What do you think the world *will* look like, and how do you *want* the world to look in 2218 and 2518, so in 200 yrs time and in 500 yrs time?

Will there still be nation states fighting each other either directly or through proxies?

Will their be superstates like all of the EU member states joining together?

Will there be a world government who governs us all?

Costa Blanca Spain...

Bit behind the times with that one.

Zaeger and Evans did it in the 60's.

Hot and wet and mostly dead. The anthropecene will almost be over in 500 years. The oceans would have long ago been deoxygenated and be devoid of life. The mega fauna would have gone extinct centuries earlier and what's left of humanity will tell stories in caves of flying machines and a great civilisation in the long long ago in the time before.

I don't think the world will *make it* to either of those dates because Donald is bound to push his "big button" a few times in the next few years and destroy everything, while he escapes and lives in space with his family (he ordered the military to make the US have "space dominance" yesterday).

What I would want (and wish) is for him to move himself and his family into space *now* and spare us all.

A town near you

Perhaps Jesus will return and all will be good in the world, perhaps an asteroid or something will obliterate us or better still aliens will arrive and show us the way

We'll either be extinct or AI will run the world. No need for nations or religion, all hail the Minds!

Yes but as long as GDP keeps growing we’ll all be ok

I think that's possible and we could go extinct but our last and greatest invention may well travel the stars and run the universe.

There's a great short story by Asimov called the"last question " in which the last sentient beings are AI.

We'll be campaigning for a referendum to leave the Greater Russian Federation.

"OP, what do you think?"

Well my sci-fi preference is for utopian futures rather than dystopian futures. I would prefer a star trek like world government at peace, than a 1984 like 3 superstates at constant war. But that is more what I would like to see.

In regards to what I think might happen, then I am more pessimistic.

Yup, I wasn't around and listening to music in the 60s.

It seems funny how so many Brexiters talk about a European super state in other threads, but no one thinks that it will actually occur.

I am very very sure it will never happen, they might try to create one as they are doing but that will destroy the EU,it is a tower of babel
