I was listening to a podcast today about Trump's legal authority to launch nukes, one person summed it up as by the time a state-on-state nuclear war has started, with the accompanying nuclear Armageddon, there will nobody left to challenge the legality of it. Even if there we're, what sanction could they impose? Likewise, the leave campaign were happy to overspend, because who is gonna do anything about it? Are they gonna annul the result? Unlikely, so fuck it, they did what ever it took to win, over spending, lying, micro targeting, they didn't care. |

"There are no excuses for breaking election rules. It doesn't change the result but it's not acceptable on either/any side. "
Say you are a Labour voter, a Tory candidate won while over spending on campaigning, you'd be happy not to have a rerun.

Correct but if he was found to have broken the law then when he was jailed there would need to be another election. If the policies are unchanged then my vote would also not change. |

I was about to say, you won’t find the answer in my profile.
I’m aware that Brexit is real. Mushrooms, grown men who wear shorts and Donald Trump are all real, too, it doesn’t mean I have to like them or think that they’re right. |

One story that hasn't gone away is where the £400k spent by the DUP on UK mainland advertising came from.
Every so often you come across a suggestion that this, and other money spent on the leave campaign, started out as roubles.

It should mean that senior politicians like Boris and Gove are prevented having any involvement in politics for life.
For one of the most significant changes in the UKs over the last century, everything should have been watertight. This should have included having a plan produced by your government too. |

Boris tweeting that it was all raised and square..
The man who when mayor invented a well paid position on the fire authority to have a Labour Councillor jump ship to give the tories the majority on that authority even when he knew she was about to be suspended for financial wrong doings..
Hollow words from the blustering one perhaps..

were they the lies written on the bus policies or the vile Nazi inspired poster by Farage type 'policies'..
look at what Dominic Cummings said about what the leave strategy was based on, lies and fear and he has stated that without such lies as the 350 on the bus which they knew was bollocks they would not have won..
policies..
the recent undercover footage by CA is what the campaign was about and its right to say there were lies told on both sides but more leavers were taken in by such..
the gullible majority.. |

All parties lie and all parties cheat!!
It’s all a play on words just like someone already said the government spent 9 million on that pamphlet before the the actual canvassing started |

Over spending (& lying about it) is bad enough but even worse is ‘outing’ Shahmir Sanni by Stephen Parkinson & Dominic Cummings. Especially given Shahmir is of Pakistani origin and his family didn’t know. This was a despicable act and I am gobsmacked that May has given Parkinson her vote of confidence! He should be fired. |

It was a malicious hateful act and the fact that May thinks it's ok shows the level of depravation she will plunge. A Despicable act. |

Anyone requiring more detailed information could have enquired during the campaign.
I can remember completing the form. I sat at my kitchen table took into account three important factors and cast my vote. Probably not any different to the other 35 million who cast a vote. |

There have already been TWO investigations into this by the electoral commission. They found no evidence of wrongdoing.
Is this latest thing just another example of sour grapes? |

"I bet the vast majority of voters either had never heard of the Customs Union or had no idea what it was and what it meant to be in it or not."
It was well publicised by both sides. It was in the government leaflet. It was spoken about on many debates...pros and cons.
It is the agreement that ALL EU states should apply the same tariffs etc on goods from countries outside of the EU and prevents individual countries from making bi-lateral trade deals. (Or at least for those countries that stuck to the rules) |

That's a big supposition - and it seemingly is wrong, as there were likely several breaches of electoral law as well as criminal wrongdoing. Potentially those senior politicians were complicit in these criminal activities. If they weren't, they have been outed as incredibly negligent as well as stupid. |

I was casually listening in, until he mentioned the under-capitalising of entities acting as an "investor" in order to breach campaign finance rules.
That is a very, very serious accusation and if true I can't see any other option for a full Parliamentary enquiry and who knows where that may lead.

The fact that it looks like 2 difference leave groups were funnelling money between each other but looks like they had the same staff and were reportedly reporting to each other smells rotten
Also the allegation that banks used his own insurance firm to collate information to then give that to be used on the campaign has to be some breach of personal data rules |

"I bet the vast majority of voters either had never heard of the Customs Union or had no idea what it was and what it meant to be in it or not."
Well half the leavers' line has been "anyone has access to the single market". Whilst the other half of them were saying that either we could stay in the customs union or we would get identical terms.
That is deliberately misleading and deceitful. Implying that similar sounding things with very different technical meanings are the same.
This is where the CA data is used. Whispering to individuals the part of the story they want to here. A bespoke mix of blaming immigrants or hugging them. Being in the customs union or out. Accepting some EU laws or none. At some point the contradictions have to be resolved... |

We're now getting new breaking news and data, that don't look good for the leave propriety. Further up, there's information about some current claims, such as two groups that claimed to be separate, each with their own funding allowance, that seemingly were the same group / management etc.
They also used to data firms, like CA, who would then manipulate voters, based upon their stolen highly personal information. |

The “moving of money” from one group to another is exactly what was already investigated.

I'll tell you what stinks....its how Cameron and Osborne basically used the powers of government and UK taxpayers cash (remember the £9 million taxpayer funded pro EU government leaflet that was sent to every house in the uk) to campaign for Remain before the deadline on spending limits came into force.
Was this fair?
Was this in the spirit of a free and fair referendum where both sides had equal opportunity?
You could say that Remain had an extra £9 million cash from that UK taxpayer funded leaflet, also Cameron and Osborne put Remain propaganda on official government websites during that time.
Where is your (and other remainers) faux outrage over this???
Cameron and Osborne may have operated within the rules or bent the rules to suit but these tactics were underhanded and deeply unfair.
Not in the spirit of what we expect in a free and fair democracy.

None of it made a blind bit of difference everyone I know had their minds made up either way a long time before any referendum. And I don't for one second think leave did anything that remain didnt. What about the anti Brexit government leaflet? That was hardly fair. |

Leave were the side that appears to have broken spending rules and thus the law of the UK. The politicians responsible should be punished to the severest possible extent, losing their politicians' pensions, salaries as well as not being allowed to serve again. |

We may disagree on whether the government was acting fairly or not in putting forward its position on EU membership before the campaign started but, if the leave campaign did break spending limits during the campaign, there can be no discussion or disagreement that that would have been illegal. The only question left for discussion, if they did break the law, is what should be done about it. Doing nothing is not a viable option.
If it turns out that the leave campaign did break the law then the question has to asked is 'is it possible that the illegal spending could have persuaded enough people to move from either remain or abstention to leave to the extent that it might possibly have caused a different result from what might have happened otherwise?' If the answer to that question is 'yes' then the result could be void.
If leave's defence is that remain also broke the rules that would be a poor defence as, if remain did also break the rules too, that would not excuse the leave breach nor lesson the consequence of the leave breach but simply add to the invalidity of the whole process and further add to the possibility of the whole referendum being declared invalid and the result void.
'They did it first' or 'They did it as well' is never a good defence as it's pretty much admitting your own guilt before it's actually been proven. |

Cheating is cheating no matter which side did it - no excuse and therefore all those involved should be stripped of office and banned for life from politics!
There has got to be standards, high standards at that. We cannot have a corrupt system - otherwise we are no better than the banana republics which we criticize and look down on in the third world and us, who gave democracy to the world. ..... |
