Phew! Lucky escape for Treezoh, as she can now look Statespersonlike and walk away from it all due to Electoral Law having been broken 11 times by Vote Leave. Done and dusted. Yay! We have to act when Electoral Law's been broken, right??? |

I guess people have rapidly forgotten the years of discontent at how the EU was being run that brought about the referendum in the first place then? |

Unfortunately, the EU isn't any better after they tried passing Article 13, though UK is trying to enforce more restrictions on social media....
Can we vote that dog off BGT to be PM? |

No one is saying it's perfect: but the vote for change is invalid. I would grumpily accept the same result if it followed a legal referendum, but not the carcrash of the last one. Legal action needs to take place. |

Hahaha, you remainers are so funny, remind me of Liverpool supporters, constantly claiming its about to be your time and you were robbed anyway, blah, blah, blah.
If there is ever another labour government I will blame it on millennials being inadequately educated in economics and common sense and demand a loss of voting rights. As well as Scottish devolution, voila, all fixed. |

No! Remainers will never ever EVER just meekly sit back and quietly accept the Stupidity that is Brexit!
We will be worse of for years before we could catch up again. Sod that!
So all you Leavers saying just give and make the best of it, NEVER!
And if we can't prevent our country from regressing to a medieval minded little England mentality then once we have left the EU the next stage is to start the campaign to rejoin it. This will not end in March'19. Get ready for YEARS of resistance. Bollox to all the Britain First crap. People first! |

It’s like telling someone on death row. Stop whinging and look to the future, move forward.

As a glass half full person and someone who voted remain - it's quite clear that we are leaving. It depends on what the final deal is, but let's see what the outcome actually is. Only then we will be in a position to see if it's good or bad. Time will tell. |

I think many brexiters now realise the brexit they thought they would get is without doubt not happening . There is no hope left to prevent the soft and mostly pointless brexit. If they can't oust TM by October and throw the country into more chaos and uncertainty all is lost for the brexiter and their impossible dream. |

No. It is not a game. It affects real people's lives. Maybe now you see why "get over it, you lost" is seen as such a puerile response. Maybe it is finally dawning on leavers that their "bury our heads in the sand, and maybe those nasty remoaners might shut up, and we can live in a land of unicorns and blue passports." tactic is no substitute for 'a plan'.

What's important is the exit arrangement, as it determines how much difficulty there is, if it's accepted, as well as the future financial impact.
The fraud and other illegal activities by the vote leave team should incur significant penalties, including prison and prevention of ever being involved in government. These people were not demonstrating what it is to be British in the slightest |

Very misleading and inaccurate thread title as Brexit clearly IS happening.
Also electoral law has been broken many times in the past during general elections and none of those general election results were declared null and void.
As for vote leave breaking electoral law, then why have the electoral commission not done an equally thorough investigation into the remain campaign when there are clear concerns about the remain campaign cheating on spending limits.

1. The title is ironic.
2. I'm glad you agree it is a completely invalidated episode.
3. Therefore heads need to roll, possibly on both sides.
4. Ideally the title will become fact, not irony.
5. I love it when everyone's on the same page. |

The whole thing has been a clusterfuck.
Politicians cheat. Yeah, tell me something I didn't know.
Wouldn't it be great if we could just wipe the slate clean and move on?
Too much rancour and bitterness out there for that.
A more consensual leadership might have found a way to heal that divide.
But it seems the country is still being held hostage by the civil war in the Tory Party.
A country going nowhere but backwards at the moment.

Didn’t the electoral commission make a statement on this. The issue is hosting of another campaigns video or something. They should investigate if something as serious as 10% of the max spend has been avoided. To investigate “just because” isn’t balance. What concerns have been raised ? |

That's puerile and only indicates a lack of knowledge of how this democracy works..
What you suggest is as stupid as saying to a losing tory voter in a constituency post a general election when an opposing political parties candidate won the seat 'shut the fuck up or move to an adjoining town' and accept the election but you can't campaign for the tory guy for the next election..
People have every right to peacefully try to amend something within the laws of the land, your talking despotism which is ironic given the screaming pre the referenda for our sovereign laws and judicial systems to be the way forward.. |

The 74 vote was campaigned against and obstructed at every given opportunity by people opposed to it hence we would never have had the 2016 referendum..
To say that those opposed to this one should shut up is not going to work.. |

I understand your logic plain and simple! The question is I wonder if the vote to join was 52/48% would it have been as it is today? The fact is it was arond 65/35% and no question about respecting the result. Had the referendum produced a significant majority for either side then there can be no argument! But it didn't, it divided the country and as the great brexit statesman himself once said "If it's 52/48% it's not over" - Nigel Farage! |

It only gets confusing when people like you deliberately mis-quote others. I thought you would have learned your lesson when Andrew Neil showed up the Open Britain's deceit and attempts to misquote Brexiters on the BBC Daily politics programme.
I can post a link to that little clip again of McGrory from Open Britain being shown up getting his ass handed to him on a plate by Andrew Neil if you like.
Liam Fox never said getting a deal with the EU "would be the easiest trade deal in history".
He actually said getting a deal with the EU "should be the easiest trade deal in history".
There is a clear difference between those 2 sentences and you have deliberately misquoted.
Liam Fox was of course correct it 'should' have been the easiest deal in history because the uk already has full alignment with the EU during negotiations and will do on Brexit day in March 2019. The EU have chosen to be intransigent and it's the EU's intransigence which is threatening a no deal scenario now.
Also as for Boris saying the real cost is more than £350 million a week, is also correct as official uk Treasury figures showed recently the UK's EU Membership fee increased last year from around £8.1 billion to £8.9 billion. Therefore the weekly amount quoted during the referendum in 2016 had increased last year in 2017. UK Treasury figures prove it.
The only thing Farage disagreed about was Vote Leave using Gross figures instead of the net figures on Membership fees. |

The treasury figure of £8.9bn proves it? £8.9bn divided by 52 weeks equals £171m per week, less than half what was claimed on the bus! Glad to see you finally agree that it has been proven the bus was a lie!

I read what you wrote, you didn't do the maths, and you made yourself look foolish. A figure (The one YOU gave) of £8.9bn does not in any way prove that the UK sent more than £300m a week to the UK, in fact quite the opposite. It proves that we didn't even send half that.
Like I said, Epic Fail. |

No dear. The £350 million is one topic over which there is some...er...confusion amongst leavers
If I see something advertised for £100 and I get a 10% discount then my bank balance absolutely does not go down by £100. Would saying so be deceitful?
To use your own weasely use of language; the headline uses neither the word "would" nor "should". Was Foxy implying that a deal would be complicated and difficult to reach? What's he saying now? Is he taking responsibility or blaming others?
Is a 52-48 referendum result unfinished business?
Should we get behind May as you urged us to before we heard a plan?
These are just the highlights Centaur. You know that they are. |

Brexit means a different Brexit to "Brexit means Brexit"?
You must admit that it is a little confusing
You are SUCH a politician
Yet you still only even attempt to respond to two of the points made.
Bless you for trying though.
The intention was to deceive. The result is a failure to deliver. The on-going strategy is to blame others.
Less politician, more Trump. Gets caught in a lid and simply doubles down

The treasury figure of £8.9bn proves it? £8.9bn divided by 52 weeks equals £171m per week, less than half what was claimed on the bus! Glad to see you finally agree that it has been proven the bus was a lie!
Epic fail centy. Epic.
Another remainer who can't tell the difference between the Gross figure we pay the EU versus the Net figure. 2 years after the referendum result and you still haven't got your head around it.
Nice try centy, but you make no mention of either net or gross in your post. We can clearly see what you typed, and you clearly ballsed it up!
No. You made an assumption about the figure and you assumed wrong. Glad to clear it up for you now though.
Again you're confusing the gross figure with the Net figure. You do realise if the Net figure increased that means the gross figure we pay also increased. So both figures increased last year. This means the figure quoted during the referendum in 2016 had increased in 2017 (so Boris was correct when he said we now pay more). Once again glad to clear it up for you. |

one could also say that they have just sat there agog that we don't yet have a scooby some two years after we voted to leave with time running out, the rules on this they look to be abiding by are the ones we helped to write..
That’s true also...but 2 wrongs don’t make a right on any level...

BREXIT is an opportunity, and one that was hard fought for. Unfortunately the politicians have fumbled there way through our exit process, through lack of conviction. They don’t care that a national referendum voted leave, they wanted remain to win and are doing their best to teach the majority a lesson.
Now we will still get to leave the EU, but if those twats in both houses of treason get their way, it will be in name only.
Civil war couldn’t come soon enough imo, while I can still get my boots on would be nice. |

The general trend was for right winger to vote leave.
Actually the majority of the citizens of these island didn’t vote leave.
27% of people eligible, didn’t vote.
37.5% of people eligible, voted leave
34.5% of people eligible, voted remain

Also as for Boris saying the real cost is more than £350 million a week, is also correct as official uk Treasury figures showed recently the UK's EU Membership fee increased last year from around £8.1 billion to £8.9 billion. The treasury figure of £8.9bn proves it? £8.9bn divided by 52 weeks equals £171m per week, less than half what was claimed on the bus! Glad to see you finally agree that it has been proven the bus was a lie!

That's always the pattern. Without fail.
Partially answer the part of the question that you can. Alternatively completely rephrase the question.
Divert by focusing on a word or phrase or very obscure detail to "win" a point.
When pressed to actually respond to what's asked get angry and accuse the original poster of making demands.
Finally, walk away in a huff without answering.
Does this not remind you of the entire negotiating "strategy" that we are witnessing? |

Our rebate is reduced from our EU contributions before we pay anything, that's why the £350 million a week was so easily contested & able to be proven wrong but that still didn't stop the Leave lies. |

Under-25s were more than twice as likely to vote Remain (71%) than Leave (29%). Among over-65s the picture is almost the exact opposite, as 64% of over-65s voted to Leave while only 36% voted to Remain. Among the other age groups, voters aged 24 to 49 narrowly opted for Remain (54%) over leave (46%) while 60% of voters between the ages of 50 and 64 went for Leave.
The older you are the more likely you were to vote Leave.
The younger you were the more likely to vote Remain and by a larger margin.
About 1 million people have died since the referendum of which 75% were over 69.
About 1.4 million voters have reached voting age.
The "overwhelming" vote to Leave as Centaur would have us believe was 1.3 million (3.8%).
Have a think about that.
Of course, that involves looking at the statistics, understanding what they mean and accepting what they tell you.
I expect very little.

Have we done this ? Okay, some people may have voted with limited information (on both sides) and some people may have researched and come to a different conclusion. But I don’t think the out vote has handed anything to anyone. Imo we should be focusing as much on keeping political discussion on a *civilised* level, otherwise we risk providing a platform for the more uncivilised types .... |

"Phew! Lucky escape for Treezoh, as she can now look Statespersonlike and walk away from it all due to Electoral Law having been broken 11 times by Vote Leave. Done and dusted. Yay! We have to act when Electoral Law's been broken, right???
Very misleading and inaccurate thread title as Brexit clearly IS happening.
Also electoral law has been broken many times in the past during general elections and none of those general election results were declared null and void.
As for vote leave breaking electoral law, then why have the electoral commission not done an equally thorough investigation into the remain campaign when there are clear concerns about the remain campaign cheating on spending limits.
Because remains cheating was state sponsored and supported by the govt."
What you mean is Leave didn't like the rules so thought it was OK to break them.
The argument that Leave did something illegal because Remain did something they didn't agree with is not a defence, it's an admission of guilt.
And if Remain also seriously broke the law during the campaign that doesn't validate the result at all; if anything it further invalidates it.

"I think many brexiters now realise the brexit they thought they would get is without doubt not happening . There is no hope left to prevent the soft and mostly pointless brexit. If they can't oust TM by October and throw the country into more chaos and uncertainty all is lost for the brexiter and their impossible dream. Grow up it is not a game
-MattYes and a good plan is to realise we are leaving and pull together to make it work, that is the best and only option really.Pity you and politions cannot se this simple fact"
And if any one on the BREXIT side would come up with a sensible and workable plan for leaving maybe some would. BREXITers have had two years now to come up with a plan for exiting the EU but all they seem able to come up with is ' just leave ' with absolutely no thought, research or care as to the consequences.
Give us a credible plan and and we might consider getting behind it. |

"Whether it happens or not, it just shows you what they ( EU officials) really think about the UK and how they’ve behaved thus far towards us...
one could also say that they have just sat there agog that we don't yet have a scooby some two years after we voted to leave with time running out, the rules on this they look to be abiding by are the ones we helped to write..
That’s true also...but 2 wrongs don’t make a right on any level...
not sure i would agree with the analogy, but its certainly a total shambles which given the stakes and prospects etc involved is bizarre..
Not expecting it either, it’s a complete fiasco which ever way you look it.. and yes the stakes are high.. for all of us.
Anyone can make a mistake but it takes a swivel eyed bunch of feckless Tories to flush this country down the shitter without an ounce of acknowdgement of the ridiculous toxic shit fountain brexit has become.Heads should roll. They will never be forgiven for their disgusting behaviour ."
The Conservative party is finished either way. If they deliver a hard, no deal BREXIT they will be held responsible by the electorate for economic disaster that will result. If they don't deliver BREXIT the BREXITers will not forgive them and, as it's estimated that 70% of Conservative supporters are BREXITers, they can't win without them. If they deliver some sort of soft compromise BREXIT it looks like they'll lose the support of most of both camps. |

Because Labour could do better? Labour are totally toxic now.
And can't you make any point without resorting to completely over the top emotive language and without swearing?
It makes you look like a knuckle dragger and it invalidates your points."
But when the Brown stuff hits the fan he is correct, the Conservative will not be forgiven.
BREXIT is the back door to a hard left Labour government. |

"BREXIT is an opportunity, and one that was hard fought for.
Civil war couldn’t come soon enough imo, while I can still get my boots on would be nice."

The majority of the citizens of these islands voted leave, and not all are “the right wing.”"
No they didn't. 27% of the citizens of these islands voted leave. That's not a majority. |

True but the constitutional figure is 37.44% voted to leave.
Nearly 28% of the electorate couldn't be bothered to vote. How do you feel about them? |

"No!
I'm not willing to hand my country over to a load of swivel eyed loons who care so little about this country that they can't even be bothered to research the likely results of what they're suggesting.

I agree, but you can see the entrenched views here.
Brexit seems to me to be primarily an emotional decision. In a democratic country, on political terms, this is no more or less valid than making decisions logically. Regardless of this their still appears to be a need to advance a logical argument in favour of Leave that just doesn't stand up. This forum would be much quieter if that pretence was dropped.
There are, however, practical implications to implementing what has been demanded. These are proving to be intractable. It is not a lack of political will, it is a very real understanding in government of the consequences.
Perhaps there is a conspiracy by the "elite". Despite, or because of, their own selfish political motivation they do not actually want to see people's get worse or the country in chaos. Government has to deal with the reality not the theory. The long post-referendum debate is giving people a far clearer idea of the consequences than the sound-bites and "debates".
People vote for many concepts and ideas but if any of them have a negative impact on their daily lives they are quickly reconsidered.
This is demonstrated by the fact that in asking specific questions in this forum it is apparent that two years after the vote much is being researched for the first time. There is also a deep rooted reluctance to even consider the other side of the argument.
All of the language being used even by Leavers indicates that Brexit is not going to deliver on its promises. There is a shift to talking about staying strong and seeing it through and there being some unspecified reward at the end of an unspecified period of difficulty. Immigrants are no longer to blame for the country's problems, it is remainers both now and in the future. The EU also remains a bogeyman yet the UK as a nation has not done anything to bring any difficulties upon itself.
From what I can see, at root, we have a problem with taking responsibility for the consequences of our own actions.
Even now, there is a huge consumer credit bubble growing. The trinkets being bought will have to be paid for, but I bet you it will be the banks blamed for lending irresponsibly again, not us for borrowing irresponsibly. |

I feel that it's a person's democratic right to vote for what they believe or not vote at all if they're not sure or even if they just couldn't give a shit.
But my point is is that when people say the majority of the British People voted for BREXIT they are not correct, only 27% of the British People voted for BREXIT.

Easier for some to blame sometimes totally mistakenly with whom or what than to look at the actuality..
Politicians like parasites have for thousands of years exploited and cultured the inability with some as it makes them easier to manipulate.. |

Exactly. This is why the Tories were/are so pro euro. Moving power away from the people. Right up their alley... |

We elect our MEP's to the European Parliament - there is an election next May!(but we won't have any ).
We don't elect the commissioners they are selected by each sovereign state's government. We elect our government and they select our commissioner and given the shit which has happened in recent times they are bloody wise not to let "the people " vote them in! |
