Because as of the 12th century the english, atleast the aristocracy/ government and their supporters have been the aggressors in the imperialist expsnsion of the british isles.
I think you find that the english are proud of making their nation siblings 'equal' rather than subordinate, and therefore it would be a blow to them to let the union fail.
Kind of like conceeding defeat or the moral highground. |

And I would say they've made a fairly good job of it. They certainly hand over a fair proprotion of of there wealth to people who at times seam a tad ungrateful! |

Don't worry, the most evil empire in the history of mankind is coming to its end.
The Norman invasion - followed by the holocaust known as the harrowing of the north and the institutionalised glorification of warfare, conquest, plunder and enslavement - was the most disastrous event of the millennium, both for the inhabitants of these islands and the whole world.
Apart from the anachronism of a few remaining colonial territories, most of which serve as dry cleaners for dirty money (but then, so does London), "our precious union" is in its death throes and brexit will hasten its disintegration. |

This thread is making me laugh. The Scots are just as aggressive as the English, the Irish are pretty bad to,the Welsh used to have warlords invading England. We are all intermingled we are basically all as good or as bad as each other. |

Because the world is globalised with the scale of China and the USA and mega corporations being the only ones of consequence.
Being smaller and weaker and progressively more selfish is inefficient and foolish as we will become beholden to everyone.
We are doing a good job of wilful blindness though. Perhaps it's the complacency of having lived in such a wealthy, peaceful place for so long? We don't really seem to understand how things could be despite all the evidence in the world around us |
