"how exactly will it 'wind them up'?...i think they have slightly more current issues than giving a shit what colour some country's passport cover is..its xmas non -news!" It's symbolic - and if you don't think it winds them up, then look at what Anna Soubry said today! That proves that it winds them up!

Her constituency is in my area of the UK and she is always on the local news moaning about something completely trivial. She contradicts herself from one week to the next and does little for the people she is supposed to represent. She really is an odious woman.

"I care that it is blue. It shows immediately that we are out and not in and that is very important." The colour won't indicate this, the lack of the words of European Union will, we could of had it in blue at any time.

See a blue one and immediately, you know that it cannot be an EU passport.

"The passport design has to be changed because it references the EU on the cover. I think the rage shown by the OP is way OTT though, they are still our neighbours." Our neighbours yes. The trouble is that they used to be the sort of neighbours who told you how to cut your grass, or that you don't take your bin in quickly enough. No longer will they we those type of neighbours, thank goodness!

They are not "self elected" we vote for MEPs. Your ignorance is really showing. In relation to passport colour, no one under the age of 45 has ever had anything different from the burgundy passport we currently have. So if you really remember it well, then your age is showing too.

" I voted remain, I'm a globalist but I respect everyone's position. But if people get excited about a different colour passport with the intent of waving it like a flag as an in your face gesture, to other countries who have always warmly welcomed me, then I do worry about our future." I think most people, however they voted, would agree with you.

But if people get excited about a different colour passport with the intent of waving it like a flag as an in your face gesture, to other countries who have always warmly welcomed me, then I do worry about our future. Well if you take a flag flying as a 2 fingered salute then you have a problem. It's part of national identity. Our passport was always blue until the 1980s when the EU told us to change it. That is no longer relevant, so why wouldn't we change it back to they way it always was from the 1920s. When you go to the USA there are flags everywhere. They look amazing. They look patriotic. They look proud of their country. The stars and stripes flies from the Brooklyn Bridge. Why can't we do the same? You're missing his point. "Well,it seems we are not getting our £350 million a week and it's going to cost us tens of billions but, yay. We are going to have blue passports,so that was all worth it then. We will save money once the payments stop when we leave. If we £40 million in divorce, then at £350 million a week it won't take long to recoup it. Oh dear oh dear. The divorce bill is a LOT more than £40m. You are missing quite a few digits off there. You have also fallen hook, line and sinker for that utterly debunked £350m figure written on the side of the bus. Many Brexiters on here say that no one was stupid enough to fall for that figure, now we have a great example of someone who did! In 2016 the UK paid £13.1 billion into the EU. EU spending on the UK was £4.5 billion. Those are the facts. So at a net of £8.6, it will take less than 5 years before we are in profit. That's a good deal! " Did you also account for the money the EU paid to private UK instituions, or just the money the EU gave to central government? Ooops, back to the drawing board again!

It is still a passport that will enable you to travel to more countries than virtually every other country on the planet! No it won't. After March 2019 we will no longer have the right to travel anywhere in the EU, without informing the authorities about travel plans. We will no longer have automatic right of entry/admission. And of course the queues at emigration will be even longer.... However I suspect that the majority who wanted leave will rarely if ever be troubled by that." Nonsense. I have been to lots of countries outside the EU. I didn't have to tell them about my travel plans, or obtain a visa, nor was there any queue.

Whilst sovereignty might be important to Mrs. Mays electorate, I can think of many more things she could have gifted the country with with that sort of money." It costs nothing. The contract for the production of passports was up for renewal anyway. We are still subject to EU competition rules at present, so all of the capable manufacturers are able to tender, whether inside or outside the UK. Unsurprisingly producing passports in blue, instead of red is the same price. Existing passports will remain valid even though they say European Union on them, until they expire. New blue passports will not be issued until October 2019. Therefore you could have a new EU logo'd one in September 2019, which will last until 2029.

" If they make it, they'll secretly rub the inside with garlic or Bratwurst, to try to convert us back to their weird ways. If it's going to smell of anything it should be roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. Fuck everything else, if BREXIT gave us passports that smelt of Yorkshire Puds I'd have voted out. It's just another BREXIT lie. It won't smell of Yorkshire pud. Humour bypass Yes, I think you've had one. " You have learnt quickly lucy

" I voted remain, I'm a globalist but I respect everyone's position. But if people get excited about a different colour passport with the intent of waving it like a flag as an in your face gesture, to other countries who have always warmly welcomed me, then I do worry about our future. When you go to the USA there are flags everywhere. They look amazing. They look patriotic. They look proud of their country. The stars and stripes flies from the Brooklyn Bridge. Why can't we do the same?" US corporations citizens are mostly ignorant like UK citizens. they do not know: the country is insolvent.

"Dunno if anyone is a wear some guy summit do with EU, has said we actually didn't have to change it to red and we can change the color anytime. Got me thinking is this a way for may too hide EU law's, by us thinking we left. I'm not sure if true just what I saw I think in the independent paper.. I'm not into politics " A large criticism of leaving the EU is that we're going to lose (and not replace) an awful lot of EU law and policy that is very, very good for us. There are particular concerns around workers rights and human rights. But that was all out in the open before the vote - lots of leave voters actively *want* us to lose the laws that are, on the whole, good for us because they perceive it will benefit the country (or possible, it will benefit *them*).

"I am really struggling to understand what all the fuss is about passports. I use my passport probably more than average and I can’t really get excited or agitated about it changing colour next time I have to renew it. The colour change is completely irrelevant but the removal of the words “European Union” will result in changes as to how the passport can be used in Europe. I understand that there will be European version of the American ESTA system which for the vast majority of us will make very little difference other than having to get permission online before travelling. However, like the US ESTA system, if you have a criminal record or are known to the Police, jollies to Spain and elsewhere in the EU might be off the agenda or at least made much more complicated. The US also have a Global Entry system where known and frequent travellers get expedited immigration clearance. That said, immigration queues have dropped dramatically in the last 12 months so that is no real benefit at the moment." More than that. It's taken away many people's right to live and work in other countries. Fuck the slightly longer queues when traveling. Fuck the few quid you'll have to pay for a passport. Fuck the colour. Lifestyles and dreams have been torn apart.

For those who are not quite up there it has most certainly reduced their possibilities and ironically - many Brexiters are in this very same subset. My opinion about the whole Brexit thing is that it will gradually impact the lower to middle levels of society the most. As they are predominantly the ones who voted for this, they don’t really have anyone else to blame when they wake up one morning and start to feel the effects of the slow motion train crash that is Brexit.

The eu laws are being transposed into British law. But people need to ensure they vote for parties that implement future laws and rights that are important to them, rather than relying on an external entity to do it.

But isnt that what Farage and his merry gang were EMPLOYED to do in the EU parliament....to represent...they could had vetoed any of these laws that were made from external entries as you put it.....and so could the UK parliament as well...your EU bashing fails you yet again

What remainers are not saying though is that this will work both ways and will also apply to EU citizens wanting to come into the UK. The Uk's security will be increased as any criminals wanting to come in from the EU will be flagged up by this system and we can refuse entry to them if we so wish.
