2 Italian companies control the bulk of specs worldwide and are merging. How do you see the position for those needing specs after Brexit?

Depends if Italy stay in the EU themselves, wouldn't you say? With events in Italy over the last week there are huge question marks over Italy's membership of both the Euro and the EU.

Pretty sure the Chinese would soon knock us some up although the Italians would be glad of the cash so hardly likely not to sell us some anyway!

The joining together of these 2 companies is somewhat troubling, when you look at who owns them, their near total control of the global glasses market and business practices. With the UK likely to find increasing costs for imports in the near future, it raises the prospects for this engorged business to result in glasses that will have much higher prices in the UK.

Just one European supplier that ensnares the opticians that you know. There are likely more supply chains like this in order industries.

It's not two Italian companies.

Italian eyewear designer Luxottica is to merge with French lens maker Essilor.

Even with my £1 reading glasses I could see that

A faux pas

I admit to my mistakes. I've been researching a lot of Italian and other European business news.

Sorry for the confusion - the position the UK is potentially the same, wherever the merged companies originated from through Europe.
