It's being reported today that UKIP and leave campaign funder Arron Banks paid £65,000 into the private bank account of Lesotho government minister, and also paid for campaign rallies costing £350,000. He also met the Russian ambassador 11 times.
Is this the kind of man you want influencing British politics?

"It was just a campaign donation...that happened to be paid into a private bank account...in another country "
Which apparently is illegal. The South African justice department is setting up a criminal file and collating information for future action.

"Doesn't seem to be much condemnation from the Kippers. "
Why did megabucks Banks meet the Russian ambassador 11 times before the referendum?
What did they have in common to talk about? |

Yes, he is an international businessman. But why did he meet the Russian ambassador 11 times before the referendum? |

Well some people do, some people like Banks think that he is rich so the rules don't apply to him. People like you enable him to get away with him. You obviously don't believe in the rule of law, whereas I see it as a cornerstone of a functioning democracy. The law should only apply to some people. |

The back story here, is that Banks paid/bribed the Minister in Lesotho, in order to get a licence to open a diamond mine.
The mine has now closed, having found just six diamonds in the few years it was open.
A rubbish and costly investment! |

Tweeted by David Bannerman MEP of the Conservative Party:
"It is about time we brought the Treason Act (of 1372) up to date and made it apply to those seeking to destroy or undermine the British state. That means extreme jihadis. it also means those undermining the UK through extreme EU loyalty."
I'd suggest this is extremism - far-right extremism straying into fascist tendency.
Imagine who could fall into this trap - republicans in northern Ireland, nationalists in Scotland, the editor of the European newspaper, Catholics . . . the list is endless.
Echoes, too, of Spain, where "rebellion" and "sedition" are used to crush democracy.
Perhaps Banks and their chums will be shown also to have committed treason by conspiring with foreign power against the policy of the UK Government.

Corbyn was attacked for removing the example of saying someone loves Israel more then their country from examples of anti Semitism.
And now it seems being *too* pro EU is treason.
I’m not sure what my point is tho. Feels like there’s a contradiction somewhere. |
