I'm sure all the labour supporters will be rushing to congratulate MP John Mann who initially explosed Mr Livingstones anti-Semitic conspriacy theories that poison the labour party. Obviously it would have been better if Mr Corbyn had done it, but at least John Mann has some balls. |

He was allowed his opinion and he aired them. That's part of freedom of spoech.
The flip side is peoples' freedom to criticise, investigate, apply rules and laws, and the person has to accept this. |

It's a shame because he really wasn't entirely awful as Mayor of London. He called bullshit on the Metronet deal like 8 years before it went clusterfuck. Unfortunately, he's been hanging around with one too many consipracy theorists. |

Funny thing is it is a documented historical fact that The Jews in Palestine and the British government of the day refused to save European Jews from the gas chambers when they knew exactly what was going on. But I guess that is not as important as smearing the Labour party with labels that truly belong to the Tories.

I did not say it is the Tories fault, just that they have yet again successfully deflected attention away from themselves by accusing Labour of being what they are. The problem is Labour are yet again attempting to curry favour with the right wing media by attacking its most egalitarian voices. I think we may be approaching another 'militant' moment where the Labour movement yet again sells itself out to Tory enterists rather than kicking them out and offering real change.

Again it is funny how it is always about the Labour Party. Always the same mantra:
Dont look at us look at the, look at them! And who leads the charge? Why I give you the Daily Mail, the most ultra right wing rag there is, still spewing the same garbage as it was 80/85 years ago when it was supporting Mosley and Hitler and 'saving' us all from a Labour government that would hand the country to the reds while the Tory government of the day was gutting the armed forces and allowing Germany to rearm and annex whatever parts of Europe it wanted.
So here we are again listening to the same banshee screams from the right and watching history repeat itself, and when it all goes wrong we will hear the same voices claiming that there was no way to tell and even if it could have been foreseen its not their fault its all the fault of the left. Like the US banks defrauding the world was the fault of Labour. |

Yes, because he was referring to documented historical records. Now his references to those records may have been crass and offensive, but that does not change the documented facts. In fact many would say that because of the offensive nature of the record it should be publicised all the more rather than made to go away in order to whitewash history.
But hey, I'm sure many here will now be labelling me an anti-Semite, after all it's an easy way to justify ignoring everything I have to say. |

He wasn't *just* doing that though. He wasn't saying 'hey have you heard of the Haavara Agreement'. He was implying that said agreement meant that Hitler supported a Jewish state (rather than just wanting Jews out of Germany), which is an interpretation that it is not hard to find questionable.

John Mann is a relentless little tool who picks and chooses when he opposes racism. He will call out Labour MPs of the left at all costs as it plays into his game. I'd have respect for him if I'd ever seen him on any of the pickets or protests against genuinely dangerous anti-semites in groups like the EDL, NF and FLA, but I've never seen him on a single one, and I've been on loads of them demos. Where is his concern for the rampantly Islamophobic statements that regularly come from certain MPs?
Don't get me wrong, if there are antisemitic views in Labour members then there is no excuse and they should not be there, but the truth is that amongst members of the Conservative and Labour parties, in polling, the prevelance of antisemitic views was actually higher in the Tories, but both were below that of UKIP.
The truth is that Ken Livingstone did say some things that were clearly wrong and could cause offence. Do I think he's antisemitic, no. Do I think he's a racist, no. Was he incorrect in what he said, yes.
When John Mann will hound Livingstone, who we know has a long long history of anti-racism, but then is quiet on Boris Johnson when he has continually used derogatory language throughout his career, you know what the real game is.
The reason people like Ken Livingstone have been hounded out is precisely because of his history of supporting the oppressed, supporting groups like the anti-nazi league, opposing racism and his support for Palestine and criticism of the brutality of the Israeli state.
So yes, he was wrong in how he analysed history, but is he a racist, no.
It comes to something when the media can persuade the public that two of the most consistent anti-racist politicians for decades (in Corbyn and Livingstone) can be portrayed as the ones with an issue, yet the Tories, who are in bed with the racist, homophobic, Islamophobic DUP get off scott free. |

Even worse. He was actually saying that when Hitler came to power, his policy was to simply and nicely deport the Jews to a place they'd be happier. Then he "went mad" and things got out of hand. There's no evidence he went "mad" and if you read Mein Kampf then it's clear he had more than just deportations on his mind to answer "the Jewish question". Ultimately 60,000 - 12,000 jews managed to get out of Germany to Israel, it was a pretty one sided deal that cost them all their wealth and benefited the Nazi regime financially, it wasn't some kind of benevolent act by Hitler. He then murdered around 99x more Jews so to paint deportation as Hitler's policy is pretty pathetic. |
