newspaper, lol. |

Of course "people" can, but you tend not to like constructing your own sentences...or thoughts |

You might be right though.
What we are likely to get is a very bad deal but not the extra bad no deal option.
Leavers will blame everyone else for not delivering the impossible.
Then we go back after a couple of wasted decades on worse terms than we left.
Alternatively we become a US satellite. |
