Do you agree with Trump that he has the right to pardon himself for colluding with the Russians?

Wouldn't he need to be convicted first, in order to be pardoned?

His lawyers also claim as President he cant conspire against himself nor can congress impeach him and that as President he can order all law enforcement to halt any investigation including ones into the President.

Next he will be claiming he has the right to suspend elections and the constitution.

Well the yanks selected a serial fraudster and organised crime front-man for money launderer, so they now get to find out how hard it is to winkle out gangsters when they find a way into public life.

He likes to pardon.

Last week Kim Kardashian West visited the White House to discuss criminal justice reform with Trump and lobby him for the release of Alice Marie Johnson, a black great-grandmother who was jailed for life without parole in 1997 .

After his meeting with Kim, President Trump decided to ignore her and instead pardon a right-wing troll Dinesh D’Souza, a far-right conspiracy theorist who is known for saying things like ‘Obama is a gay Muslim,’ ‘Black people are thugs,’ ‘The Charlottesville rally was staged.’

Is this roughly when he makes himself "chancellor for life"?

just until he ironically gets whacked by some of these 'good guys with guns' that he keeps waffling on about

He is not above the law but is beyond parody for his narcissistic need to big himself up, wanting to be viewed as omnipotent. He'll repeat this BS and it does spark suspicion that there is wrong doing that he is aware of.

Latest out of Juliana...

If Trump shot Comey dead on 5th Avenue he could not be prosecuted because the sitting President cannot prosecuted regardless of what law they break.

Now all America stand up and salute your new Leader (that Fuhrer in the German language). o/ o/ o/

Nope.

The US constitution says that no one can serve as their own judge and this is part of what formed the decision in the 70's that said that Nixon was unable to pardon himself. Nixon resigned 4 days later.

Pardons also dont have to wait till a guilty verdict, you can be pardoned in advance but accepting a pardon can only be done if you accept you are guilty which is why Donny hasnt even attempted it yet.

Pardons are also only done at the federal level by the president so if he was charged under state law it is the governer who would be able to grant a pardon in this case. Good luck getting the Democratic governer (who's eyeing a 2020 presidential bid) to pardon Donny if hes charged and/or convicted in New York.

A pardon also would not free him from any impeachment proceedings. If he pardoned himself it would mean he accepts he's guilty and that would put huge pressure on Congress to pardon an admitted offender.

Also his actions as candidate could still be seen as conspiracy against the United States (treason) regardless of what happened later when he won the election.

So trump can shoot anyone dead.

The fact Trump mentions a pardon indicates his mindset which is personal survival at all costs. The net is closing in and most of those involved will flip on him rather than do serious time in prison so he is also sending a message to others that if they keep quiet he will dig them out later. Problem is they, like him, are dishonest cowards who know only about self preservation. Trump has no shame but has shamed a once great nation. The world is watching and so will be future generations. The only pardon you will hear from Trump is after every question Mueller puts to him !

in theory to receive a pardon meant that person person has admitted the offence..... so it would be an admission of guilt

i want him to do it... because i think the next day he would be impeached... so he isn't that crazy!!!!

Belpre

I'm a firm believer that trump is guilty, of many many things. It's a fact that Russian influence through social media swayed the election in his favor. Russian interference reached more people than actually voted in the election. In a fair election, he wouldn't have won. As far as Mr. Mueller's investigations, I hope he gets serious convictions on these dirtbags, including trump and his grown children that are no better than he is. If he tries to pardon himself, it's an admission of guilt, and impeachment proceedings would likely start, or at least should, but if he is impeached, his vice president, which would become president to finish the term, would most likely pardon trump, and his grown children, if they get a conviction against them.

Nixon was impeached, and then his vice president, Gerald Ford, pardoned the dirtbag.

Huge corporations and banks with hundreds of billions of dollars to blow have way too much influence on our elections to ever really hope to see real change for the betterment of everyone. Heck, trumps new tax reform was specifically designed to help the wealthy, the more you are worth or make, the more you get to keep. Trump alone will save between 1.5 and 2 billion dollars of his assets to leave his "Poor" children. He doesn't really care about anyone, including our men and women in the military. He got out of being drafted several times, because he grew up with a gold spoon in his mouth, besides he doesn't have the guts to be in a real fight. I sure wouldn't want him beside me in battle, of course that would never happen, because he is a true coward in my eyes, and a liabiliy to everyone around him.
