Nicola Sturgeon? Never heard of her
I'm not surprised she topped the polls - she influenced more Scots to vote Conservative in a General Election than Maggie Thatcher & Theresa May could!

An interesting point rarely mentioned - when was the last time so many of the top positions in UK public life were filled by women?
Head of state - female
UK Prime minister - female
Scottish First Minister - female
NI First Minister - ?
There was a time quite recently, too, when three of the four party leaders in Scotland were all women.

Looks like she is leading the poll with 23100 votes with the queen second.
Well done Nicola !!!! do we think she will win the poll of the UKs most influential woman.
Personally I don't think so, wouldn't be my choice anyway. |

I voted for her. She deserves credit because she influenced more Scots to vote Tory at the last general election and she is a fashion icon.
If only she could give the Prime Minister some fashion advice.
Alex Salmond tried it with Mhairi Black so why doesn't Nicola do it with Theresa?

Clearly you have difficulty reading. The people who are discussing the vote are all voting multiple times and advising each other how to do it. There was also an article in The National basically telling people to vote. Seems like a small hardcore of nats wasting their time as usual. But it's not a cult apparently... |

I'm saying only nationalists are sad enough to try to nobble such an irrelevant poll and see it as some sort of victory. The fact they're all over social media telling each other how to do it and you've come onto a swingers site all chuffed that someone got 39k votes (probably from 10k people) is an indication of where the crazy end of the nationalist scale is right now. It's not about converting people to try to win an indy vote (that isn't happening anyway), it's about getting the equivalent of a very small town to vote for a poll on Rupert Murdoch's Sky

"Yeah like no yoon has ever tried to swing a poll on trying to stop a new independence referendum lmao "
I voted for her (just once) for one reason - she deserves credit for making so many Scots vote Tory at the last general election.
I'm sure even Kinky would agree that is a remarkable achievement.
Raise your glasses of Scotch Whisky (made with some English ingredients) or Irn Bru (made in Nottingham) to the most influential woman in the UK (if not the whole world)...

It's actually pretty incredible just how much the Tory vote increased in the last election and that is almost solely down to the SNP. |

I think she retained the moral high ground, actually, by highlighting the trolling abuse she received and for that, she had to repeat the words that had been used.
The language she used wasn't gratuitous, it was statement of a catalogue of what she'd been called and if you think that kind of homophobic and misogynistic trolling is acceptable, I'm afraid I cannot agree. |

Did you read or hear the debate where the c word was used? Hansard 7th March, 'Misogyny as a Hate Crime'.
Every derogatory word you can think of has been used to her, based on being a woman and I'm guessing, lesbian. These words had to be said in her speech, to describe the diatribe of abuse she has received, otherwise no one would realise the extreme language she has been targeted with, which is appalling. They are NOT used out of context but I think that the press coverage has been, if that is the belief. |

Let's get one thing straight here, it's not just women and poor old SNP MSPs who get abuse on Twitter. It's all parties members and men, just ask Murdo Fraser
As for Mhairi Black needing a kick in the cunt, I'm sure there's more than a few male MPs who have been told they also need a kick in the cunt or boot in the stones etc
It's just feminism taking over demanding more female privilege |

Absolutely not.
In nobody's world should abuse like that be tolerated. It's much less likely though, that there would be that degree of sexually-related abuse to a man.

If you go on the nationalists web pages you will see the comments that people voted many many times and we're encouraged to do so by whatever group they belonged to.
On person admitted the voted on two phones an iPad and a laptop.
Do people in Cornwall really think of saint Nicola as influential? ??
Has anyone outside of Scotland heard of Marie black the lowest voting mp at Westminster until she was told to get her finger out.

But....how DO you get the point about online homophobic and misogynistic abuse over, if you don't highlight the stark reality?
I don't swear and I don't condone its casual use so I'm not talking about Twitter, although I'd like to read it to see the von text, before commentating.
In her speech, she addressed the issue of not voting because of ill health and I think it ungallant to assume it was laziness unless one has real, intimate knowledge of the matter, rather than media gossip. |

"And you personally know that because.....?"
She moaned about hating Westminster, said she found it depressing, complained about having to travel up and down, found it troubling to work with some of the people there. She also said she was unlikely to stand for a second term but....as soon as the election was called and she seen her cash cow disappearing she suddenly forgot all this and stood for re-election.
She's conning those who voted for her (just as she did over the RAH) |

She wasn't personally responsible for moving the perinatal care to Glasgow.
What I can read online seems it was at the behest of the NHS and better care in an age of specialisation and increased expectations and litigation, although the practical side makes it seem ridiculous.
As for the rest- I can imagine every MP will say the same. Maybe it is laziness- I don't know- nobody knows. Until one knows for certain, one can't state it as fact. |
